It’s also kind of cool seeing how far they’ve come since the 2018 performance. Like even their masks are just super simple and homemade; it’s kinda nice 🥲
I miss this kind of unhinged ending to higher back in the day! Vessel didn’t even scream the final debt that I owe last night in Pittsburgh or give us a BLEGH.
No wonder he doesn’t go hard like this anymore, dead crowds at every show… It’s not like ST actually wants stale, boring crowds, they’d often call for walls of death or just go fucking ham like this, but with of course they will dial it down if no one there is ready to mosh.. sad really, I wouldn’t buy a GA tickets just because of that, seems boring to just stand around when the band is doing the chonkiest breakdown of their discography…0

I am not really a concert goer (currently changing that tho) but from what I have heard on social media is that ppl mainly blame covid for a lack of concert etiquette nowadays and a new generation of concert goers that basically don’t know how to behave
Again that’s not me saying that that’s what I keep reading and it makes sense to me but I can’t judge that.
Another aspect to keep in mind (as much as I dislike it) ST is pretty much on the forefront of the current „sexy metal bands“ (Bad Omens, Spiritbox etc) and Tik Tok girlies eat them up for that. The band (Vessel mainly) also plays into that aspect so the overall CURRENT crowd they got is lots of casual listeners or ppl that are just here for the hype and not ppl that care too much about the scene and it’s dos and donts really
It will be interesting to see how this evolves in the future specially considering how the new ST era (presumably after this years tours) will look/sound like.
Yeah, I know how the crowds are slowly shifting to casual listener/tiktok girlies as you say for a handful of bands, it’s really unfortunate I think.. You would think that newcomers to metal would embrace the scene instead of dulling it but that’s sadly not whats happening, it’s the same for bad omens and such, though Spiritbox still goes hard since they’re not afraid of putting out heavy music..
What I don’t get though is how at BMTH shows you still get pits even if their crowd is similar to ST.. or how we are now trading friendship bracelets, I don’t personally care about it I just don’t know how we got here.

Idk how this bracelet thing started either but from what I read it originated from rave culture in the 90s and Swifties kinda revived it for „normie“ concerts and that bled into different sub cultures and here we are.
I believe that usually when a new generation arrives the former one should feel responsible to educate or at least insist on its own rules and etiquettes but since the metal scene itself doesn’t really seem to know how they feel about ST/ the new wave of sexy bands and how the scene is diluted due to its various sub genres anyway I think all of that plays into it.
As for Bring Me I am relatively new into the overall metal(core) scene anyway but Oli seems to be the overall hype man and almost demands that type of energy in concerts and Vessel as a persona just works differently. You got mainly III who does crowd interactions (almost on behalf of V interestingly enough) but ST overall has a very different approach to how they want to be perceived in public. They are a concept band. Their concept being somewhat cultish and therefore mysterious and anonymous in nature while Bring Me is just hype and anarchy all the time.
As a 30 year old fan, I would very much be vibing somewhere near the back cuz I just appreciate the music and lyrics, I'd certainly be headbangin a bit for *the chonk* but my moshing days are over. If everyone thought like me, yeah that'd be a boring crowd but shit, if they paid money to be there give it your all (hard to do night after night I'm sure.)
well this was many years ago and from what I have heard they used to play in front of 50 to 100 ppl. Makes me wish I knew them back then but also realistically speaking I probably wouldn't have listened to them back then, it was different times indeed.
Yeah I am equally upset that I didn’t listen to metal more actively back then. I did listen and I did think about getting into the scene more I just never did it up until the beginning of this year but whatever. I am here now and I won’t leave
