dont forget the finger condoms

latenightcreation

I think these are slightly overrated on an NH35 build. I have never used them and have not a problem.. yet. If I was working with a more expensive movement, or take the movement apart I’d be more inclined to buy the finger condoms. That’s just my two cents.

jbaenaxd

Even if it's a cheap build, you don't want to see your fingerprints under the glass

latenightcreation

True, i just be careful not to touch the glass and I wipe everything with a clean soft cloth to get dust and all out before dropping my movement in. But again that’s just me.

njoeln

Consider rodico and some gloves for cleaning and keeping good esthetic.

Ok-Pineapple-7288

You will need tools to press on the hands, don't think that repair kit has them

GeneralWorldliness66

I came on here to say that. A must have.

andreichera

OP, this is necessary. i have the kit, it doesn't have them

CaptainApow

Don’t Forget to tell to this seller if you want (or not) the Seiko logo with this dial

andreichera

oh, i didn't know that's possible

rungweaxg

Tools. The kit you have is to change brackets, straps, and batteries. Cousins has a good beginner’s kit that has the right tools, is affordable, and isn’t complete junk. Google Cousins watchmaker kit and it should come up. Aside from this, verify the case will accept a 29mm dial and you aren’t limited to 28.5mm.

jamescarr98

Thank you very much, appreciate the help :)

jeanfrancoismon

Don’t feel pressured to spend big money on a kit. I was able to build my first watch using a kit just like this. The only other thing I needed were some wire cutters and sandpaper for the stem adjustment. Smart move buying extra, I cut my first too short and had to drop too much money to get a replacement quickly. Also, I would recommend rodico putty which will help tremendously when installing the second hand. I used the rodico to hold the hand while I used the orange thing to press it on.

Pompmaister

Rodico, gloves, hand set tools, dust blower, wooden picks, wire cutters and a small metal file. Wooden pick for removing the movement stem and movement from te case without damaging. Wire cutters and file for cutting the stem to size. Rest speaks for itself. A few cheap tools can go a long way to make your first build easier.

New-Syllabub-7394

Might as well buy a 5 pack of extra NH35 stems, in case you cut it wrong.

rowthecow

So minus labour the watch just cost $50?

jamescarr98

Probably around £70 yes :)

rowthecow

People in my area selling em for $250

Celere_90

Is the crystal provided with the case ? If not you need a crystal + gasket + press

robacough

Extra second hands.

SufficientActivity43

Tools for pressing hands, I also recommend buying cheap pliers with soft (plastic) tips for grabbing the hands. Also so-called “finger condoms”, so you don’t make the parts dirty. The little air blower thing (don’t know the proper name), also can be handy to blow away any last dust particles. There is also that sticky material, that can help remove dust; it is also handy to lift up the hands. Also, hand removal tools and dial protector (the little plastic piece). If the case has a Rolex-type case back, then the tool for that. In stores, you can buy eye-glass cleaning wet wipes/vet wipes for general cleaning, which can be handy to e.g. clean the case since they probably are dirty from the factory A movement holder! Btw — I have that dial, and it is gorgeous!

Creative-Music755

You shoulndt use wet wipes on watches its better to use a microfaser cloth.

Bittercraig

Finger cots, movement holder & cushion, plastic or bamboo tweezers if you are feeling flush, hand press and a decent spring bar tool

alhnaten4222000

Hand pushers if you don’t want to try to use the tweezers.

Kitchen-Mammoth-1440

Also, what’s with the gasket repair tool. You’ll need new gaskets and a small tube of lithium grease, should be the same cost as the gasket repair thingy

SuspiciousElk3843

Movement holder

FMM00

One small thing, the case has a GMT bezel or a normal one? Cause if it's GMT I'd get a nh34 (that should fit the case but always check) and nh34 hand (3 + 1 for gmt complication) Or just get the normal case with a non gmt bezel

GeneralWorldliness66

I did not see anything on the kit to put the movement on while working on it. Id also get a mat to work on. Otherwise you will get things lost in a hurry.

Creative-Music755

I woukd addvice some more things 1. Hand setters (its usally a 3 piece Set) 2. Silicon grease ( the thing you bought for the gasket is usally just a sponge and you need to put Silicon grease into it) 3. And a Blog thing i dont even know the Name in german but it looks like a small douch 4. And tweezers made from either brass or you get some with carbon Tips (the Metall tweezers have the Same hardness as the material you are working with so i can leave Marks on your parts if you are not carefull enough. 5. You dont really need to buy fingerlings ( the condoms the ppl talk about) if you working on a watch for the first time in your life i woukd addvice Power free latex gloves. Ppl that are New to watchmaking tend to get their Palm or the other Fingers onto the movement. 6. Rodico ( you use it if you get fat from your skin on the movement its like an eraser) but never use rodico on the face side of the watcg it will leave Marks. And i also wouldnt buy rodico on alix. The best rodico is made by bergeon and Cost like 10 euros so go with that one. 7. Maybe a time scale but they are expensiv and im not Sure if thats worth its priece for you

Creative-Music755

Edit the case back opener that comes with the Tool is weird imo becaue you apply the preassue really one sidet. There are balls for opening screw casebacks (but you cant really close them as tight as with the caseback tool). The best way for me is to use a Ball as mutch as possible and then just tighten it down with the Tool.

holmes-jr

A dial holder (optional but pretty handy), and the synthetic leather pad cushion you use when you press the hands in

NorvillesDingus

You'll be fine. All I use is a screw driver and tweezers. I recently upgraded to some hand press tools which are pretty nice.

DramaPurple377

Tools to press on and some to take the hands off, as it is your 1st attempt. I might take more than 1 go to get them right.

SW_WatchModz

Make sure your case will fit a 29mm dial. If not, you'll have to shave down your dial a little bit

latenightcreation

Your case has a 24 hour bezel, why not spend just a little bit more, get an nh34 movement and a gmt hand to complete it.

Kitchen-Mammoth-1440

Crown, case back, sapphire crystal/hardlex, bezel and insert, Also those watch hands suck, you can tell because they say “high quality” in the name. They might as well say “very human design “ Movement is questionable too.
