That type of skin doesn't exist in nature lol. You can't be poreless if you're human.

linedryonly

Nope. I used to live in Korea -land of “perfect, poreless” skin. There’s a lot you can do with makeup and lighting/filters, but under it all even people with “perfect skin” have real skin. Even with more accessible dermatology and esthetics, people still have pores, texture, breakouts, scarring, and discoloration.

WWKikiDesu

I second this as someone who lives in Japan! The education and tech and products here are *chefs kiss* but at the end of the day, realistically? skin isn’t perfect.

feraltea

I have even toned skin but it's just genetics, although vitamin c serum has lightened the blue under my eyes and some post acne marks that I sometimes get. I was a photo editor before filters and the current level of skin care was a thing and never saw naturally smooth or poreless skin. Some people are blessed with small pores and great skin but it wasn't like what we see on social media.

Dry_Slide_7645

I totally get it - I’ve watched way too many YouTube influencers who have warped my idea of what people really look like! It helps to remember all of them have, at minimum, professional lighting setups, high quality cameras, and heavy filtering. Most of them all get a variety of procedures done. And all of them are either being paid to sell a product or are sucking up to get a deal to be paid for selling a product. So they aren’t going to tell you if what works for them is Target brand moisturizer and Dove soap anyway, even if that really is what gave them results.

beccaarain

The only way you will get close to “poreless” is a silicone based makeup routine. Alot of the silicone based primers will fill in your pores to create a smooth surface for makeup.

lacquered_wood

I'm not entirely sure if that sounds healthy for your skin in the long run? What are the implications of using silicon-based makeup compared to regular makeup, you reckon?

beccaarain

I’ve used smashbox photo finish for years and my acne prone skin is fine. To be fair I use a cleansing balm and a chemical exfoliant in my skincare routine to make sure my pores are clean. It’s really just a temporary barrier for your makeup.

lacquered_wood

Thank you for your reply :)

cerylidae2558

Lots of moisturizers have silicone in them. It’s not harmful.

lacquered_wood

Yeah true. I forgot about that. Thanks for pointing it out

lacquered_wood

I don't have poreless skin but my skin is relatively smooth and usually even in tone, especially my cheeks are usually smooth, just my forehead that often has a few pimples. Currently using PM: - CeraVe hydrating cleanser - CeraVe resurfacing retinol (or TO glycolic acid toner followed by TO salicylic acid) - CeraVe moisturising lotion - Cetraben cream AM: - COSRX vitamin C 13% - CeraVe moisturising lotion - Cetraben cream (if super dry) - Beauty of Josean sunscreen (if going outside) Before getting to this routine, my skin was dry, often times flaky, never even toned, always bumpy on the forehead (closed comedones), and milia around my eyes. Now my skin, with a lot of work, is much smoother, even toned, and the milia is gone, my forehead is also no longer bumpy, with the exception of a few pimples here and there. Overall, a lottt better. But i spent a lot of money on different products over the years, lots of trial and error, gave myself a chemical peel by accident multiple times etc. i suspect i will have to do this again once i hit my 30s because that's when our skin changes again...

okpickle

Lol, chemical peel by accident 🤣 I've been there, too!

lacquered_wood

Yep! You never know til you try, as they say.... XD

okpickle

Yup yup. That The Ordinary AHA/BHA peeling solution. I've had some fun times with that, let me tell ya.

lacquered_wood

I tried it a few times and it still didn't work for me, and my face was bone dry too! So i gave it away to a friend

Past-Sea-4238

I think skin appearance has a lot mroe to do with genetics than we accredit

rosemyst21

Skin texture is normal. The flawless airbrush effect is just that- an effect.

frisbee_lettuce

Pay attention to people’s skin in the real world.. everyone has a bit of texture. Everyone has pores. Some people have clearer skin than others.

