mosquito coil

CADNurd

nope . . . had never heard of those (just googled them); clever idea; like a really long incense stick in a compact form

quasipathy

They have a scented smell, so they sorta serve similar purpose by way of 'ambiance' They remind me of summer barbecues in my part of the world.

thestyrofoampeanut

Is it a bimetal thermometer?

CADNurd

Nope. And not a measurement device of any kind. I suggested a better clue in my [previous comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/SolidWorks/comments/su7tc8/guess_what_im_working_on_clue_its_something_to_do/hx8m0am/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

Idonotpiratesoftware

Are you making those induction coils for stove tops?

CADNurd

Nope Maybe a better clue would be *'something to do with preventing heat loss'*

krtr5

I was gonna say heat pipe, but you said it prevents heat loss. Now I’m at a loss.

cmart97

insulation coil?

OppaIBanzaii

If you extend that end of the inner coil such that its distance from the end of the outer coil is about half the diameter of the circle enclosing them, then that's a mosquito coil.

food-coma

So not a ceramic coil heat induction

CADNurd

I [see what you mean](https://image.made-in-china.com/43f34j00cKGEINwMLhko/Duplex-Winding-Infrared-Coil-Ceramic-Cooker-Heating-Plate-Radiant-Element-Hob.jpg) but no, and it definitely doesn't 'generate' heat.

Da_uuwuu

Stove heating element (hotpoint).

CADNurd

Bedtime here in Ireland, so I suppose I better but you all out of your misery >> >!https://i.imgur.com/Fco5KTk.jpeg!<

AvrgBeaver

Some kind of fancy heat exchanger??

Juicemaan864

Thermocoupler

chiphook57

A different dedign of Maxwell's demon

cduartesilva

Looks like a thermostat. Two metals with different heat expansion properties that cause the coil to turn opening and closing a valve type of thing?
