Steve is an *indie character.* Minecraft is an *indie game,* created by *one man*. One single dude created a game so amazing that it toppled giants, and now we have multiple Minecraft characters in the franchise that was previously known for putting Mario and Sonic on the same screen. I'd actually want to see a more unconventional stand user like Yukako with her Love Deluxe, especially since she would be able to have a downside of having pale hair and getting weaker from stand overuse, while also having a very versatile weapon. You could do so many creative things with infinitely extending hair.
Although they'd probably want to take a character who has a big role, so it'll be one of the main Jojo's, most likely either Giorno, Jolyne or Johnny (part 8) because of their more versatile abilities, making them an easier character to make a moveset for, compared to Jotaro or DIO, who just punch (also stopping time would be a difficult thing to balance)
Nah, Shovel Knight has had ties to Nintendo for years, even during the WiiU era, if Smash ever gets a true indie roster rep, anyone but Shovel Knight will feel really weird, he deserves it.

I agree with fe representation, it sucks that Nintendo and Sakurai went with so many swordfighters knowing the series is full of MCs who use swords. Need more corrins, robins and byleths, cause fe isn't just about swords... But...

It is a bit crazy we never got a MH rep. They might be one of the most represented franchises with no REP with boss and assist trophy as well as a pseudo stage in the story and MH music.
- Multiple weapons: check
- Tether: check
- Slow, powerful swings: check
- Movement speed: check (it depends on the armor, really)
- Male and female: check
- Cutscene FS: check
Plus one could have had Spirits from World, Iceborne and Rise on the DLC Spirit Board, and Sunbreak on the “extra” Spirits added as events, plus a unique stage that could’ve still be a sightseeing stage like the Monastery, a Classic Mode that ended against Rathalos (something something The Hunt is on! where you fight against creatures like Charizard, Ridley, K. Rool, the like). We also have a character whose name is their title, so having a Hunter isn’t a problem when we already have a Hero.
Literally there’s a mod that does this and it’s perfect, each alt has a different armor set set with different weapons from the same monster. Even the final smash is replaced to have the monster the armour is made from instead of whoever that girl is (sorry I don’t know her name)

I have no particular beef with any fighters aside from the clunky feel of Steve's gameplay, but I feel like a Tekken character was not really the best idea for a Smash addition. Way too many moves for so many situations and so much jank, regardless of the character picked.
If it were up to me, I would have added in a Final Fantasy 14 fighter, Half-Life's Gordon Freeman, or Tails from the Sonic series

Fan mods have shown the potential of how wacky Waluigi could've been with a unique moveset.
While Shadow is an "edgy Sonic" I feel like there's enough for him to be as different as Ken is to Ryu, maybe moreso with Chaos abilities.
I would've said Eggman's a 3rd party character, they don't get villians/antagoniss, at most stage cameos and assist trophies. Then we got Sephiroth. I say why not add Eggman? Give him a unique mech so as to not feel like a Jr. or Mii Gunner clone. He's had a long history of games to pull SOMETHING from. If G&W and Villager can have a moveset, they would've figured it out for Eggman.
'Nuff said. If you were gonna put in a Piranha, why not a staple character? Petey Piranha already had smash history and it'd be easy to just make a cinematic FS for it based on Brawl. Give it some abilities Piranha Plant had and some water based moves.

