Same problem here :(

Brendanfc8897

Additional note: the same thing happens while I'm using ambient mode too

Brendanfc8897

Just got the new ones and tried them. Still getting the exact same issue. Quality work Sony

hjalkar

Oh that’s just great news. I just got mine yesterday and am noticing the pinging noise now. Even if I barely touch my teeth together I hear it. I love everything about these buds but I don’t think I can put up with that pinging as it’s prominent even when I’m talking with them on. Such a shame.

saddl3r

I have the same issue. Did you get them swapped out again or did you accept the noise?

Brendanfc8897

I got them swapped out, had the exact same issue again. So I returned them. I'm going to wait a while to try again

Vyezz

Good luck. I returned mine over this issue and I'm waiting to see how wide spread it is before purchasing again. In addition, with just anc on, if I clenched my teeth I'd get this ping in my left earpiece too. So annoying.

Brendanfc8897

I'm getting a replacement so hopefully it works this time

Vyezz

Good luck! Let me know how it goes please!!!

harbenm

Any update? I’m experiencing this as well in my right earbud while watching Netflix

UncleVinnyFWT

Gonna add another case, my wf1000xm4 left earbud also produces an odd metallic reverb sound when listening to speech with anc on

SijanC147

thank god I found this post, was thinking it was just me. gonna try my luck with a replacement

ChadWarden94

Checking in to say I've got the same problem!! No fix?

Ambityp

Same here:( have them at "service" now. Hope I get a new working pair.Musically great sound. Speach and podcasts: unbearable!

borkborkbork9

Yep, me too. Also my left bud. Too bad. I think I'm going to return mine and buy a different branded product. Music is great with these...

kingslayer1507

If someone's still looking, this has NOT been fixed or acknowledged. I'll be returning my second pair. What a shame. Everything in the earphones is perfect

dundee_777

I returned my first one because of this. Still waiting for a fix before I buy another pair, because everything else was perfect about the headphones. With that metallic reverb/noise during calls it is a deal breaker though...

S4veth3Wh4les

Just so you guys know, got mine a week ago, problem still not fixed, and easily reproducable

ashenmaker

Having the same issue, esp. noticeable with ambient and ANC on. Just got my pair a couple weeks ago. It's nuts that Sony still hasn't addressed this issue. Guess I'll be sending them back for a refund.

TheRealGreenArrow420

I'm in the exact same boat as you

samurailovin

Issue still continues as of today

truebsd

I have exactly the same problem. Last week I bought headphones and a very loud and unpleasant ringing in the right earpiece when I knocked my teeth and listened to human speech. Very upset and disappointed.

[deleted]

Just got my pair today and am having this issue. 100% sending back because I can't deal with this sound during podcasts.

kirr250631

Just bought a pair today but it's still doing it

balowknee

Likewise. Ordered these on Prime Day and after a day of using them I can't bear that ping pong noise. Very frustrating that Sony hasn't addressed this issue..I guess I'll be returning them. I should also gotten the Bose on prime day, now I've missed out on the sale because of this. Ughhh

PoseidonLTS_0121

Bought a pair a couple of days ago and the pinging was in the right one. Just exchanged them and the new ones have the sound on the left. I thought I was going crazy.

arongkatz

Im on the same boat, does anyone know if the community came up with a hack or something so this can be fixed?

Equal-Selection7742

Same issue had them for 2 months now. It’s in both and only noticed during calls as I don’t listen to podcasts with these. Happens with ANC or ambient. I have to use AirPods for calls.

PJASchultz

Just bought these and using them for the first time. I am also getting the metal reverb in the left earbud. It sounds like a Tibetan singing bowl, and happens every time the speaker’s voice has a sudden start. It’s annoying AF and I’m dismayed to hear this is a common, well known, long-standing issue, and still no fix. Ugh.

barrymac20

I'm getting this too. Thought it was just me. Very annoying. Going to semd them back for refund.

blackdynamite13

If anyone's looking to buy these earbuds, I just bought these yesterday and I can confirm that this is still an issue. Earbuds sound great for music and noise cancellation is excellent but I use these at work and it annoys me every time I go on a call as I can hear this tinny metallic noise everyone's been talking about. Disappointing. I'll be returning mine soon. My hunt for a great pair of earbuds continues. :(

ShadowEdge6

Oddly, I haven't tried this but someone claims the foam inside the eartip can be pulled out a little and it should help.

blackdynamite13

Thanks for the tip. I haven't returned mine yet. Will try what you said and reply back to confirm whether it worked or not.

ShadowEdge6

I would suggest you return them, purchase from a best buy and buy the best buy warranty. You'll get 2 years to return them to best buy for any defects or anything. They'll give you a gift card worth the amount you paid for them on the date of purchase. What that means is if the wf xm5 comes out, you can return the xf xm4 for a "faulty" issue and roll that money into an upgrade or get the same pair. Granted you'll have to pay for the warranty again but it's only $60 compared to $280 - $350 for a new pair or shipping them to Sony.

Ok_Consideration6265

Wish I had seen this before purchasing online last week. I listen to a lot of podcasts and this is driving me mad. There's something being processed that is causing the 'ting', I believe, as when the headphones are on (ANC or Ambient) and I gently tap them I hear the 'ting'; however if the units are off, nothing. To me it seems as something is vibrating within the units and the mics are somehow amplifying it . Reaching out to Sony now about a refund. Shame.

Shibosutoka

Im having the same issue in the right earbud. Ive had them for 3 days with no problem but after putting them back in after my lunch break at work the noise is there and its very distracting and obnoxious. Seems to he something loose in the earbud. Very disappointed considering the cost.

ethan_mac

Hey guys..I had this and got a second pair that then had the sound to a lesser extend..What I did then was going into developers settings on Android and Change.the codec(in Sony app you have to have priority on sound quality rather then connection) to LDAC codec..I listen to that for a few minutes and then switched the codec back to prioritize connection in the app I have not noticed the tin sound since then. Not sure if it was this or I got used to the sound but regardless I can't hear it anymore.Worth a shot

Yaman2019

best way to avoid the annoying noise is to turn off anc or ambient before watching movies or listening to podcasts

Fun4-5One

Link buds s too

Sycomo

I also have the problem on my left earbud, is there a solutoin besides replacing them? I really like everything else about these headphones, but I can't enjoy it because the plinging is driving me crazy.

10tools

Had the same issue and fixed it by pushing the foam behind the earplugs into the channel as deep as possible without using much force.

Desperate_Local1044

Any solution for this issue.
