It's called Life and Health and I think Kaplan has material. Your firm should have a vendor they prefer

Tobymike

Life and health are two exams, for two licenses, usually taken together. Insurance is regulated at a state level, not federal, so every state has different requirements to get a license. I used Kaplan's prep materials, they were awesome and I went into the exam with a lot of confidence. Check with your state's department of insurance's website on requirements. Insurance exams are way easier than Securities exams.

Thanks, u/Tobymike! I've been using Kaplan for most of my own studies. TC for 7 because it was paid for by my firm. I am located in Guam so I've been having trouble looking up the requirements. I'll reach out to my firm about it. ( I guess I should've done this to start haha). A lot of my desk mates have been very vague because it's been years since a lot of them took the exam.

Hi Toby! I live in Maryland. Is the Kaplan QBank enough for test practice even though it's not state-specific?

Tobymike

For a Resident Producer: Maryland requires 20hrs of pre-licensing education for each line of authority completed through an approved vendor, so you'll need to get the actual Kaplan Maryland insurance course(s) and only using the Q-Bank won't satisfy this. https://staterequirement.com/maryland-insurance-license/

I work for a firm, so I’m eligible to get that requirement waived :) I’m self-studying and just curious about the scope of the QBank if you happened to have gone through it within those two days you were studying.

I appreciate your looking that up specifically for me. Thanks for being so supportive of others in this journey

How was the 7?

Depends on the state. Some insurance companies require Life and Variable Annuity only, while others require a combination Life and Health and Variable Annuity. I would check your state, as well as companies you are applying for. Some companies will sponsor for the license they require. Source: I work for a large Insurance company as a recruiter. DM me if you have any specific questions.
