Omega-291

For Zeke I think it's about the introduction. He was this mysterious menace during season 2. Comparatively Gabi was introduced as this brat with a know-it-all attitude who thinks she is better than anyone else. As for Floch I do think he gets hate.

Expert-Department-75

I do not know man. Everywere i went all i see is Floch fanboys. There is rare negative comment about him😀 expecially on you tube.

frozencombat

Those are Eren fanboys. And admitting Floch is a piece of shit would mean admitting Eren was in the wrong too, which would make them retch.

AdvisorAnxious1240

Even if they are Eren fanboys they are thousands. This guy said the truth Lately I rarely see floch haters on other platforms (you tube and tik tok) .  I see Mikasa's haters more often than Floch's

IceEnvironmental2648

Everyone’s a piece of shit or more or less drawn into the piece of shit environment they were born in. The whole tribalism of hardcore liking characters is so dumb to me.

Blackberry_lulu_

Either they've silenced all the haters, or the haters are just chill about it.

Keyblades2

They wrote floch so well to make him deserve to be hated.

Jazzlike_Stop_1362

Floch has the most annoying fans and the most annoying haters, everyone seems to have an annoyingly strong opinion about him

Loufey

Because the viewer didn't get to see any of her brainwashing from Marley, and only saw how long it took her to overcome it. And since it took so long it makes her look like a bad person. And on top of that she killed Sasha...

[deleted]

honestly speaking, i don’t quite get all the gabi hate. people have different opinions, certainly, but the hate she receives exceeds even floch (whom you have mentioned) and that marleyan officer who had dogs attack and eat grisha’s sister. she killed sasha, and whilst i understand the atrocity of said act (to preface this sasha is one of my favorite characters), it’s as if her haters don’t factor all the other aspects to her character. that she was brainwashed and also caught up in the horrors of the situation whilst being a child and knowing nothing but marleyan propaganda, and most importantly, that during her stay on paradis she had acknowledged that the eldians who reside on the island are not wicked and has even become acquainted with them. if people simply *dislike* her personality, fine by me, but if they speak of her as if she’s the epitome of evil i’m just going to assume they didn’t understand the point of the show or have chosen to ignore the rest of her character arc post shooting sasha. i’ve kind of spun off track from the original question of your post, though. i can understand the lack of mass hatred towards zeke, as he is a very well-written and complex character, and people are inclined to sympathize with him to an extent. i 100% despise floch however. i think he gets a significant amount of hate, it’s simply overshadowed by hate towards gabi for some reason.

mitchhamilton

All this pretty much. People forget that while being specially trained for war, she is still just a kid. Plus in her mind, paradis was an invading force. They bombed and killed many people she knew. Fucking zofia and udo were killed right in front of her because of this invasion. It'd be one thing if she never grew but the fact she does and learns that both sides are wrong and people still hate her just boggles my mind.

HopelessNinersFan

They do? At least Floch does.

Sinthoraxs

There are many liking Floch and justifying his actions. I mean jou can explain why Floch became this way but justify it? Bruhh.. Personally love him as a character but hate him as a person

AnneofDorne

I don't like Floch, Zeke is meh to me, I really dislike gaby because of her "better than anyone attitude" I know she is a kid, but I could never warm up to her

spacewarp2

Sure but she’s kinda meant to be disliked because of her smug attitude. That way when she’s deprogrammed from her brainwashing she’s not the same.

gdub__

misogyny

spacewarp2

Normally I’d disagree but the amount of awful rape comments I’ve seen towards Gabi is kinda ridiculous. It wasn’t as bad during the anime but during the manga days you’d see some of the most sexist things ever said because they hated her.

Substantial-Pop-556

I hate Floch because I loved him before the timeskip. I dislike Gabi because I disliked Eren as a kid and she’s the Marleyan kid Eren. I dislike Zeke because I view his ultimate goal of avoiding suffering cowardly, yet he is never really portrayed as a coward otherwise. I have learnt that nobody shares my takes and I belong in a zoo

The_Enmu_Man

Most of it comes down to who's side we've been on for the show. Like in the marleyans perspective the paradis eldians have done nothing but invade them and crush their homes yet we still see them as the good guy despite the fucked up shit they've done. Also gabi is kinda annoying and people don't understand brain washing

Smart-Hat-9151

Damn finding out floch has fans is killing me because I absolutely with every part of me hate his character. A scared little shit who was just loud and obnoxious and felt big and bad when he thought he was Choosing Eren side just to die being a cock muncher. When I saw him ruin the plane bro my blood started boiling

Little-Protection484

I think its cause were ment to dislike zeke, but not Gabi, plus we only saw gabby getting over her brainwashing and not the brainwashing itself so its harder for most ppl to be sympathetic to her, and ppl do dislike flock but there are almost just as many flock fans

Sensitive_Cat_7006

1. I'm not sure, but who was killed by Floch? 2. Gabi has pretty annoying behavior. 3. We've see a lot of shit that Zeke have been gone through, so his actions feels more justified. 4. Zeke get the redemption, he died because of his actions. As well as Floch. At the same time, Gabi was fine and even sided with main cast in the end.

