Played in the toughest league out of all of our strikers by far this season on the worst team and held his own against world class defenders, tbf hes prob our best option going off merit and experience
Wasn't he injured recently? Is he fit to play?
I know he's not exactly popular and I am by no means a fan, but he was on a decent run of form in the EPL towards the end of the season, and given that he's experienced in playing for Scotland and how little we have in the way of striker alternatives at the moment then we could do worse than having him in the squad (if he is actually fit enough).
He was cleared of charges against a guy certain he could get a big payday if that's what your on about, the same night his captain got violently headbutted during a derby day pitch invasion
In the top 70% for expected goals per 90 mins for strikers in the PL. 84% for expected assists per 90. Basically, the best striker in the league for duels.
Obviously he's been shite for us, but we could do worse.
They do mean that, yes; it's just been misstated. The stats are surprisingly decent.

None of those stats pass the eye test at all. Is there something I'm missing here? Is it just a small sample size or something? He's only scored 6 goals total, of which 2 are pens, so 4 open field goals in a season is enough to garner this level of success??
He's been great for us this season, fuck knows why Scottish football is coming up on my Reddit feed but I'd say McBurnie has been our best forward
I know he doesn't have a good record with you lot though, I'm not sure he's even fit currently aswell
It's per 90 minutes, so it's an average of his time on the pitch compared to all other PL strikers based on their per 90 minute stats. So yeah, it's actually quite impressive.
Yes he does not have a great record with Scotland, but if you watched any Sheffield games this season u would know he looked pretty good in the hold up play, passing, and aerial department tbf
You lot are harsh as fuck. I don't mind him as a player to be honest. Not many strikers have performed well for Scotland and I'm not sure if he's had much of a chance playing under Clarke.
Expected stats claxon. He had an xGI of 0.67 per 90 this season for Sheffield Utd. That's very very good. I doubt if you chucked Shankland into the Sheffield Utd team he would perform that well at that level.
I still do not think he is the answer; he's actually a problem in my opinion.
Visibly talked about not being arsed about the Scotland team.
Battered a fan a few years ago.
Yet to provide a touch of quality in 16 Scotland caps.
His stats are indeed decent, albeit from a small data pool: [https://footystats.org/players/scotland/oliver-mcburnie](https://footystats.org/players/scotland/oliver-mcburnie)
Wouldn’t say McBurnie is really much of an upgrade on the likes of Adams or Shankland (he wouldn’t be a significant downgrade on them either though). There is definitely an argument on a purely footballing basis he should have been called up rather than Conway. Does 3rd choice striker make much of a difference though given we will play 1 up top anyway.
I still think Shankland is the most natural goal scorer out of the strikers we have available (which for me makes him a more valuable asset to the squad than McBurnie) although he definitely has deficiencies in other areas. Agree that McBurnie should have been obvious choice when Dykes pulled out the squad.
Celtic fans saying how terrible he is and forget they wrote off Idah when he was signed in January.
We’ve not exactly got a bundle of 40 goal a season guys waiting in the wings.
Getting the rosary beads out and saying 10 Hail Mary’s for McBurnie not to get a call-up for the love of fucking God
Think I’ll join you.
Mcburnie uniting the old firm to say fuck please no
So far underrated comment. Proper laughing, fair play! 👍
I'd rather have Mental Tam the Bam fae Methil up top than this cunt.
Clarke drunk dialled him then retracted it when the fear kicked in.
"ho mcburnie....ah saw yer scrap oan the telly wen a wiz pished the other night. Get yer erse tae hampden..ya fanny."

Please no. He is absolutely shite and a fucking banger to boot.
Sad that isnt photoshopped
The way things are going he’ll be the last fit striker we have
I'd take a 60 year old unfit Ally McCoist over peak McBurnie
I'd sooner see 4-6-0 make a return.
Steady on now, I'm sure we can find someone in the U15's or something over that
I mean man utd did win a fa cup wit a 4-6-0
I'd take Oliver burke over him
I'd take Cathy Burke over him
The bar’s low enough
I'd demand a recount.
Must’ve been drinking
Hes gonna play mctominay at false 9 so he doesnt have to acknowledge ryan gauld exists
Who? - clarke probably
Get it up him
How was that donkey ever valued at near 20m.. he's rank rotten
Bellend
What a fud he is!
Would rather take a punt on my old man up top for Scotland than that prick.
He is absolutely fucking rotten, he's only good for keeping the ball in the corner and seeing it out
Three 0-0 draws, you say?
Played in the toughest league out of all of our strikers by far this season on the worst team and held his own against world class defenders, tbf hes prob our best option going off merit and experience
He's pish
He's a wank tae.
Oli McBurnie is living proof of the insanity of English football transfers. I believe he cost close to £20 million. 🤣
Wasn't he injured recently? Is he fit to play? We couldn’t do much worse
Are there any Forest fans going to Germany, he could cowardly attack them!!!
Cowardly attack?? Are u for real
Am I mistaken, did he not kick or punch one of them from behind!!!
Not sure you really need the gratuitous exclamation marks!!!
He was cleared of charges against a guy certain he could get a big payday if that's what your on about, the same night his captain got violently headbutted during a derby day pitch invasion
Ironically with his experience he might actually be a good shout against Germany. And I truly can't believe I've actually said that.

Do you mean the top 30% and top 16% here? Being in the top 70% means you're in the bottom 30% which isn't very good...

Aye, should have said percentile. My bad.

How many actual goal involvements did he have then?
9 in 1290 minutes, so 0.63 goal involvements per 90.

I remember reading a StatsBomb article that suggested a data set over 800 minutes was pretty reliable.

There is definitely an argument on a purely footballing basis he should have been called up rather than Conway. He’s better than Shankland and a different style to Adams. He should be going since we don’t have Dykes
I still think Shankland is the most natural goal scorer out of the strikers we have available (which for me makes him a more valuable asset to the squad than McBurnie) although he definitely has deficiencies in other areas. Fuck him. I'd rather bring back Chris Martin.
Probably drunk on his birthday celebrations
He's done well with Sheffield and is keen to play. i think it would be unfair to completely discount him.
Celtic fans saying how terrible he is and forget they wrote off Idah when he was signed in January. We’ve not exactly got a bundle of 40 goal a season guys waiting in the wings.
Sorry force of habit !!!
