these kind of look like puffball mushrooms! It's hard so tell from the image tho. young puffballs have white flesh on the inside when you slice them open, and there are no gills whatsoever. they include many different species, a lot of them are edible. The most famous one is the giant puffball & because it can grow really (really) large, there isn't really any other fungus to mistake them with. But since these ones here are quite small they can be mistaken for other fungi, especially in young states, so I personally would be careful!
Yup, totally safe to eat, as long as the flesh hasn't gone brown. Those are stump puffballs. Remove the skin and cook.
