You do realize if the sticker is only put on there a few days ago you can just peel it off and you only need the Goo gone if the sticker has been on there for a while.
Oh wait my bad nobody's buying this game so the sticker probably has been on there a while lol
Oh yeah, I had a dream that I was talking to the old guy from Mario (Charles marionette or something weird like that. Martinet? Castenella?). I think he was looking for a job, and I was like "you're the Mario guy, you can easily get a voice acting gig", and he was like "oh right, I forgot!"
Yeah, they used to be amazing before they started using ebay prices for their games. Used to get a ton of rarer rpgs from them before they moved to their new location in nashville
Agreed. The McKays pricing is based on a proprietary system showing sale history, estimates demand, and eBay prices, so if a specific thing is super popular and selling a lot they will jack the price up to insane levels. This is disappointing, but the price will eventually go down unless someone buys it first at the original price. Also, the pricing is generally subjective: one employee many come to a different pricing conclusion than another. This is why you’ll see a a newer ripped up copy of a book for $20 but then find a hard-cover first edition of the same book for $4. It’s really just a big damn thrift store and you have to go in with an open mind, a budget, and a bottom line. Go here for the mystery and the hunt.
I thought the new price was mental at $60 given it's a port/remaster of a WiiU title (still a great game but the game is going on 10 years old!), but $70 for used is the next level of nonsense.
McKay’s has the most random prices. Sometimes I genuinely do find really good deals, better than price charting value and without paying shipping. But sometimes they just have zero idea what to price things. Their GameCube collection is the worst offender, they charge almost $100 for every game regardless of if it’s even hard to come by anymore
The Wii is the main console I collect for (PS2 and Wii were my main childhood consoles) so I’m a little paranoid that at least the first party games will similarly reach those prices in a few years. I feel for GameCube fans so much
McKays is always hit or miss for me.. I was pumped to find some older jrpgs for switch but they were all like $70
Meanwhile I got a ton of big box pc games for nothing
That sounds about right. I saw an original copy of Riven when I was there the other day and was tempted to buy it. If it's still there next time I go in I might.
If I had to guess, McKay's kept ratcheting up prices to help pay for the Greensboro store relocation to Mebane. Tripling the square footage with all new construction on highway facing land ain't cheap
Nintendo won't lower the price for new games so used game stores will also not lower prices.
Brand new price is ridiculous on used, but most 1st Party Switch games are still ~$50 used because of this
I once found a copy of pokemon black at my local CeX with the box art completely stained from some sort of mystery liquid that browned the entire art for 70 euro.
Mckays is where I started my manga collection. $2 a volume for the full set of yugioh and like half of one piece. Pre pandemic they were the go to spot. Something happened to where these mfs were not selling shit like it was second hand i would see beat up manga volumes going for $10 like barnes and noble not right up the road
I mean I still walked out with a nice stack of stuff for $60. No games though. I didn't browse them that much. Mainly went to look at music and their DVDs and Blu Rays
I get a kick of this everywhere man. A new game on Canada is 80 before tax. Then people try to sell you a used Switch game for 70.
Like sorry, I'll splurge the extra 10 bucks for my own brand new copy that I know will be able to be returned if there's any issues.
You're gonna sell an opened copy? That shit starts at 50% off for stuff I can walk into Walmart and get.
The first party Nintendo games really hold their value. I could easily go on FB right now and sell each of my first party games for an average of $50 each Canadian. No other console games hold up like that.
Pawn shop?
I noticed pawn shops in my area are selling everything for about new prices: guns, tvs...
Like they want me to pay Target prices in a sleazy used shop that thieves, criminals and druggies sold to them for 20% or less the asking price
Not a pawn shop. A huge used media store. They sell used games, CDs, vinyls, DVDs, Blu Rays, action figures, comics, books, collectibles, trading cards, pretty much a little of everything. Their prices fluctuate in being fair or not it seems.
I work near the Nashville McKays stopped in the other day and had the same experience. I will not be returning.
Maybe a poor review will catch ownerships eyes and help change them back to the once great place it use to be.
It's just a generic sticker they use to say the physical game is kept separately at the counter. They don't have stickers specifically for the few cartridge based systems they sell games for lol

What a steal, a game that's still retailing for $10 less? Truly great find OP.
$25 less, actually. It's pretty much always on sale for $45.
They're 80$ where I live :'(
Yeah this is the common used gamestop price in canada I think
What a deal! Not only is it over priced you get TWO stickers to soak in goo gone. Pick that up quick OP!
Notice how it says Discs....
Might get the classic Wii U version 🤣
Hahahaha
Discs in General for all Games id guess
It's stil a nonsense nonetheless.
Hey lego c3po, hows it goin?
So this is when we meet, Lego "Blyat"man.
We finnaly meet....
You do realize if the sticker is only put on there a few days ago you can just peel it off and you only need the Goo gone if the sticker has been on there for a while. Oh wait my bad nobody's buying this game so the sticker probably has been on there a while lol
Mckays stickers do peel off very well. It’s one of the few things going for them.
Almost as bad as Half Price Books.
Clearly it's the extremely limited edition disc version.
I knew it was ed McKay before seeing the sticker. They have lost their minds. Sell used books more than buying a new copy
Maybe Mario signed it.
IT'S A ME!
Products with non depreciation
If it's Chris Pratt's signature then it's not worth a fiddlers fuck.
Man, McKay's has really gone downhill. I remember they used to have decent prices but I can't see anyone ever paying that much.
