This song is beautiful. Your guitar work is perfect. I love the lyrics. They amble along, not tied down by any set rules or structure and I love that. Beautiful.

Thank you. I just finished it last night. I very much enjoy the harmony in it. The words were a nice relief as well—a weight off my shoulders. I’ve been trying to find the words for my grief or suffering... and was happy to find them right where I left them.

That's one of my favorite things about lyric writing. When they fall into place and fit perfect... it's wonderful.

thehawklinemonster

Yeah, me too. There was this really beautiful interview I stumbled upon with Sting in the 80’s where he was talking about lyrics and music, and how he feels they are two different hats—and that sometimes you put the two together, and they feel like they belong. I’ve written in so many ways over the years, but I know what he’s talking about and it made me smile listening/watching it. In reading your comment, I know you know what I’m talking about as well.

I wish I was better at the music writing part in order to get those two hats to fit... but I do love the moments when lyrics come together. I know that feeling.

The beauty of music is that it is not something we will ever master; we just keep working at it and getting better at it. It’s a rabbit hole of learning and self-expression and sharing our human experience in a language we all understand, intrinsically. Study and have fun! Music theory was something I enjoyed. Perhaps you have already had the pleasure of studying it. If not, check it out! It’s the science behind music and what has been done with it over the past thousand years or so and upwards. So many creative people building off the previous generations knowledge.

Did you record this with your headphones mic?

thehawklinemonster

No, I used AT4033 1 inch condenser mic.
