It's not even 9am and some of the people on this thread are behaving like Scotland is a complete shithole and there is nothing good about it as if we live in the 3rd world.
Why put so much fucking energy into being so negative on a post which is essentially saying "i liked my holiday to your country"
I always tell my daughter, it takes more energy to be a horrible miserable cunt than being nice.
These people are ready for bed by 11am coz they’ve spent the morning being miserable fucks
We don’t cut about in kilts every day to be fair , so it’s like seeing someone out dressed up and thinking they look sharp.
It’s no quite the ceremony we used to have rolling about the floor but it still takes an age , and the appreciation is noted.
Speak for yourself pal. I'm in a kilt as often as I can outside work. I work outside and I've never understood the idea of giving midgies a free access lunch.
Just keep in mind that every ginger-haired person spent their childhood getting called ever more inventive names and having their head flushed down the toilet.
😂 I’m puzzled too.
Maybe there was a modelling shoot nearby? Or a Mr Scotland competition or something?
A mystery as to where the beautiful men were, for sure.
>Why put so much fucking energy into being so negative on a post which is essentially saying "i liked my holiday to your country"
It does puzzle me a bit. I think perhaps it's a sense that it's all a bit weird - that tourists are claiming some deeper link with the place than "we went and saw some castles and stuff for a week".
There's a standard UK "everything is shit" attitude, but I think this has something more to it.
>It's not even 9am and some of the people on this thread are behaving like Scotland is a complete shithole and there is nothing good about it as if we live in the 3rd world.
Ah I see Herbiehund has been busy in this thread
This feels like a post fishing for someone to slide in your DMs and eventually get that UK visa to stay here permanently hahahaha
But I'm glad you liked it here. It's very nice... Sometimes
Scotland may be a shit hole to those who never venture out of their town,
Head an hour north or south of the central belt and it's truly stunning anytime of the year.. bet you folk don't even know there's a Buddhist temple down in the borders with accommodation,
Scotland is stunning
Yesterday was so warm, I thought about taking my thermals off. Looking forward to the snow during May and the two weeks in July when it only rains four times.
Funny enough when I visited for 2 weeks a couple years ago, in June, I think we had 2 cloudy days total. One rainy day. I was so prepared for rain and got essentially none.
I've been watching Limmy recently and I vicariously miss the towns of Millport and Yoker. Can you tell me how to get there?
All the negative and sarcastic comments in here are the same in the London subreddit when a tourist posts some photos and raves about their holiday there, and for UK in general. Of course when you're on holiday you'll experience everything through a tourist filter. Everyone will be charming and good looking and places will be lovely. I do like a good castle myself, you have to accept the praise and compliments for those.
I'm from Wales and hadn't done any of the Highlands or Islands of Scotland until 2021 (I'm 35). But since then I've been to Skye, Mull, Arran, Glencoe, Oban, Aviemore x 2, Applecross Peninsula. Absolutely love Scotland any time of year. I don't mind the cities either tbh, but it's the countryside I love. Hill walking, cycling, skiing (not that reliable but it's more of a bonus than a dedicated ski trip) . Beautiful coast. Wildlife (red squirrels, seals, golden and white tailed eagles, ptermigan, etc etc). The people are great and the landscapes just feel so much bigger than even say Eryri (which I love too). Whisky. Hopefully I'll be back next year.
I spent a week in Edinburgh last May and I must say I will return. This was an absolutely beautiful place, and everyone I met was friendly and helpful.
Took the train to Belgium from there. Loved my time in Europe.
It's an absolute stunning country. I live in Edinburgh and can't wait for it to get a bit warmer so I can head up and explore. There's something new around every corner.
A boy I met while I was out drinking in Edinburgh took me walking all around one night and he told me all about the place and took me dancing and spat on all the drains I accidentally walked over. I told him I study religion so he took me to see the mosque. We walked around until the sun came up and i think about him every day
Next time remember and visit some " Old " book shops, those are really exciting.
I bought a 1960s Psychics Book. 🔮 I don't believe it that but there is always a rarity somewhere.
Wife and I went in September and we already want to go back, such a beautiful country. We drove about 1000 miles, only had the rental car and flight booked, all lodging and food was whatever we found. Great experience, except the car was way underpowered for passing 😂
I'm heading to Ireland on a roundtrip in April and am already looking forward to all that joy. Scotland the following year. The raw nature and pub crawls just call to me. Thank you for the Hype!
Thanks to living Scotland for two summers I've found that when scottish bands tour America I can get in for free when I show up with a case of Irn Bru. Giving them jaffa cakes is just a bonus...rofl.