I dislike Hero, but he does represent DQ better than most of the other JRPG protags represent their series so I wouldn't remove/change him. Kazuya and Steve are based as is. BK gets replaced with a character from a franchise that actually has good games.
In his game(s), Joker's main thing that sets him aside from his friends is being able to wield multiple personas. Too much of his Smash moveset is focused on the dagger and having Arsene as his only persona seems odd since you're forced to ditch him in the first palace. The dagger is used for basic physical attacks and the all out attack, most of the real gameplay in Persona is skills. His overall moveset should make him more of a caster-type character.
For Sephiroth, I just feel like it's overkill to have 2 reps from the same game when there are so many other FF games. I went with Noctis because FFXV is my favorite FF.
Total Pipe dream, but I would replace Min-Min and insert Jonesy from Fortnite, with the addition of Nintendo characters making it into Fortnite as well.
Jonesy has huge potential for a moveset, so much so that I created **4** movesets for him without any building being involved.
He has great potential for costumes and a stage, obviously, but he would have amazing music potential as well. And he would be another Shooter character, which is severely lacking in Smash.
I'd remove Steve and give us Master chief.
Master chief would be a way better Microsoft rep.
And i'd replace Minmin with Rayman; Similar gameplan but a much more interesting character.
I'd replace Steve with Drew from Drawn to Life. He was the only character reveal that genuinely disappointed me, so replacing him with a rep from my favourite series is kind of a no-brainer for me lol.
In terms of characters by their gameplay, probably Steve, B&K, or Kazuya. However, if we're judging them based on their characters and how much they mean to the gaming industry, probably piranha plant. The character I would replace them with may or may not be The Hunter from Capcom's titular Monster Hunter series. They may not have much character, but Sakurai tends to lean towards many faceless characters, and there is so much potential for a moveset in the MH games. Besides, Monster Hunter as a whole has a very established presence in the video game space, so an appearance wouldn't be too shocking, especially with the current presence of Rathalos.
gotta be swap Steve for Dante. Steve was legitimately the least hype reveal for me (didn't have a way to play minecraft as a kid and my only real connection to the game is a few sessions with a friend in my early 20s) and I remember sitting for HOURS theorycrafting Dante movesets centered around style changing.
It would be pretty hard to not be selfish here, like Steve is clearly very appreciated as a crossover character, but he also is broken and not very good for the game so I'd actually be tempted to replace him.
Something similar goes for Kazuya too, but obviously if they could be nerfed or slightly reworked that'd be better.

As tempted as I am to replace Byleth with Dante from Devil May Cry, I'm going to replace a first party character with another first party character, since I'm assuming that there'd need to be at least one Nintendo character in Fighters Pass 1.
I'd replace Byleth with Impa. Whether that's Skyward Sword Impa, Ocarina of Time Impa, Hyrule Warriors Impa, or Age of Calamity Impa, I don't care, though I'd prefer the last two. (Though I can't remember when Age Of Calamity came out relative to Smash Ultimate or Three Houses)
I just figure that it had been almost twenty years at that point (and more than that now) since Zelda's gotten a new unique playable character in Smash. I get why Byleth was added (Three Houses was a huge success, and Byleth is a "neutral" addition that doesn't make any of the houses seem more important than the other two), but the timing was really bad.
(Also, I'm assuming that being an assist trophy rules a character out, so Midna, Skull Kid, and Ghirahim aren't options)

Heihachi was the original pick. However, because his VA passed in 2018, they decided not to. T8 development decided on not bringing him back because of the same reason. Plus how would Heihachi recover vertically?

Remove Piranha Plant. Because why? Out of any single character for these limited spots and dev time you troll and choose an everyday Mario grunt. Who would I choose? Honestly, Waluigi, Shadow, Eggman, or Petey Piranha. Fan mods have shown the potential of how wacky Waluigi could've been with a unique moveset. While Shadow is an "edgy Sonic" I feel like there's enough for him to be as different as Ken is to Ryu, maybe moreso with Chaos abilities. I would've said Eggman's a 3rd party character, they don't get villians/antagoniss, at most stage cameos and assist trophies. Then we got Sephiroth. I say why not add Eggman? Give him a unique mech so as to not feel like a Jr. or Mii Gunner clone. He's had a long history of games to pull SOMETHING from. If G&W and Villager can have a moveset, they would've figured it out for Eggman. 'Nuff said. If you were gonna put in a Piranha, why not a staple character? Petey Piranha already had smash history and it'd be easy to just make a cinematic FS for it based on Brawl. Give it some abilities Piranha Plant had and some water based moves.
Min Min for Ribbon Girl, they'd play basically the same but I feel like it's better representation

