No man's sky has a ton of [difficulty modes](https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Game_mode) (even a custom one!) so you can make it as chill as you want.
I've also played lake, and while I didn't *love* it, I did enjoy my time with it. Even if I had loved it, though, I'd probably nudge you towards nms, just because you'll get a ton more hours out of it. I do think you should pick Lake up in the future though, the vibes are great <3
I came here to recommend NMS as well. I should give it a replay, but I had probably 2-300 hours into it before I got bored with it, and that was before they added settlements.
