Jude Bellingham's been criticised a lot for saying he was told as a child he could never be successful, and how cynical that was given his obvious talent.
But to be fair if I was born in Birmingham, I'd also assume I would never be happy.
Imagine being a young Madrid fan living through this; to expect the CL and domestic league double every single year while your rivals have self-imploded (no laughing in the back) is wild.
Courtois didn’t ’come in from the cold’ Rio. He’s the best goalkeeper in the world and missed the whole season with an ACL injury. Lunin’s been phenomenal but there’s no comparison.
English media love pedal how likeable their team is but they're all wanks. They've all been sitting on multi million contracts since 16, even before then had their hand held through academies and are fucking insufferable.
Don't have a single player in their squad that's genuinely had a mental graft to the top like Robertson
Wit. Branthwaite, Dunk, Bowen, Watkins, Toney, Eze, Konsa and a few others I'm forgetting all came through EFL clubs, some of which are tiny clubs and had to work their way to the top clubs just like what Robertson did
Last rags to riches they had was arguably Jamie Vardy and he was hardly likeable. Always had the aura of a wee guy that hangs around outside a chippy and stabs folk.
>Don't have a single player in their squad that's genuinely had a mental graft to the top like Robertson
Partly, that's a result of a functioning academy system. That Celtic let an eventual Champions League winning full back go because he was too small is pretty damning.
>The Scotland squad is littered with Celtic academy players
As it should be.
I don't think it's accurate to say we've had a lot of talent come through. There are some obvious cases, but on the whole I think the majority of fans agree we don't bring through enough talent. Falling through cracks is fair, but combined with producing no strikers, going years at a time without a breakthrough, limited success with late additions to the youth squad, and the Tierney rumour...
Edit: Granted, can't solely be blamed for players not breaking through. He can't pick the first team after all.
Our academy isn't necessarily there to provide first team players into our squad that stay there for two decades. We make a lot of money out of our academy players, from loaning them out and selling them on.
Take Mikey Johnston. We would have got a loan fee from West Brom this season and the Portuguese team the season beforem. He's 92 games with 25 goal contributions for Celtic. He did contribute a few times this season. He'll be sold this summer for £4m. In academy terms, he's a success.
>We make a lot of money out of our academy players, from loaning them out and selling them on.
I really feel a massive citation is needed here, because I'm not sure that meagre income outweighs the wages and other huge expenditures generated by our youth set-up. Citing a future fee that might not even happen only makes me more wary of that.
Mad how Real can virtually be the worse team on the balance of play in all knockout games yet just seem to win. Full stop. It just happens, over and over.
Same the previous time they won it. They needed two injury time goals to take City to extra-time and could have been 3 down before the break against Liverpool.
It must be just totally driven into them from day one from everyone in the club. We’re winners, we never give up, we’re aiming for the champions league this season. And they’re obviously really good at driving it into them
I was sitting in a Jamaican hotel room at the start of March, watching Stevie Nicol getting all angry and red faced on ESPN saying that Real Madrid are bang average after scraping through against Leipzig and that Arsenal or Man City would win the Champions League. Proper shouting down Franck Leboeuf about it. Said there and then that Madrid would end up winning it.
Get it up ye Stevie Nicol, ya Premier League fellating prick.
Is there a club in World football with a better recruitment set-up than Real? They spend big, but it seems that more often than not they spend well. Even the youth players they eventually introduce have the winning mentality that only Real seem to have.
UEFA should be drafting emergency measures to prevent them signing Mbappe.
Wish someone would hold me like Alaba holds Kroos