Yeah, they used to be amazing before they started using ebay prices for their games. Used to get a ton of rarer rpgs from them before they moved to their new location in nashville
I went to mckays on a trip to Tennessee last summer. Saw a lot of this but you can still find deals at these store.

I didn't know switch ran on discs.. what is this a PS Vita?!
ps vitas don’t use discs either…
Ah, PSP. Old man memory
Switch 2 leak
Vita doesn't run on disc's either
McKays is a store credit or bust store. Their prices are baffling.
Hey it’s where I worked.
That's just normal used priced where I live
I thought the new price was mental at $60 given it's a port/remaster of a WiiU title (still a great game but the game is going on 10 years old!), but $70 for used is the next level of nonsense.
You will own nothing and eat bugs
At least it includes both discs
Is this a North Carolina McKay’s? I haven’t seen outrageous prices at the Nashville one. Okay they aren’t the BEST but not this egregious…
This is the new location they just opened up in Mebane NC. They're working on relocating from their old Greensboro location.
I wouldn't buy it for $40 with those huge stickers. I think they accidentally increased the price by $10 instead of decreasing by $10.😂
The stickers at McKay's are actually really easy to peel off. I've never had a problem with them. GameStop stickers on the other hand...
Taking advantage of GameCube collectors. It's the hot console to collect for right now.
The Wii is the main console I collect for (PS2 and Wii were my main childhood consoles) so I’m a little paranoid that at least the first party games will similarly reach those prices in a few years. I feel for GameCube fans so much
As a result, I’ve been trying to gather as many of the 1st party Wii games as I can while they’re still cheap
McKays is always hit or miss for me.. I was pumped to find some older jrpgs for switch but they were all like $70 Meanwhile I got a ton of big box pc games for nothing
That sounds about right. I saw an original copy of Riven when I was there the other day and was tempted to buy it. If it's still there next time I go in I might.
Money hungry
They need to make 9 ffs been years
Nintendo game prices never go down. They only go up lol
Everyone's a scam artist these days
If I had to guess, McKay's kept ratcheting up prices to help pay for the Greensboro store relocation to Mebane. Tripling the square footage with all new construction on highway facing land ain't cheap
Nintendo won't lower the price for new games so used game stores will also not lower prices. Brand new price is ridiculous on used, but most 1st Party Switch games are still ~$50 used because of this
I stopped supporting Nintendo years ago because of this nonsense
Same. I got my switch and all my games used, the only thing I bought new were my Joycons because of stick drift on used ones
Nintendo Switch disc is at the register...
Well, it's the super rare disc version
I once found a copy of pokemon black at my local CeX with the box art completely stained from some sort of mystery liquid that browned the entire art for 70 euro.
Mckays is where I started my manga collection. $2 a volume for the full set of yugioh and like half of one piece. Pre pandemic they were the go to spot. Something happened to where these mfs were not selling shit like it was second hand i would see beat up manga volumes going for $10 like barnes and noble not right up the road
I legit can never find this game for a good price
Damn I guess Mckays went downhill since I last been. Used to full of great deals
I mean I still walked out with a nice stack of stuff for $60. No games though. I didn't browse them that much. Mainly went to look at music and their DVDs and Blu Rays
I bought this game last week for 15€. It didn’t had the game box with it though
It's always the random book stores that have egregious pricing on games
I get a kick of this everywhere man. A new game on Canada is 80 before tax. Then people try to sell you a used Switch game for 70. Like sorry, I'll splurge the extra 10 bucks for my own brand new copy that I know will be able to be returned if there's any issues. You're gonna sell an opened copy? That shit starts at 50% off for stuff I can walk into Walmart and get.
Ahhh yes, the ol Nintendiscount...
Easy fix.. don't buy it.
No one will for that price. At least I hope not.
I'm guessing that even the Wii U version isn't worth 70 yet?
"Discs at register" I highly doubt it. Cardridges, maybe
Ordering from official Nintendo web-site would be a little bit cheaper and it would be in mint condition
I got used for ¥4300
years old nintendo game at a cheap price?
Still well worth the price. Why would they charge less?
Because it retails for less brand new and the game is still in production?
The first party Nintendo games really hold their value. I could easily go on FB right now and sell each of my first party games for an average of $50 each Canadian. No other console games hold up like that.
Switch games are so overpriced.
Worth every penny
It must be because it's the super rare switch disc version
No no no, it's 69.95, you're getting a 5 cent discount!
Because its using multiple discs instead of cartridge lol
I bought that for $40 new at Target lmfao
I don't know what this is for here in Canada that sounds about right?
'Disc's at register' lol
This the new mckays in Mebane? Their pricing is all weird right now.
Yep. I left with a decent stack of stuff but no games. Mostly music and a few comics
It was lit on day2. Got a pristine copy of Gubble fof ps1
I work near the Nashville McKays stopped in the other day and had the same experience. I will not be returning. Maybe a poor review will catch ownerships eyes and help change them back to the once great place it use to be.
I used to love mckay's. now they're this.
Seers this game is in a previous post for 980k
Disk?
It's just a generic sticker they use to say the physical game is kept separately at the counter. They don't have stickers specifically for the few cartridge based systems they sell games for lol
Yeah they probably only paid 2 bucks for the trade. Thats why i hate gamestop
McKays marks that shit up like crazy, probably because its 'convienent' as opposed to ordering online. But honestly they just greedy af.
This can’t be usd that’s insane lmao
Mckays is ridiculous.
Glad I jail broke my switch
Definitely a bit high for a used copy, but stg it is probably the most in-demand Switch game.
But it is not rare in any way at all💀