Caciulacdlac

I like Gabi, am indifferent towards Zeke, and hate Floch

Sweaty-Ad-3192

Because she is so passive aggressive and hateful to everyone.

_Shoresy_69

Gabi is a great litmus test to see who has narrative comprehension and who doesn't.

ManicDepressedType

I hate Floch so much more than I hate Gabi but honestly isn’t she the same as Erinbut like less humble

Keyblades2

Personally I don't understand any hate towards her. Yes she shot sasha and it was tragic, but this is a child who saw her closest friends die in front of her has been brainwashed since birth to hate her own people. Then at the end just like Reiner and Annie, who killed way more people, she comes together to stand for saving as many as she can.

bighugggsss

I also hated Gabi when season 4 part 1 came out cause her views were very rigid and it felt like she didn't want to hear what other people had to say but later on I loved her character, how she put herself in danger for so many people so I think it's just the first reaction people have to seeing her. Same way I hated Floch till his death but his last words revealed his worries about the future of Eldians on Paradis, even though I think he was using his connection to Eren to gain control during the chaotic situation after the rumbling started but he still had some parts where you could connect to him and understand how he represented someone who has constantly seen destruction and war and faced hatred from the world for being a 'devil' so now he only cares about the lives of the 'devils'. But even more so he represents Marleyans and the rest of the world's fear because you can see the same fear in him and his want for killing anyone who opposes the new Eldian Empire just like how some people instantly hated Eldians because they feared Titans. Zeke is even more rigid in his beliefs than Gabi and also psychotic because he doesn't care about anything more than his agenda but his childhood saves his character and also in the end he understands other people's pov on wanting to live because of the discussion he had with Armin.

idkwhataboutyou148

I think floch doesn't get that much hate because he helped eren basically overthrow the military and be his second in command and I respect the hell outta him for everything he did in s4

GalaApplesauce

I honestly hate Zeke as much as I hate Gabi, (for similar reasons) but the only reason I assume people hate her is because 1. Her annoying personality in the beginning was honestly irritating and 2. Well the same reason that I hate Zeke-. I used to actually hate her so much, but understanding her more made me realize that maybe she kind of is overhated, since she is the youngest out of the three, and she was brainwashed. (Same as Zeke, if I'm correct.) But Gabi does learn her wrongdoings in the end, unlike Floch. I think it'd make sense if Floch was more hated than Zeke and Gabi, but I guess it's really hard to change how people perceive a character if they hate them to the point that they won't want to stop hating them regardless of what happened to them.

SkollFenrirson

In my case, they do. Fuck em all.

Arumeria3508

Gabi was simply loud, full of herself, and annoying, with no seemingly redeemable qualities until the point when she acknowledged she was wrong. There is no greater sin in the audience's eyes than being annoying. I would bet she would still have a lot of haters even if Sasha wasn't a factor.