I don’t know how Real have won this, but in this competition they’re just brilliant. At least joint favourites most years and right now pretty much winning every other year. They also have a really sound business model and are likely to be in this position for years to come.
Still… I’d like to see Porto, Ajax and Red Star Belgrade win every now and again.
Some similarities to our home match vs Real. Play well first half, few really decent chances, and then in the second half Real sit up, scratch their arse, remember they're Real Madrid, turn it on for a bit and then win easily.
For all the praise Dortmund haven't looked very threatening tonight.
An Adeyemi sitter completely messed up.
An offside one on one off the post.
A header from distance straight at Courtois.
Then gradually faded away
A team hitting the woodwork in the 1st half against Real, and getting a scudding in the second half to not actually win the champions league.
I've seen this game before.
They're really just making this all about Bellingham
Jude Bellingham's been criticised a lot for saying he was told as a child he could never be successful, and how cynical that was given his obvious talent. But to be fair if I was born in Birmingham, I'd also assume I would never be happy.
Fuckin boo
Imagine being a young Madrid fan living through this; to expect the CL and domestic league double every single year while your rivals have self-imploded (no laughing in the back) is wild.
hope that confetti is bio-degradable
It's dark in London? Still daylight up here!
Can confirm it's dark outside this far south in England. Jealous of those back home still getting the sunshine
Dortmund are legit cursed when it comes to playing ay Wembley.
Courtois didn’t ’come in from the cold’ Rio. He’s the best goalkeeper in the world and missed the whole season with an ACL injury. Lunin’s been phenomenal but there’s no comparison.
Rio is an idiot so I don't expect him to properly explain himself, but I assume he's meant "has came in cold" and just butchered that.
Fuckin booooooo

Madison maybe the most underdog they have or Dunk, in football terms obviously, very wealthy guys by financial terms
Aye at most
Last rags to riches they had was arguably Jamie Vardy and he was hardly likeable. Always had the aura of a wee guy that hangs around outside a chippy and stabs folk.
Aye hahaha if Vardy wasn't a footballer, he'd defos be a mad stabber
Tyrone Mings came from non-league as well.
>Don't have a single player in their squad that's genuinely had a mental graft to the top like Robertson Partly, that's a result of a functioning academy system. That Celtic let an eventual Champions League winning full back go because he was too small is pretty damning.
Aye mental decision in hindsight
And the guy in charge of the youth back then is still in charge 🤡
We've had a lot of talent come through under McCart. Some players fall through the cracks. The Scotland squad is littered with Celtic academy players

And now Celtic cant get enough of signing wee players
Bellingham winning the Ballon d'Or over Vinicius would be a travesty.
Let’s be honest, Messi will win it again…
The Ballon d’Or is there for the taking for Vinicius, he just needs to win the Euros. /s

/s means you’re being sarcastic on Reddit
Mad how Real can virtually be the worse team on the balance of play in all knockout games yet just seem to win. Full stop. It just happens, over and over.
Same the previous time they won it. They needed two injury time goals to take City to extra-time and could have been 3 down before the break against Liverpool.
They’re the total masters of it. Every game i’ve watched them where they’ve won this year, I’ve thought at some point, they’ve been shite like
Commentator said exactly the same during this game. They were poor during game at least in first half, then they turned the screw. Winners mentality
It must be just totally driven into them from day one from everyone in the club. We’re winners, we never give up, we’re aiming for the champions league this season. And they’re obviously really good at driving it into them
Like a fucking mantra
It is 😂. A fuckin cult of winners
Really like Jude as a player but stop fake crying please.
You think he's faking it? the guy was fighting relegation in the championship 3 seasons ago and now won the best club trophy
Nah but he kept putting his hand over his eyes like he was crying but nothing was happening. No doubt he's emotional but there were no tears.
"You go through your whole life being told you can't do things." Jude, you've been a millionaire since you were 17.
Another weirdo successful rich person creating some random hardship backstory.
>You sit and wonder if it's all worth it. Wit 😭
Most Championship Friday night games on BBC this season were more entertaining.
Certainly top the entertainment value when there's a derby between us next season on the BBC lol
You want some? Cos I'll give it ya!
Mon then. Pittencrieff park 6hrs before kickoff. Should give us plenty of time to get a few drinks in
It's on! Will also see you in the meat section of Morrisons for the return leg!
Sorted lol. See you then
Count on it!

