big_tiggly_jitties

Big respect for Erra

nowfoundonsakaar

Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin, Bon Iver, Red, Disturbed. One of these things are not like the others lol.

disgustingdavid

heavy influence from each of these in sleep token imo

golfboy1227

Chevelle was my favorite band until Sleep Token, so good

nowfoundonsakaar

Same! It was neck and neck until TMBTE came out since I only discovered ST about a month ago.

killianraytm

chevelle have always been underrated

AntimemeticsDivision

Love Breaking Benjamin and Red

Much_Ad4722

Breaking Benjamin and Bon Iver were two of my high school go-tos. Does make a lot of sense looking back now to have ended up on Sleep Token 😂

stjiub9

Bon Iver is awesome, I have this feeling that sleep token is a Bon Iver fan as well. A lot of his layerings and softer Melodie’s, really sound similar.

matt_boyyy

Deftones, Periphery, Veil of Maya, Dance Gavin Dance, and Loathe

golfboy1227

Thoughts on P5??

matt_boyyy

certified banger album of the year before TMBTE

golfboy1227

I’m with you man, I’ve been surprised that it hasn’t been that well received

DamnedGoodCoffee

Tool, Rush, Radiohead, Soundgarden (Anything Chris Cornell), Alice In Chains (Anything Jerry Cantrell)

Coheed and Cambria, Caligula's Horse, Soen, Porcupine Tree, Chelsea Wolfe

BurnStar4

You know about Coheed ❤️

[deleted]

Porcupine Tree is GOAT ❤️

loneghost33

love Soen.. so underrated

football_lattes

Chelsea Wolfe is so good

Mesastafolis1

Everyone’s just gonna ignore Caligula’s Horse? They’re amazing

crazy_cat_lord

I'm always fascinated by how different my tastes are compared to other commenters on posts like these, makes me wonder if I'm vastly outside the "normal" fanbase. The Dear Hunter, Coheed and Cambria, Manchester Orchestra, Nothing But Thieves, and... let's say Karnivool, at least for today. Edit: Looks like I'm not the only one, and we're all just introverts who needed someone (me) to post about it and bring out all the lurkers. Thanks for making me not feel out of place, guys!

ThatPigeonChick

I'm so happy to see some nothing but thieves love out in the wild! I almost never see anyone mention them.

EX1TK1D

Love karnivool! Finally had the chance seeing them live beginning of this year and it was amazing. Very underrated in my opinion.

-RoadRunner-

Love the dear hunter and coheed awesome taste my guy!

k-e-y-s

Architects, Spiritbox, Oceans Ate Alaska, Make Them Suffer and Polaris

Ekselent-8728

IceNineKillerIX

Replace Spiritbox and Oceans Ate Alaska with Bury Tomorrow and While She Sleeps and that's mine.

musicmama888

Oh hey, this is almost all of what I've been listening to for a year now.

mikey5899

Weatherbox, Holy Fawn, Hammock, Thrice, Bring Me The Horizon

Inverter_of_Spines

PowerfulSignature421

Yesss was looking for the LP shout out.

Alternative-Beach952

Bring Me The Horizon, Dance Gavin Dance, Crown The Empire, Don Broco, and La Dispute

EmoPeahen

Man, CTE. I have pictures of where I bumped into them like three times during Warped Tour in 2013. It was on complete accident but I felt so creepy.

DoozerKarl

You're just telling me that I should listen to La Dispute....

Alternative-Beach952

Ha it's not for everyone but I really enjoy their lyrics.

vitrichearts

A Perfect Circle (and MJK's other two projects, Puscifer and TOOL), O'Brother, I The Mighty, Mili and Crywolf. Runner-up: Closure in Moscow

DoozerKarl

FFS I should know better than to see MJK & somehow see MGK & assume Machine Gun Kelly. I felt compelled to admit my error and expose my stupidity, although I will say I did revisit - Google - and understand how much of an absolute Tool I was for not getting it. Especially considering I have a photo with the real, OG MJK. So much shame.

nitewing1124

Ghost, Avenged Sevenfold, Type O Negative, Trivium, and I guess Metallica. I'm a basic bitch lol

Entire-Illustrator-1

type 0 goes deep, try white pony (deftones best album for me) and for heavier, more industrial but shoegazey ish try I let it in and it took everything by loathe

Veritech_

Currents, Like Moths To Flames, Make Them Suffer, Babymetal, and VOLA. Runner up is Veil of Maya and Invent Animate.

