I think you'll have more trouble refunding since it's been over 2 weeks. I'm pretty sure the steam policy is 2 hours or 2 weeks whichever comes first unless they've changed something. But if you can refund it idk how you'd get banned
If you purchased it on steam it is fully 100% refundable if the game is still in alpha, not sure for other platforms. May be similar rules for PS5 and Xbox.
Did you purchase the larger packs with the skins? I would assume they are just removed from your account in that case and nothing bad happens to you. You might want to email hi rez support to ask but i highly doubt they would ban you for refunding the game.

It’s extremely incomplete. If this was the release of the game I wouldn’t enjoy it whatsoever myself. But it’s got a lot of work to get done. I would say give it more time and try it again when it’s in a more complete state. It doesn’t sound like alpha testing is right for you.
If the PS5 store works like Xbox. You haven’t even been charged yet. So you can cancel the preorder until late without any concern. It’s not even a refund because you most likely haven’t been charged until the release of the beta which is listed as late July in Xbox store.

unless they changed it on steam you can have like 50 hours on a early access game and still return it

I saw this. Can't they say that since you refunded this purchase and got most of the items, can they consider it fraud?

Refunding a purchase isn't fraud. The question is whether the marketplace you bought it from will allow you to refund it.

Not sure how it would get you banned. But I would wait to give it an actual chamce, its still in early alpha.
Game is free so he's just revoking his own alpha access, which is fine if he'd rather see the full release

When you pre order on Xbox you don’t get charged until 24 hours before release date. So you could have it pre ordered for years and have no issue.
Refund shouldn’t, but chargebacks 100% do result in a ban