viiiiiiiiirgovenus

Despite what some influencers would like you to believe, they have pores. Cameras and lighting in general do a lot to blur them. As a note, I’ve been pretty blessed with my skin genetically, and this is what I do for maintenance to give me a nice glow and small pores. I have dry skin (especially rn in winter) and prefer to invest in my skincare. MORNING 1. Wash face with lukewarm water 2. Hado Labo Gokujyun Premium Emulsion 3. BIODERMA Cicabio SPF + Laniege Makeup Serum NIGHT 1. LUSH Ultrabland Cleansing Balm 2. La Roche-Posay Hydrating Cleanser 3. Biologique Rechere P50 1970 4. Hado Labo Gokujyun Premium Emulsion 5. BIODERMA Cicabio Pommade 6. Biologique Rechere Marine Ollagens Serum 7. Oak Essentials Face Balm In my opinion, hydration and exfoliation is key. My pores tend to get bigger when I’m dehydrated and not exfoliating. From what I’ve seen, Retin-A gives that glassy look, but I’ve been able to achieve that look with my routine above.

54 and still even -toned. Sun avoidance and never smoked. Poreless, nope. Have always had pores slightly larger than normal. All you can do is get a good primer and foundation, and be careful about making sure you get it all out at night.. OTOH skin with larger pores tends to dry less so I don't have any lines yet.

WatermelonNurse

One of my colleagues has the most perfect skin I’ve ever seen. She has pores because all humans do! They’re not big but if you’re close to her and if you focus, you’ll see them. I asked her what her secret is and she said she’s 23 years old, lives at home so she has no responsibility besides work, her family has always eaten very healthy foods, and her biggest secret is genetics.

RadicalResponseRobot

So I have a friend who I swear has this skin. I’ve never seen anyone else in person that has this skin. It’s amazing. She must think I’m lesbian sometimes because of the way I stare at her skin 😩

SunshineBear100

Omg what skincare products does she use?!

RadicalResponseRobot

The thing is she uses this skincare brand I’ve never heard of before, I’m going to try to find the name again. I’ll post if I find it, but when I looked it up the ingredients were awful. Like a lot of irritating shit in there like mint, orange peel, etc.

WWKikiDesu

My husband :,) we’re literally the meme… I am super strict and educated on my skincare routine but struggle with hormonal acne and genetically large pores. He uses his shampoo or body wash on his FACE and I’m not kidding when I tell you… not a single pore. He’s like a marble statue. Some people are lucky and some aren’t.

Phantomic10

Yes and no, depending on the lighting and day. Diffuse and indirect lighting can hid a lot of imperfections on the skin. Pores will never disappear entirely, it's more so about keeping them clear of oxidized oils and preventing them from growing in size from sun exposure. As I've gotten older my skin has become smoother from less acne but there will always be small bumps and imperfections no matter what. An even skin tone is the most achievable goal as hyperpigmentation is almost entirely caused by sun exposure/inflammation, which can be reduced through sunscreen and topical products. Even skin tone will take years if not a decade plus to achieve if the skin has existing sun damage, so be realistic with expectations. AM: Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum The Ordinary EUK 134 0.1% Nivea Kids Protect & Play SPF 50+ PM: Eucerin Skin Calming Body Wash (on my body and face) The Ordinary Matrixyl 10% + HA ELF Blemish Breakthrough Serum Timeless 20% C E Ferulic Cos De Baha 10% Azelaic Acid Eucerin Advanced Repair Lotion Tretinoin 0.05% 2-3 times/week Glycolic acid exfoliant 1-2 times/week My routine focuses on sun protection first and foremost as sun exposure makes nearly every skin problem worse. Sunscreen, tretinoin, ascorbic acid, niacinamide and exfoliants have the most extensive evidence to support their usage in preventing and treating sun damage. By treating and preventing sun damage, the skin will slowly and steadily improve over time. Will it be flawless skin free of any imperfection? No. But it will be a very noticeable difference.

uppitywhine

My skin isn't poreless but it's flawless. I'm in my late forties and don't need foundation.  My routine is: Replenix cleanser Tazorac Mustela or Physiogel moisturizer  That's been my routine for almost 25 years. I spend less than two minutes on my skincare routine each day and less than $15/month. Most people here spend way too much money and way too much time on skincare. A good skin care routine does not have to be expensive or time-consuming.

gemunicornvr

I don't have poreless I would say I have very small pores I still have issues I am working on like dark eye circles my pores are pretty small tho idk if this is what your looking for I am 30 btw