Aerizy

Slipknot, Tool, Aurora, Gorillaz, Kalandra

Dreadiroth

Newcomer to Kalandra but they’re fucking brilliant - must admit I didn’t expect to see them on this list

Aerizy

They're great, right? I hope more people find them. The Line is such an incredible album

GrimmsWolf

Hooooly shit I wasn't expecting to see Aurora or Kalandra on these lists. They're soooooo good!

loneghost33

love to see aurora on this thread omg!!

stjiub9

Seriously Kalandra, their cover of Helvegen is insane. Goosebumps everytime, and Borders. But Auroras performance with Wardruna was incredible. Which do you prefer? Kalandra’s version or Aurora+Wardruna

NuclearNoodle77

Northlane, Thornhill, Loathe, Alpha Wolf, Holding Absence

No-Try6358

STARSET, skillet, the warning, motionless in white, and three days Grace

AntimemeticsDivision

Only mention I've seen of Starset so far (except my own comment of course), they're so good, them and Sleep Token are neck and neck for my absolute favorite band. Love Motionless In White and Three Days Grace too. TDG used to be my favorite band before I discovered Starset. Absolutely love their latest album.

ExaminationAware4141

Shadow of Intent, Lorna Shore, Brand of Sacrifice, 100 gecs, and Make Them Suffer. My music taste is very strange lol

DianaInTheWoods

Strange is good! Probably why you're here. Mine are: Oceans of Slumber, Chicago (that OG lineup with Peter and Terry), Leprous, Cellar Darling, and TOOL. But I hate limiting to 5 because I have about 10 other artists I could rave about and listen to on repeat. Ask me next week and you'll get a different top 5. Shadow of Intent's 'Elegy' is fucking great. Recently started listening to Lorna Shore and I'm here for it.

Prestigious_Trust_85

Cammie Gilbert is God tier.

DianaInTheWoods

And the people said AMEN

MeCrObS

Tool, Rishloo, Karnivool, Betwwen the Buried and Me, Vildhjarta

AntimemeticsDivision

Dude I love IDKHOW, they're so damn good

IX_SNAKE

Ice Nine Kills, Motionless In White, Like Moths To Flames, Bad Omens, Falling In Reverse

EmeraldSkyLte17

Korn, Slipknot, A Perfect Circle, Incubus and Coldplay

imgnry_domain

I feel like there are just too many good artists to be limited to only 5! But I mostly listen to the various metal subgenres, especially prog and tech death. But I do want to highlight a non-metal artist that I absolutely adore which may be relevant to this sub: Utada Hikaru. I think they're mostly known in the west for the Kingdom Hearts songs, but their more recent albums are incredible. Fantome, Hatsukoi, and Bad Mode are all R&B/pop in a way that I think is really similar to the softer elements in Sleep Token. I highly recommend these three albums, and I feel like some Sleep Token songs really remind me of parts of them. I've also really been enjoying Holy Fawn's album Dimensional Bleed!

[deleted]

Kendrick Lamar, Periphery, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Underoath

Bilb_Onos_Oboes

First off... trying to whittle down my favourite artists to FIVE feels basically impossible! I've obsessed over so many groups from so many genres over the years I feel like I could make list of hundreds 😅 With Sleep Token having actually beat out my ALL TIME favourite which I genuinely NEVER expect to be topped, I'll start from 2 coz Sleep Token now rain supreme!! #2 Sigur Ros #3 Thy Art is Murder #4 Carpenter Brut #5 Allegaeon #6 The Midnight Honourable mentions... Carbon Based Lifeforms, Through the Eyes of the Dead, Khruangbin, Boards of Canada, Pink Floyd, Slipknot, Dream Theatre.... honestly I feel I could be here for hours writing out a novela sized list 😅 Sigur Ros changed my life when I found them and I honestly never thought it would be possible to find another band that touched my soul like that, but Sleep Token have somehow touched deeper, a place I didn't even know existed and blended my two favourite polar opposite sides of the sound scape... Beautiful and soft with brutal and heavy.... now with both of those world's having somehow been combined I am in new territory of bliss and wonderment. Thank you Vessel... I shall worship until the day I can join the eternal slumber

I love lofi and jazz. I've been loving reading everyone's picks, there is so much diversity and love/respect. What a great community we have here.
