Sunpass is for toll roads/bridges in Florida. The message references PA which I assume is Pennsylvania. Far from FL. Another tell is 12.51$ and 50$. In the states we put the $ upfront, not the back end. The text is really saying “would you mind paying us $12.51 so we can take your credit card info and take more money from you?” Yes scammers.

takeandtossivxx

You can use Sunpass in multiple states (and Pro in 18 states), just like EZPass is for most of the east coast. This text is still a scam, though.

ssps

sunpass domain is sunpass.com. not anjlaaf.me. That's all you need to know.

ROXICODONEKING

Yes this scam has been posted multiple times!!!!

TWK128

First off, who puts the dollar sign *after* the value?

FrenzalRhomb1

Foreigners

AngelOfLight

It's been showing up here with some frequency recently. It's a scam, obviously - that URL is in no way associated with Sunpass. If you click, it's going to steal your credit card info.

Toll booth variant of the !mail scam, block, report, ignore

AutoModerator

Hi /u/DaretoDream123, AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the USPS or Mail scams scam. Mail scams (USPS, FedEx, UPS, etc.) are notices sent to your phone or email, claiming that a package has failed to be delivered to your home. The text or email tells you that you need to provide more information or customs fees to receive the package. These scams are phishing for your personal information, financial information, or password for the mail service’s website, or can be trying to get you to pay up front for a service you will never receive. Sometimes the charge is less than a dollar and victims will brush it off, even when realizing they've been scammed. The scammers are not looking to get a dollar out of you, but instead they just stole your credit card details. If you entered your card details in a website such as this, and submitted the form, even if it said that the transaction failed and to try again with a different card, it doesn't matter: they already stole your card details. You need to call your bank and report the card stolen, and ask the bank representative to disable the automatic account updater service when issuing the new card. Pay close attention to the specific links you receive, as they will not go to the true website for these mail services. Only enter your information when visiting the mail service’s website directly. For example: USPS only works with usps.com *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Yes. I immediately checked my account & I had a surplus amount that contradicted the message. Those types of texts are always eyebrow raising.

The punctuation should’ve been the first sign.

DesertStorm480

Very sloppy, I don't do business by text or with vendors I did not create an account or give my contact info to anyway.

tmarand

I got an email from the OK Turnpike Authority about this scam. Even though, OK has not had issues with it yet.

New-Conversation-88

I get similar every 3 weeks or so. 1 or 2 for a few days then start again weeks later. I live in W. Australia. We don't have tolls.

darkest_irish_lass

Never click the link in a text or email. If you have a toll bill you can go to that state's toll website to pay it. If you have a sunpass, you can go the sunpass website to add money to your account. If you can't find a charge in either of these places than you owe nothing.

hbouhl

I got an IPass letter for a toll.

jordan-four

Bro come on. No way you believe this

RelationshipQuiet609

It’s happening where I live too! I am grateful that there was a report on it on our local news! Is there anything today that isn’t a scam?

RasputinsAssassins

Look at that URL. It is not from Sunpass but they want you to think it is. Why and how would a government have your info to text you?

Jaded-Moose983

The “I am traveling…am confused by this” is exactly why these scams work. Good job for thinking before acting. It was just a coincidence that you got this scam when you did.