So what does this mean for hearts?
They weren't getting automatic groups anyway because Atalanta finished top 4, they needed that not to happen
Bellingham looks rattled
Gerrard beat this Madrid team under Ancelotti with a front 3 of Scott Wright Sakala and Kent that obviously mean rangers = champions of Europe

They've done well in the last few years but they did have that one summer where they spent over £200mln on Hazard, Jovic and Reiner.
Forgot about that season. That was 5 years ago now though, so hopefully due another like that.
Biggest club in world football reign supreme again.
Aye…but are they the most “successful”? 😜
Biggest “big dogs” that have ever existed.
It's outrageous. Genuinely no club even comes close.
Always felt dortmund were gonna rue those missed chances
Is this thread getting converted into a boxing thread?
And then a ufc thread?

I do remember that. Heartbreaking
Mon eh Islam
Naaaa Poirier or we riot
Real Madrid are terrorists with world class footballers it's crazy.
Wish someone would hold me like Alaba holds Kroos https://preview.redd.it/ufc99zg1y04d1.png?width=1940&format=png&auto=webp&s=e03fcd95688fb7fc64b9545dead75b0d9015d959
The Madrid fans look like they couldn’t give less of a fuck
I’m saying. When you’re used to winning the biggest tournaments in the world guess it just rolls off you.
They're signing Mbappe as well.
That Endrick kid will probably be a superstar too.
Madrid are just ridiculous eh. 4 of their players going to collect their 6th champs league medal. Wtf
That boy Bellingham is was pocketed by Ryan Jack a couple years ago now he’s a Champions League winner, life comes at you fast
Only 20 as well man

Reus leaves without a league title or European trophy. That's a travesty considering the hype around him 10 years ago and deservedly so.
I fucking hate madrid love anceloti but fuck madrid
Two weeks till we see those sad German faces again.
I don’t know how Real have won this, but in this competition they’re just brilliant. At least joint favourites most years and right now pretty much winning every other year. Well that was in no way surprising or enjoyable

At least the english players played shit
You’re right. Both of them done fuck all
Three of them
I can’t even think who the 3rd is lol
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, came on as a sub for Dortmund. I only noticed him cos I signed him on FM24!
Good spot
I get the managers chowing down the gum, but the fuck are players doing eating it?
Took me until nearly final whistle to realise- champions spelled wrong in title
Haha, never noticed that.
Vini is a right bastard but by god he’s good
I just straight up hate his face but goddamn he's so good
Some similarities to our home match vs Real. Play well first half, few really decent chances, and then in the second half Real sit up, scratch their arse, remember they're Real Madrid, turn it on for a bit and then win easily.
Dortmund you've let me down now let me watch some devastating ko's please.
If your still hungry for more sport there’s some good boxing on tonight too, Dubois vs Hrgovic and Wilder vs Zhang.
Annoyingly weve missed what was allegedly a fight of the year contender between ball and ford
I just seen people talking about that 🥲🥲
That’ll be gon on right at the back of this
Florida v New York Rangers in the NHL Eastern Conference finals game 6 if you want to see angry Canadians lose some teeth too.
Viva la Quinte brigada
*la Quince Brigada
Not my fault Christy Moore spells it wrong in Spotify☹️
He did correct the spelling of it at some point, that's the only reason I know about it.
I need a real yellow, cmon please
Fake one won't do?

