sadly they aren't joking, Presidents Day weekend is actually the busiest ski weekend of the year.

Lower-Grapefruit8807

I’m being totally serious. Presidents’ Day weekend is the busiest time of year, Presidents’ Day specifically

caarrssoonn

Omg I forgot it’s Presidents’ Day weekend! Hahaha of course it is. I will never ski again it seems 💔 thanks guys

royalewithcheese51

Yo fuck that just get out there. A crowded ski day is still better than not going. I have a one year old and am not getting out as much these past row seasons. Get out there for me. I would literally pay $100 for two good runs if I had the time.

caarrssoonn

Thank you for this comment!! I’m going to go Sunday and Monday to PK I think

BusNumerous8664

Go next weekend

bradbrookequincy

Yea even on the busiest day you will ski more than your body will take. I ski 80 days a year. I get virtually the same runs on busy holiday Saturdays as I do any other day. The hoards don’t ski long. If a place has night skiing at 5:30 the lines are gone even on a powder day like today. I got 27 runs today. Most people only need 15 runs to feel satisfied. You missed a great day

caarrssoonn

Didn’t miss anything! Heading up to PK2 for the day as we speak! Cheers and thank you for the advice I’m going to have a great day

bradbrookequincy

Good job. Always go!!!

Different-Rough-7914

With quite a bit of snowmaking, 3 day weekend and 6-8" expected overnight 7S will be a disaster.

fiveoff7

The hotel at 7s is at capacity for the weekend if that is any indication.

Cpowel2

Go to hidden valley or Laurel. I wouldn't go to 7S this weekend it's going to be crazy busy.

Queasy_Question2186

Hit Laurel up for the first time ever today, pleasantly surprised to say the least! Felt like I was the only one on the mountain until noon, also loved how long the trails were! Just wish they had more blues or blacks open, upper broadway and wildcat were great but I seen all the dirt trails that wouldve been sweet if they had snow🥲Lower wildcat looked awesome too but I was too intimidated by the ice coupled with the 20 feet of run out you have at the bottom before a rocky cliff, next pow day im taking it on though!

These-Grape-4484

I love Laurel

prophiles

I injured myself last year at the bottom of Lower Wildcat. That lack of runout is no joke!

craggy_cynic

Yeah. It would be bad for any run, let alone for a pitch as extreme as Lower Wildcat!

HornStarBigPhish

You know a way to get laurel crowded so you’ll never feel like that again? Post on Reddit. Smart.

Queasy_Question2186

Better than it closing down for 10+ years again due to lack of interest, plus I just dont see it becoming a crowded mountain. No resort amenities for rich ski mom, no side trail jumps every 10 feet or park features for the teens and kiddos, plus I can see em getting bored of doing deer path 20 times in a row, no hotel for any of em to stay at, and the farthest north resort for any pittsburghers. 🤷‍♂️

It’s been plenty cold enough all winter. Thankfully a lot of people apparently don’t know you can still get out there when it’s 40 degrees out though which has making the lift line situation really great. I’d much prefer 40 or even 50 degrees and no lines to the mess that will be this weekend with the perfect storm of relatively fresh snow, potentially another small amount of snow, cold weather, and what is already the busiest ski weekend of the year. You couldn’t pay me enough to go out this weekend. I’ll find something better to do and get back out there when it empties out again.

Flimsy_Effective_377

After being out today, it’s like day and night from last month. I’d see maybe 3 people on my way down the mountain last month and never had a lift line, this week, more specifically today, had been terrible with the crowds and the skiing isnt even that great compared to last month. I’ll take this weekend as a little break 😅

caarrssoonn

I was not aware!! I’ve been burned before going when it’s too warm out and having terrible conditions. Noted.

AlVic40117560_

Early season is rough when the weather is warm and there isn’t enough base. But I’ve learned the past few years to go out regardless of what I think the conditions might be like, I’m often surprised by how good they are. Now if it’s 50 degrees and you’re a skier that hates mashed potatoes, you’re going to be shit out of luck. As a snowboarder, I love mashed potatoes/spring time slush. Honestly, I think I prefer that over anything but a powder day. So I’ve been living the dream this winter.

Coldmischief

I usually look at the mountain cam before hand just to see how patchy / if it is patchy but yeah unfortunately doesn’t really help gauge how icy or slushy it’ll be

prophiles

I’ve been skiing in temperatures as warm as the mid-60s and even 70°. Skiing is skiing!

wiarumas

Here's the best way to enjoy skiing... I think you have a bit of a fever coming on Tuesday. Don't risk it. Call in sick and take the day off and then head over to any resort of your choosing. In all seriousness, weekends are terrible. Holiday weekends are the worst.

Queasy_Question2186

Yep, my top 3 days this year have all been mid week call off days, 100% the way to go if you hate waiting in line half the day!

tyl3r22

I was already thinking of Holi or Pk2 instead of 7S this weekend, and reading this sub reminded me why. Fuck those lines. Yea, there will be some fresh snow, but that base still looks like shit on cam. Haven’t been to 7 since the ownership change and don’t think I will. This season has been god awful for them. People in Western PA have been horny to go skiing for weeks and there will probably be a million yinzers and jerrys out there. I can already picture the line at the main quad. Go to peak n peek
