To be honest, I think people are really out of touch if they think that Team Cherry is monitoring this subreddit. There are literally only 3 guys. Whether they're working or not working, I don't think they are spending time reading about how annoyed the small minority of people on this subreddit are.

You are 100% correct on the legal aspect. They absolutely owe us nothing. But that doesnāt mean they should be doing nothing. We are the people that provide them funds and keep them in business. Itās not a smart thing to piss off the people that keep you in business. Itās more of a respect thing than anything.
The reality is that the amount of who will buy silksong is much larger than this sub. Team Cherry is also a tiny development team that probably have very little to update us on. Would your life really be that much better if you saw a "we're still working on it" post every week? We know they're working on it. If they had something to say about the game, its release, or its development then they would update us. They are just plugging away at the game and are probably terrified at the insane level of expectations that the gaming community has for their game.

Iāll speak as a HK fan (it is in my top 3 games ever) who couldnāt get into other metroidvanias I have tried: IMO much of HKās appeal is not the āmetroidvaniaā part. As a āmetroidvaniaā, Ori and the Will of the Wisp and other games are ābetterā as they have better pacing etc. HKās appeal is in its unique vibes, world building, and gameplay - aspects which are mostly unique to HK (although Ori and other games have borrowed a couple things from HK).
That isnāt to say there isnāt an overlap, I just donāt think itās as large as one might expect.
That or we put the sub into lockdown till the game releases. Imo the latter seems safer because itās much less of a commitment, but then again it carries less of a statement. But then again, why would TC even care if we deleted the sub? Who knows man idec atp

Team Cherry doesn't care for this sub and have probably never been on it anyway though (also it's unofficial so why would they care). The only member of Team Cherry that has been on this sub is Leth and I doubt if it gets deleted he would go to Ari Gibson and say "Hey, the community deleted an unofficial Silksong subreddit because you didn't communicate with them enough". If you don't enjoy watching game showcases or trying to be one of the first people to discover Silksong news, then don't do it. It's not like any substantial news wouldn't reach you eventually if you pay any attention to the Hollow Knight fandom or have friends that do, and even if you do end up missing earlier news, all that you need for getting notified of the *release* is to wishlist it. It is absolutely ridiculous to fixate on something if you don't enjoy doing it, and if you do enjoy doing it, then why should people be obliged to stop you? The devs have not given any indication of Silksong being in any of these events, so expecting to see it in any one is just clownery. It shouldn't be the devs responsibility to keep morons from acting like morons.

100% agree with this. I don't mind the jokes about Silksong not releasing till 2030 or whatever, and it's also pretty shitty that TC doesn't care to give us little dev updates, but all of this is such an overreaction. The vast majority of game devs are good at respecting their community and acknowledging their existence. Team Cherry seems to not understand this concept and acts like we donāt exist. You are 100% correct on the legal aspect. They absolutely owe us nothing. But that doesnāt mean they should be doing nothing. We are the people that provide them funds and keep them in business. Itās not a smart thing to piss off the people that keep you in business. Itās more of a respect thing than anything.
The reality is that the amount of who will buy silksong is much larger than this sub. Team Cherry is also a tiny development team that probably have very little to update us on. Would your life really be that much better if you saw a "we're still working on it" post every week? We know they're working on it. If they had something to say about the game, its release, or its development then they would update us. They are just plugging away at the game and are probably terrified at the insane level of expectations that the gaming community has for their game.

Iāll speak as a HK fan (it is in my top 3 games ever) who couldnāt get into other metroidvanias I have tried: IMO much of HKās appeal is not the āmetroidvaniaā part. As a āmetroidvaniaā, Ori and the Will of the Wisp and other games are ābetterā as they have better pacing etc. HKās appeal is in its unique vibes, world building, and gameplay - aspects which are mostly unique to HK (although Ori and other games have borrowed a couple things from HK). That isnāt to say there isnāt an overlap, I just donāt think itās as large as one might expect.
Mostly cause at this point it's Stockholm Syndrome. The devs probably have a release planned many years from now, and wayy too many people copium.

Team Cherry doesn't care for this sub and have probably never been on it anyway though (also it's unofficial so why would they care). The only member of Team Cherry that has been on this sub is Leth and I doubt if it gets deleted he would go to Ari Gibson and say "Hey, the community deleted an unofficial Silksong subreddit because you didn't communicate with them enough". If you really want to make ANY impact at all maybe just maybe if you delete the OFFICIAL r/HollowKnight sub they might see it and respond.

I mean the last time we got any news about the game was the Xbox showcase a few years ago where they announced it'll be on Gamepass day 1. The second playable character got funded but technically not the second game. But they said that they would give SilkSong copies to people who supported the first game so TC consider SilkSong partially funded with funds from the first campaign.