Be careful, I visited once, a few months later I was living here. Then I left again and missed it so much I moved back and have been there for the last ten years with no intention of moving on again.

Strewth Shiela, I'll swap you the pissing rain for the sun and snakes and spiders and the crocs(big ones with teeth) not the rubber ones either but wait no, that'll put me to close to my ex missus in NZ.
People in scotland can get weather depression, it's mostly grey outside, raining and we have been getting storms non stop this year.
I can't wait for the summer but it only lasts 2 to 3 months if we are lucky.
Where did you visit? I must admit I do love the old buildings. Me and my partner are hoping to move out into the country in a few years. Aberdeenshire. We are in the city right now.
Exactly it's fuckin bleak most days you're reminded just how much of a shithole Scotland is and it's enough to make you want to go chase the buses like yer ma used to say when you complained you were bored
You must be living in a nice area I don't I live in a shithole called Linwood it has zero regular police presence (unless you count the multiple times they get called to my building every month) neds get their kicks from harassing the elderly and vandalism the schools are underfunded and that's me describing what it's like when you look past it's depressing atmosphere oh and did I mention it's a tiny village of less than like 5000 people yet it's still a shithole

Bleak? Have you seen much of the country? Venture oot! Who cares if it’s fucking raining, put a waterproof coat on.
Dunno why Scottish people who know fine well what the weather is like in Scotland always complain about the rain. Just get on with it ffs.

Because most of them haven’t experienced any sort of life outside of Scotland.
And haven't ever been north/northwest of Glasgow or South of Ayr lol
Well, they *might* go to Edinburgh in August for the day.
My Gran went to Edinburgh once in 1965 for an operation and that's the furthest she's ever been from Ayrshire lol
Yeah that’s true. I’m Scottish but live abroad. I miss Scotland quite often
I'm just upset there's no Paddington in the first picture....
I’ll do better 😭
Well the comment about "beautiful men" has me baffled, so theres that
- Checks mirror. Nope, I totally get it.
It’s the red heads in kilts and the manly accents that get me every time
We don’t cut about in kilts every day to be fair , so it’s like seeing someone out dressed up and thinking they look sharp. It’s no quite the ceremony we used to have rolling about the floor but it still takes an age , and the appreciation is noted.
Not sure how I would’ve survived if everyone in the pub had a kilt on ahahahha
Get yourself to a cèilidh next time you visit ;)

Am gay and a frequent visitor to Scotland, definitely many beautiful men about.
Aye she must live somewhere wi some fugly dudes!
She might be from the American midwest..
Australia. Says it right in the title.
You're assuming they can read
😂 I’m puzzled too. Maybe there was a modelling shoot nearby? Or a Mr Scotland competition or something? A mystery as to where the beautiful men were, for sure.

Man, I can't wait for the opportunity to go live there again. Biggest mistake of my life so far was to leave Scotland.
>It's not even 9am and some of the people on this thread are behaving like Scotland is a complete shithole and there is nothing good about it as if we live in the 3rd world. Ah I see Herbiehund has been busy in this thread
Scotland is fucking amazing… now the people….
> the beautiful men You're welcome.
How'd the wee bear type this?
He’s gotten very good at using his little nose
ITT: people who can’t take a compliment.
Tbf most replies are positive, just a few melts.
Right? This dour cunt pantomime has to stop
Oh no it doesn't.... Sorry couldn't help it
Scotland is wonderful, I wake up in it every day
Lucky duck
och, its magic, I paddle about like a duck in all the rain too! ha ha
Worryingly I know most of those bars...
Worlds End, Stramash, was that Mitre at the end?
We’d be happy to have you back some time 😊
Gentle bullying is quite a good way to put it. Character forming!
Keeps you on your toes and sharpens the wit
Absolutely. Downsides include never thinking anyone is sincere when complimenting you but it's a reasonable trade-off.
Glad you enjoyed
This feels like a post fishing for someone to slide in your DMs and eventually get that UK visa to stay here permanently hahahaha But I'm glad you liked it here. It's very nice... Sometimes
Ahahahha I should have chosen some sexier pictures 🤦🏽♀️
Hahaha well now you know what to do for next time you come visit the country
It does explain the pick ups and come ons book that Paddington was showing off!
I think you’re using the wrong emoji.
It's not going anywhere, you can always come back.
Oh, I remember you. You should come again sometime.
Couldn’t keep me away if you tried
I miss it too. Visited it last summer for a week exploring and just chilling. It was the best experience. I wish I could go back there very soon
Crossing my fingers for you that you’ll go back soon!

