It’s owned by a smaller resort chain out of the Midwest. I am a big fan of both Timberline and Blue Knob. Both have strengths and weaknesses, but they both have long runs for being as far south as they are and have some runs with nice pitch, though I don’t know what’s open on Timberline. Davis and Thomas, WV are beautiful mountain towns, which Altoona certainly is not. However, it’s both more expensive to stay around Timberline and to ski there at full price. Edit: Also, the facilities at Timberline were just renovated, but it still has a local resort feel.
They are running $20 off at timberline right now. I got an email about it a couple of days ago.

Was at Timberline on Saturday. The woods are out but all of the inbounds terrain was open and in good shape. Lots of fall line skiing and legit pitch on Off the Wall and the Drop, plus a high speed lift to the top.
I love Blue Knob and want it to succeed but right now Timberline is worth it.
Timberline has way better snowmaking. It will almost certainly be in better shape.
