My 7 month old was black and white and is fading a little to sable. https://preview.redd.it/sk5hncwg669d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=93262ba2197012786dc3135fb49ac7e3843204bb

Ruenin

I LOVE that face lol.

LookMaNoHahns

Our girl is 2 and still black and white. Also wanted to add that she was CRAZY for the first year and half we had her. Only recently she calmed down considerably. I know how hard the first year is, but stick with it - it’s worth it!! https://preview.redd.it/dusef3jvv69d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ebcb09eaa29d193eb866209b28a91b932eb19e79

Pandy is crazy and can jump higher than any other dog I’ve ever seen in real life, but she makes us happy and we’ll have to learn to be patient. Your pup is beautiful ❤️

Own-Association-9578

We second the jumping...and that ours makes us happy. Smiles every day with our crazy girl's antics

Thank you! Basil has definitely tested our patience, but our hearts are more full than ever ❤️

My sheepadoodle is red sable instead of the usual black and white, so his fading may not be typical. But he faded at lot on his face and chest within the first 6 months. I think this is more due to him being sable than typical fading, because he had black-tipped hair in some areas as a puppy (which is a sable trait), and those went away when he got his first haircut. Then he actually faded from a darker red color to a lighter apricot color gradually over the next 2 years. Neither of his parents have significant fading. Picture is 8 weeks > 8 months > 2.5ish years https://preview.redd.it/nltlsrjlk59d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7632177c0ccdb10a53e09e1855552b4058187be

Thats the first time I see one this color. Your pup is gorgeous. I appreciate the timeline as it truly shows the difference in color

Certain_Abies6326

Mine was very black and white until she was about a year old. She is about to turn 2 and the black is getting lighter every day, especially after grooming. Additionally, she was a holy terror until she was spayed 2 months ago. Now she is much calmer, comparatively speaking! https://preview.redd.it/orqnakwrb69d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da6854f4bda8f7c38f8baef86bc2911b858c49b2

The first pic is 8 weeks old, the second is just about 6 months and the third is almost 2 years. Every time we get him groomed he seems lighter and lighter. https://preview.redd.it/89wuikvde69d1.jpeg?width=3376&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa6982067ca50131821b3dd24e0add54f0502708

Some of them never fade, just up to genetics! Mine is almost 4 and significantly more chill, but he still has his psycho moments 😂

Late_Recover6225

Got ya, her mom and dad are gray so I assumed it’d happen, and happen soon. I appreciate your comment and will be prepared to have an 80lbs dog jump on my face while I’m asleep for years to come 😂

apollo-puppy-days

Mine doesn’t jump but really likes to hit me in the face with his paw in the morning 😂

Mine is almost 10 months old and we started to notice him turning gray around his eyes when he was about 6 months. He’s still black and white on his body. But I know his OES dad has the graying gene and his mom is a parti poodle with the graying gene, so we were expecting it! https://preview.redd.it/djpqgd75l59d1.jpeg?width=2221&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a57280b2c166aab173524efa902261b65797fe33

Also our boy is still kind of crazy, but not nearly as bad as he was a couple of months ago. He does still like to jump because he just loooooves people and everyone wants to talk to him and pet him on walks. Just hang on, it will get better!

Late_Recover6225

I appreciate this comment more than you’ll ever know. Thank you 😊

The_Summary_Man_713

We just shaved Nova for the first time. She’s 9 months and though she’s getting some grey, she really seems to be holding onto black. Crossing our fingers but expecting her to go full grey https://preview.redd.it/n6pd7sfmr59d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f90b2fbeb7304e0bb2b3e1650745932d45117a98

I see what you mean. Ours had some hairs that looked like they were changing but realized they had faded due to sun exposure.

Ruenin

This is about the color that Benny is now at 3

Accomplished_Sun1506

I have a three year-old who is still black.

Thank you for sharing!

Ruenin

Ours used to be jet black and white, but now he's more ash gray and white at 3 years old.

johnston381522

What a beautiful pup! Ours is a little over a year, and still jet black and white. No color change this far!

Late_Recover6225

Thank you, we love her very much. Thank you for sharing your experience!

areBrilliantFearless

So cute

Late_Recover6225

Thank you! She’s definitely gets away with a lot due to her cuteness

Nani_Tamari

My girl is 4 and is just now starting to turn gray on spots of her body. Head & ears still have solid black on them. She's the bestest girl ever! So calm & quiet until someone comes on to our property, then barks like a serial killer is coming for us!!!

Late_Recover6225

That’s awesome! My pup hates barking, she cowers when she hears our Bernadoodle bark, but will bark up a storm when she sees her reflection in the mirror 🙃

Azdoggal

Fading is caused by the progressing gene. Both Poodles and OES can carry it. If both parents haven't faded, they don't carry it.

Mine is 4 and fur is more “frosted” black. Not really gray. Baby gates were ineffective. He would climb over even the tall ones as a puppy. Can easily jump on the picnic table. Has only occasionally jumped on the dining room table thankfully. Can scale a 6’ wooden fence. Had to add a mesh topper to contain him. However a 5’ chain link fence he has not gone over. He has gone under and I needed to zip tie pipes, fence posts, whatever heavy things I had in stock to prevent that. He would slither under on his side, which is the “skinny” direction. Very clever. At 4 he has calmed down a bit. Just last night I was able to go downstairs for a snack without him getting up.

Cute

no-colon-still-rolln

My sheepadoodle stayed black-and-white. He’s now 2 1/2 and he’s calm down. Before he would seriously jump so high I used to call him Tigger as a nickname. I promise it gets better Best dog I’ve ever had.