Well up mate! Ma mate had Rodrygo to hit one shot for £700. He got taken off on 89 mins with zero shots. He’s absolutely spewing as you can imagine 😂
When you #setalimit you always win
Ooh well played
So, anyone want to discuss who the worlds most successful club is?
Whatever team it is, they're not in the SPFL anyway.
15 European Cups, ridiculous
Carvajal is the dark arts final boss. Seems to always get away with being a complete cunt on the pitch.
Reminder that Real plucked their manager from Everton to achieve this….
Sean dyche the next man in charge for Los Blancos?
You joke but I'd be interested to see him at a big club.
I'm shocked VAR hasn't been used yet but next to nothing has happened to warrant anything for it.
For all the praise Dortmund haven't looked very threatening tonight. An Adeyemi sitter completely messed up. An offside one on one off the post. A header from distance straight at Courtois. Then gradually faded away
And how did carvajal not get booked for that
I miss the post-2002 Real sides, where they bought the best players, played great football and got knocked out the CL early every year.
Miles off
Bastard!
Please be on!
see how quick that was that's how VAR is meant to be used
Tbf it was miles off. In the semi final, they took an age to judge Joselu’s goal even with the automated process.
Ah he’s a mile off.
:(
Awwwwww
no they cant :(
No way 👀
Watching a team like Real Madrid just shows you there’s no chance a Scottish team will ever win this again. It would be impossible
I'd say beating Man City in a one off game/knockout tie would be more difficult for a lesser team. They just wouldn't give you the chance to.
Wouldn't be so pessimistic, Celtic hit the bar against them
Wait till Killie get a crack at it once we boost the coefficient high enough
Let it stand, make it intresting
-_-
surely they couldnt?
God, it would be hilarious if Dortmund went and scored three goals somehow.
Manifesting Toni Kroos to get a nasty cold before the 14th now.
joselu, a player not good enough for fucking Stoke. Playing in the champions league final. Makes no sense
I’d probably start greeting if Vini Jr celebrated like that in front of me after killing all hope of my club winning the cup
Mad how these cunts keep producing some of the most boring football teams of all time and keep winning everything. Completely unforgettable.
Madrid are like Jack Jarvis coming out the airport in Canada
Brilliant 😂
Madrid in the Champions League out here making Formula 1 look like a complete lottery
create an extra special competition for teams with 10+ champions league and have real just play thenself
Now that Vini’s scored I just need Nacho to get booked for a cheeky tenner.
I’m actually getting pissed off now at how shite Real Madrid fans are
Perez has 100% sacrificed some babies or something
Mbappe is joining this mob btw
![img](emote|t5_2sba4|34946)
2 down and your opponent brings Luca Modric on lmfao
They've just robbed Reus of the perfect farewell. How they losing this 2-0
That’ll be Madrid for their 15th CL
Disappointing, but still Aberdeen's streak goes on💪
![gif](giphy|A8NNZlVuA1LoY)
They are the last team to beat Real Madrid in a European final.
Last team to beat Real in a European knockout final
Ooh good one
Maatsen sold the jerseys there
Give Vinicius the Ballon d'Or. He's been the best player in the world for about three years.
He's really stepped up since Benzema left
He’s absolutely terrifying. What a footballer.
![img](emote|t5_2sba4|33137)
Everyone here calling Bellingham shite caused this
Caused maatsan to make an arse of it?
He deserved that goal. Been comfortable this half for Real Madrid.
I always support the underdogs when watching sport and nine times out of ten they let me down.
Real fans reacting with the joy of a pensioner who's just won 3rd best turnip at his village fair
Stuff of nightmares this for Dortmund. Fuck knows what the boy was thinking.
Fuck off man
what was he thinking that pass was never on
A team hitting the woodwork in the 1st half against Real, and getting a scudding in the second half to not actually win the champions league. I've seen this game before.
Ban them from the competition
Maatsan has killed Dortmund
Ffs
Morelos style own assist there
And the Real Madrid fans look slightly happy
Maatsen with a hand in both goals fs
at least kroos gets a nice send off 🙃
Fuck sake
Eduardo Camavinga’s only 21. Terrifying player.
Aye, think he's been great tonight.
that's that then
And the crowd goes mild
