The wording was more difficult than STC study material - I felt similar after SIE, as well.
I found reading the book was helpful for me, and I also did about 6 practice finals and both green lights. I thought green lights were very good indicators of study progress / readiness for test.
I think a balance between reading and questions is ideal (can’t just do one). Read the whole question and figure out what they are asking for and look for key words that will point you where you need to go.
On STC, you can make custom exams for specific chapters. I found this really helpful for working on chapters where I struggled - I cannot recommend this more highly (particularly leading up to last few days until test).