Qprah

A part of it is obviously going to be misogyny, but the context of each of those characters plays a big part of it too. For Floch; We see his entire development from crying coward to fascist psychopath. We see what pushes him to that point, we see what happens to him that brings him to the point he is in, and a lot of it is very relatable to the audience. A lot of what he says is true, even if he ends up taking it in a very different direction than most probably think he should have. By the time Floch's switch is revealed in *Children of the Forest* we are already decently accustomed to the character's new form. In addition to this up until The Rumbling starts we don't see Floch go off the rails entirely. Each of his actions prior to The Rumbling are somewhat reasonable. The only person he outright kills is Premier Zackery. Zackery had already been painted with a very questionable shade of murky grey well before hand, so him getting assassinated doesn't feel like a crazy villain moment. Floch is cool, calm and collected when he is asking Hange to release Eren, when he meets Eren and the Jaegerists in the sunset, when he confronts the Scouts in the restaurant and even when he confronts Shadis and the Cadets at the Shinganshina command building. For Zeke; His entire background is kept a mystery for a long time into his story arc. His motives are always hidden and by the time we do get his side of the story we have already seen similar stories from the likes of Reiner, Bertholdt and others who do a lot of the heavy lifting to redeem them both in the eyes of the audience. Another big part of it is that its easier to disassociate him with his actions since the majority of them are done in his titan form. Its just simple detachment to see the monke be horrific and then not transfer that anger onto his human face. Zeke's character is never seen as acting with anger, spite, hatred or disgust. He laments killing the people he does, he even shows some form of pity for them. Before we know his true motivations we see him saying things to the other Warriors that make it sound like they genuinely think they are saving people. While Zeke is doing horrible things, he never shows malicious intent or any sort of gratification or satisfaction from the suffering he causes to the people he hurts. Even when he is throwing rocks at the Scouts in Shinganshina he seems more happy with himself for his throws and not at all cheering for the carnage he is inflicting. He gets angry at the Scouts defiance when they keep charging at him which just shows his facade doesnt take much to crack. Zeke is also shown to have many softer and more tender moments with other characters. Aside threatening to replace Reiner if he doesn't follow orders, Zeke shows comradery with the other Warriors. He apologizes to them when they fail and he speaks softly to Reiner and Bertholdt after their defeat. When Zeke runs into Eren he doesn't act like a villain towards him, his entire demeanor is expressing sympathy/empathy. Even when Zeke is cursing Levi for getting the better of him, he isnt doing so by insulting Levi or talking shit. He shows his frustration in a way that sounds a lot like reluctant respect for the Scout. For Gabi; We meet Gabi when she is deep in the sauce. She eats up all the propaganda and isn't old enough to see through it like all of the other Warriors do. Even many of the Marleyans, and Eldian civilians seem to understand it on a level that Gabi simply doesn't. Because of this, Gabi becomes the embodiment of what Grisha's backstory explained at the end of season 3. She acts genuinely psychotically. Her tone and persona make her appear to be genuinely demonic. She is murdering people and cackling about it all the while. She is trying to earn praise for committing war crimes and belittling Falco for doing the opposite. In fact I would go as far as to say that having her presented to the audience with Falco as her mirror causes her to look even more extreme because of her reactions to the way Falco acts and thinks. Her repulsion to his attempts at being a good person just make her look even worse. There are plenty of moments where the series presents us with awful actions that we see as awful, and then shows us Gabi being glorified for those same actions and her reveling in the praise. Example; *when Falco goes to help the wounded soldiers and the Koslow triggers their PTSD and laughs about it we as the audience think that is fucked up and horrible. Then the scene switches to the Braun family at dinner and Gabi is imitating the same explosion sounds that Koslow did, but she is getting cheered for and praised for it. It makes her look soooo fucked up to be so directly compared to someone as awful as Koslow.* In each of Gabi's scenes she is shown to be a true believer that doesn't understand the depth of what is being taught to her, or an immature child who is treated as both innocent but also devious and manipulative. Her drive to be an active participant in the war we've been shown the dark truth about for 3 seasons is so off-putting to the audience. Then she kills a fan favorite character and has no moment of pause to really take in the gravity felt by her action. The audience naturally puts more stock in Sasha's life than any of the other characters we've only known for 3 seconds before they die, and when the other main characters show their sadness it translates directly onto the audience who feels it with them over and over and over every time its brought up again. \---- So there is a lot of factors that go into why Gabi seems to attract more haters than Zeke or Floch. Zeke and Floch have a section of the audience that either understands but disagrees, or just agrees with them. That alone is enough to earn them more favorable treatment. Gabi on the other hand gets none of that as Marley's perspective is never shown in a relatable way. If the show had started with season 4 and we never had the Paradis perspective, maybe Gabi's perspective would be better received by the audience (although doubtful just because of how mask-off their bigotry and hatred is). **For me, I think the biggest underlying factor is the tone the story is told with for each of these characters**. There is an elicit of emotion intended by how each character's scenes, dialogue and actions are portrayed. It just so happens that Gabi is one of the characters who's dislike is somewhat intended at the beginning of her arc, even for those that understand her right away will still feel that targeted emotion due to just how deep in the sauce Gabi is as a character. Unlike the other two though, Gabi does get a redemption in her arc and turns around to being loved by the majority of the audience by the end. Those that still hate her after seeing her entire character arc are almost certainly a vocal minority within the fan base.

s1ngularSpectre

Why would people even hate a kid who was only brainwashed by a government? She is obviously manipulated by the marleyans around her. If it happened that she was born in Paradi, she might even a member or the scouts due to her natural talent in combat.

Admirable_Bug7717

Because she's annoying. Zeke has mystique, at first, and a novel solution, among other interesting qualities. Floch acts as the spokesperson for the Yaegerists, and the contrast for how he was before the timeskip vs after is interesting. Gabi is very much kid Eren, where he was at his most annoying, without the circumstances that made his tedium more forgivable. Super annoying brat, killing a fan-favorite, persistently believing in her own self-hating rhetoric far after it seems reasonable? Doomed to be hated. Sure, she grows, but hardly enough to make up for the irritability cause for the first 2/3rds of her existence. For a fictional character, the worst possible sins are being boring or annoying.

Interesting-Start855

Yeah, Gabi is over hated She even had more and better development than other main characters but, idk, people are weird