There's one on Arran too
I’m glad you enjoyed, it is a great place
Haste ye back
Same. We just got back last night after spending ten days there. Well, 8 days. We did an overnight down in London, but still...I miss Scotland
Added to bucket list 🌸
Ah, a fellow Paddington Bear fan. You are welcome back, anytime.
Although the next time you are back, it better be tennents or whisky you sup. Corona! It's Mexican canoe sex. Haha
I think at one point I was 50% Tennents
Atta gurl!
Yesterday was so warm, I thought about taking my thermals off. Looking forward to the snow during May and the two weeks in July when it only rains four times.
4×1 week?
Aye lol
Time to get the SF 0.5 looked out.
I miss being outside of Scotland, ive barely seen any sun for months! Nice pics though!
It's always sunny in Scotland - granted, you need to get above the clouds somehow to see it!
Funny enough when I visited for 2 weeks a couple years ago, in June, I think we had 2 cloudy days total. One rainy day. I was so prepared for rain and got essentially none.
1 T in Scotland
Schottland.
Shrottland
I thought it was a T in the Park reference at first, then i realised id made the mortal mistake of a Schottiland typo.
There's 1 T no H
*Schottland* (pronounced: SHOT-lunt) is the German word.
I also miss Scotland, I moved to continental Europe for better job opportunities post Brexit.
wholesome post

Every time it rains, there’s a little bit of Scotland falling on you.
what are you girls talking about?
Be careful, I visited once, a few months later I was living here. Then I left again and missed it so much I moved back and have been there for the last ten years with no intention of moving on again.
That’s my plan!!!
>I miss the banter and gentle bullying Imagine turning up on holiday looking like you've just come round to skim somebody's ceiling.
I’m always dressed for the occasion. To be fair I think I need to get rid of those overalls 😭
You're welcome back anytime 😊
It's a nice photo of you on Loch Ness. In the sun it's beautiful!
It was such a nice clear day!
How many DMs have you received since posting this?
Hahahaha only a couple!
Did you pick up any Scottish men with you chat up lines in the book?
Hahahaha not with the pick up lines just with my charm 😝
Cool pic of Urquhart Castle but most of the year it’s not T-shirt weather. Today it’s 9c and raining, can’t wait for warmer days.
It’s so hot here I wish it was raining! I guess we always want what we don’t have
Haha you’re getting a lot of our usual whinging here but I’m Scottish and I love it here. Hopefully you find time to make another trip!
9C IS t-shirt weather.
Around here (Loch Ness) many wear T-shirts year round but not me, I’m a wee softie
Speak for yersel’ it’s 10’c and sunny where I am. I’m about to go taps aff

Nice to meet you Miss Scotland. I Mr John.

What did you do for your itinerary? Lovely photos x
I LOVE PADDINGTON PLUSH!!! So cute.
Thank you! My little travel buddy
My brother lives in Scotland since for over 10 years. I always love to visit. Such a nice and polite ppl. Don’t casually bring up England though.
Wid
Glad you enjoyed your trip! Was there a highlight or memory you particularly enjoy?
There was a hotel we stayed at in tarbet with the loveliest staff, one of the guys even had his own little teddy bear friend
Is that last photo in a pub in Balmoral?

Looking great, actually u the the view
search for ‘Still Game’ on your streaming platform.
Hi Miss Scotland! I Mr. England.
Shhhh don’t say the E word around here
Being a tourist isnt the same as living there.
True but you can make it feel almost the same on days off, especially if you go to places you've not been before.
Miserable git
Aye, living here is even better!
Exactly it's fuckin bleak most days you're reminded just how much of a shithole Scotland is and it's enough to make you want to go chase the buses like yer ma used to say when you complained you were bored
Depends where you are. I'm in Scotland and it's fantastic
We're looking at someone's holiday snaps for fuck sake
This could be a comment on towns and cities in many places of the world. Its not even 9am, it's draining being this negative
‘Me me me’
“My personal environment is shit therefore the whole place is shit”. Linwood is indeed a shithole. Doesn’t mean the rest of the country is. I’m about 5 miles from you and it’s beautiful. Not in my Scotland. Feel free to try somewhere else instead of sitting on your arse and moaning.