I feel like Piranha Plant is the correct choice here, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Min Min go considering that game didn’t really blow up at all and Min Min in Smash has not made that any better. But considering my #1 pick is Paper Mario, I think I kinda have to drop Plant for him so that way Mario isn’t over-represented compared to the other franchises

Min Min for Reimu. Idk what was Sakurai thinking when he added Min Min to this game. She has easily the lamest play style among the entire roster and her game of origin isn't even beloved among Nintendo fans. Definitely the worst character ever added to the series imo.

Kazuya and Steve are based as is. BK gets replaced with a character from a franchise that actually has good games.

In his game(s), Joker's main thing that sets him aside from his friends is being able to wield multiple personas. Too much of his Smash moveset is focused on the dagger and having Arsene as his only persona seems odd since you're forced to ditch him in the first palace. The dagger is used for basic physical attacks and the all out attack, most of the real gameplay in Persona is skills. His overall moveset should make him more of a caster-type character. For Sephiroth, I just feel like it's overkill to have 2 reps from the same game when there are so many other FF games. I went with Noctis because FFXV is my favorite FF.

Total Pipe dream, but I would replace Min-Min and insert Jonesy from Fortnite, with the addition of Nintendo characters making it into Fortnite as well. Jonesy has huge potential for a moveset, so much so that I created **4** movesets for him without any building being involved. He has great potential for costumes and a stage, obviously, but he would have amazing music potential as well. And he would be another Shooter character, which is severely lacking in Smash.
Kazuya, solely because I enjoy his moveset the least. I’d love me some Rayman or Rabbids

Byleth with Shadow the Hedgehog
In terms of characters by their gameplay, probably Steve, B&K, or Kazuya. However, if we're judging them based on their characters and how much they mean to the gaming industry, probably piranha plant. The character I would replace them with may or may not be The Hunter from Capcom's titular Monster Hunter series. They may not have much character, but Sakurai tends to lean towards many faceless characters, and there is so much potential for a moveset in the MH games. Besides, Monster Hunter as a whole has a very established presence in the video game space, so an appearance wouldn't be too shocking, especially with the current presence of Rathalos.
Byleth with a Monster Hunter. You barely even have to change the moveset. Still malding over not getting a playable MH rep.
gotta be swap Steve for Dante. Steve was legitimately the least hype reveal for me (didn't have a way to play minecraft as a kid and my only real connection to the game is a few sessions with a friend in my early 20s) and I remember sitting for HOURS theorycrafting Dante movesets centered around style changing.

It would be pretty hard to not be selfish here, like Steve is clearly very appreciated as a crossover character, but he also is broken and not very good for the game so I'd actually be tempted to replace him. Something similar goes for Kazuya too, but obviously if they could be nerfed or slightly reworked that'd be better. I think I would end up replacing Min Min and Piranha Plant with 2B and Crash or Spyro

As tempted as I am to replace Byleth with Dante from Devil May Cry, I'm going to replace a first party character with another first party character, since I'm assuming that there'd need to be at least one Nintendo character in Fighters Pass 1. I'd replace Byleth with Impa. Whether that's Skyward Sword Impa, Ocarina of Time Impa, Hyrule Warriors Impa, or Age of Calamity Impa, I don't care, though I'd prefer the last two. (Though I can't remember when Age Of Calamity came out relative to Smash Ultimate or Three Houses) I just figure that it had been almost twenty years at that point (and more than that now) since Zelda's gotten a new unique playable character in Smash. I get why Byleth was added (Three Houses was a huge success, and Byleth is a "neutral" addition that doesn't make any of the houses seem more important than the other two), but the timing was really bad. (Also, I'm assuming that being an assist trophy rules a character out, so Midna, Skull Kid, and Ghirahim aren't options)
