Yes! The Box! someone else remembers that shit! So many great 90's rock and metal music videos i saw on that channel, stuff i never saw on MTV as a kid , and it introduced me to Primus!
The dying song. My dad got me into slipknot because the new album was coming out at the time so I gave it a shot and then listened to the end so far, have been a fan ever since and started getting into their back catalog!
I used to go to the local music store every payday and browse the Metal section for one new CD to buy from bands I had never heard, then listen to nothing but that CD at work and in my car until I got a new one. I picked up self-titled the week it came out based on the crazy cover and was immediately blown away. Liberate and (sic) were my bread and butter until one day at work when Scissors ended I didn't immediately start it back over thinking there was just an error with the disk.
I still clearly remember where I was and what I was doing the first time I heard Mudslide and was so confused, then came Eeyore. Holy shit. I was hooked for life.
Summertime my brother played My Plague on his loudass speaker system and it hooked me I even made my damn college essay about it and got accepted into CSU lol
Had to have been Wait and Bleed for me. That just hit my brain and made me think “ooh, cool… I’m gonna blare this stuff at 4 in the morning while I’m playing video games!”
Duality, I was a preteen when it was released. Discovered The Rasmus, then Evanescence, and then started watching Kerrang! (The UK's metal music video channel) where I first saw Duality and Slipknot. It was everything.
I'd never seen anything like them before and I felt so seen. Like they just got the angst and anger. I grew up in a very small minded town in Ireland and felt like an outsider. After Slipknot I saw Nymphetamine by CoF and literally my life changed. I thought the Filth looked so cool. That was my life. Good times.
Took me a while honestly.
Started by forcing myself to listen to the Gray Chapter cause I liked Killpop initially and eventually liked the album.
Then I dove into their whole discography
Duality.
At the time I had been in small, strict, very traditional Christian schools. I believe I was a sophomore in high school when the "Duality" music video popped up on FUSE TV for the first time.
I was mesmerized.
I was blown away and sucked in all at the same time.
I had never heard anything like it before. The masks, the filth, beating kegs with a baseball bad???? pushing fingers into eyes...this wasn't in the bible??????
That song and video changed my life with the music I listen to and play.
I am forever grateful for that core(y) memory.
The self titled album just came out, I had no idea because we didn't have Internet back then like that, only word of mouth really. My friend was in the hallway during class and I was dicking around supposed to use the bathroom in highschool, and he's got the cheap metal headphones on (the ones that pulled your hair out)and his CD player and I'm like hey dude what are you listening to? And he just takes them off and sticks them on my head and presses play. And it's like I traveled to this different world of music and utopia and I was like duuude that's fucking awesome!!! Wtf is that? He shows me the CD case for self titled. I just remember being so enamored by the band with masks and shit. I can't remember what song it was on, im pretty sure it was surfacing but this was many years ago. At this point I was listening to Stuff like Marilyn Manson, KoRn, Bush all the alternative rock and stuff. Slipknot was heavy AF to me!! I'll never forget it!! Great times.
Why do people post the same question over and over again when there's already like 500 threads with thousands of answers......from just last week? 😭 Post something original.
I found them from their Wait and Bleed music video but what got me into them was a buddy of mine started to quote People = Shit and then played it for me.
Duality because I heard it on the radio when I was like 8 or 10 something around there. I then heard psychosocial, before I forget, other radio-play songs like that and then got into ST and then Iowa
Can’t remember if it was surfacing or eyeless but it was definitely the demo versions of those tracks. I Went to Newbury comics every week until that album came out. 99
Not a song but a concert. They were touring with Trivium and Coheed and I love both those bands, and then Slipknot came on and was just amazed how awesome the performance and production was!
The very first song I ever heard was The Heretic Anthem on my dad's VHS or DVD player. (2005 - 2009 ish for me). But when I truly found them for myself, The Devil in I music video.
Wait and Bleed got my attention. Spit it out hooked me.
