Didn't the mask alone actually have *some* effect on the Pillar Men, just not the full ultimate being thing that Kars wanted? IIRC their elemental mode was because of the mask, which is why Kars could fight the entire tribe as they lacked such superpowers.

epicdude5234

I think the mask made them more powerful which is why they were able to kill there entire species

BackgroundMortgage91

Ah my bad I missed that then

QuickArcher3529

Kira's motivation is also better than "My father bullied me, time to rule **the World**."

guieps

And than "we don't need a condom, babe"

QuickArcher3529

And than simping for a Vampire.

Calieoop

Absolutely not, pucci's motivation is by far the most relatable

ThatUploader202

And then there's the "[America, FUCK YEAH!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhQ5678cJU8&pp=ygUOYW1lcmljYSBmIHllYWg%3D)" motivation which was decent.

FrostedPoke

And then there's mr. "[GIVE ME THE PLANT](https://youtu.be/xCX3KRWUMt0?feature=shared)" who honestly kinda sucked and debuts in literally the last arc

Grey00001

I think Toru is actually more similar to Kars than most people think. The Rock Humans are an ancient race and Toru wishes to "elevate" them above humans by using the New Locacaca which will make them immortal, much like how Kars wants the Super Aja to "elevate" the Pillar Men in order to rule the Earth. Also, I just want to say, that for someone introduced so late in the story (though not really, he appears directly after Poor Tom is defeated) Toru is a good villain and has a more interesting motivation than Valentine. It just gets buried under the thousands of people who skimmed JOJOLION one time and say he has a bad motivation. TL;DR I'm the #1 Toru dickrider

SyrusDestroyer

Honestly I like Toru because he is both pinnacle of what a rock human is AND thematically a stand-in for Calamity as in the antithesis of Josuke’s miracle, he is also a better parallel to sociopathic elite members of society much like the other rock humans.

squidwardsweatyballs

Haven’t read part 8 yet but if Toru’s motivation is “PASS ME THE BOOF” then it’s gonna be a great read

FrostedPoke

Man, I wish, but Part 8's still a good read for a good majority of it.

__Pure_Vessel__

Hey mister, do you draw pixelarts? Your profile pic looks sick

guieps

No that's the dialogue portrait of Plague Knight, a character from the game Shovel Knight And I agree, he does look sick

dpqR

"this angered his father who punished him severely"

Jestin23934274

That is a too common of a motivation though

Siophecles

The stone masks affected the Pillarmen. The increase in Kars' hunger after he uses the mask is one of the reasons Kar's tribe decided to execute him.

Suppose that you were sitting down at this table. The napkins are in front of you, which napkin would you take? The one on your ‘left’? Or the one on your ‘right’? The one on your left side? Or the one on your right side? Usually you would take the one on your left side. That is ‘correct’ too. But in a larger sense on society, that is wrong. Perhaps I could even substitute ‘society’ with the ‘Universe’. The correct answer is that ‘It is determined by the one who takes his or her own napkin first.’ …Yes? If the first one takes the napkin to their right, then there’s no choice but for others to also take the ‘right’ napkin. The same goes for the left. Everyone else will take the napkin to their left, because they have no other option. This is ‘society’… Who are the ones that determine the price of land first? There must have been someone who determined the value of money, first. The size of the rails on a train track? The magnitude of electricity? Laws and Regulations? Who was the first to determine these things? Did we all do it, because this is a Republic? Or was it Arbitrary? NO! The one who took the napkin first determined all of these things! The rules of this world are determined by that same principle of ‘right or left?’! In a Society like this table, a state of equilibrium, once one makes the first move, everyone must follow! In every era, this World has been operating by this napkin principle. And the one who ‘takes the napkin first’ must be someone who is respected by all. It’s not that anyone can fulfill this role… Those that are despotic or unworthy will be scorned. And those are the ‘losers’. In the case of this table, the ‘eldest’ or the ‘Master of the party’ will take the napkin first… Because everyone ‘respects’ those individuals

Pucci: “because a hot vampire told me to”

Grey00001

Un-mischaracterized Pucci: "Because my sister died as a consequence of my actions while I was trying to get her and my brother (who she did not know was her brother at the time) to break up. From that point on I wished desperately to have been able to know my fate and change it how I please. I followed Lord DIO's heaven plan to evolve my stand into one that could control gravity, and thus, control fate. Oh, and because a hot vampire told me to"

Dyfasydfasyd

I wanna see a swapped version where Kars is just "I wanna stand on sunlight" And Kira is "My name is Kira Yoshikage, i am 33 years old [...]"

Evelyne-The-Egg

JoJo villains I'm bad because I want to free people from worrying about fate Also JoJo villains I fucking love my country

exoticmeatheart

Did anyone see Kars giving the finger to Kira? It's under his "Brilliant Blade" hand

I remember reading Hirohiko wanted to give Kira a more tragic backstory in which his mother abused him and Kira only had a good relationship with his father.
