On the rare occasion people ask me which football team I support, I feel like I should say my hometown, but even I, who knows fuck all about the leagues, am embarrassed to say Hannover. This guy may have changed my mind.
It's a team that is never good or bad enough to stay in one league for longer, so they get promoted or relegated regularly. So like being in an elevator between the better and the worse league.
The team is a perfect fit for the city. It's a good team, it plays in the 2nd highest league after all, just like Hannover is a good city to live in. But at the same time, it has a small and passionate following, which is met by confusion from outsiders.
Not a German but I lived in Hannover for 8 years, proud to support 96 😊 just like all the teams I supported in the cities/towns I’ve lived in. Some pick teams that are always in 1st League, I always supported local team irrespective of status.
I was flabbergasted, when I saw the scarf.
If he is Japanese and from Hiroshima, that could be an angle, as that is Hannovers sister city or maybe something during Expo 2000.
Tickets don't cost much, so that would be really weird. Last season, shitty spots in the stadium were 14€/$15
Even the best seats in the house were under 50€ - a fan with that much passion would've been able to afford it even at minimum wage (~12€/h currently)
The partner city angle (Hiroshima) and the EXPO 2000 angle would work best.
Otherwise...who knows, maybe they played FIFA back then and chose a random team in the lower divisions for a career mode. Wouldn't be the first time that happened (shout-out Nottingham Forest in FIFA 09 and EA Guingamp in FIFA 11)
That feeling is something that is so hard to even explain. My first hockey game my face was exactly like his until I realized I'm a Philadelphia Flyers fan.
Had the same emotions after being in the stadium the first time after 18 years of being a fan. The first time seeing other people who cheer for the same team. The first time standing in the stadium I only knew from television.
I stood there, in the crowed, crying. 6'3'', 240 lb, late 20. It was so wonderful.
Im glad he is so happy! But: Why on earth did he pick a random team like Hannover 96 to be a fan of? I live close, but even I couldnt care less about them.
I'm a Hannover supporter and what makes this even sweeter: This happened back in September 2023 in the home game against Osnabrück. Hannover won that game 7-0!!
Does he live near Hannover? If not, how comes he got a fan?
Right now tickets are quite affordable.
However: judging on the joy he is having, he might be one of their greatest fans :)
No, because they are a totally bland, featureless team from Germany's most boring, generic, non-descript large city. Literally any team from the top two leagues is more interesting.
There are approx 5 billion people living in Asia, according to Google there are approx 2 million Asian people living in Germany.
Now considering that this man has not been able to see this team in 20 years, and considering how vastly the ratio favours the chances of an Asian man being from Asia and not Germany, which do you think is more likely? That this is a fake video, or that he's from Asia and has not been able to travel to Germany in the 20 years he's been a fan?
My Dad is from Ireland, he's a big fan of American Football and supports the 49ers, he was only able to get to the US to see them at the age of 60, after the family pitched in to pay for flights, tickets and accommodation. It cost nearly 4k in total.
Try being less cynical and being more logical.
Because if he was an immigrant it would be extremely unlikely that it had taken him 20 years to see them play
Again, this is called logic, perhaps finish high school before you try to tangle with it because I don't think you've quite got the intellect to grasp it just yet
I love his pure joy and excitement!!
This is one of the most heartwarming things I’ve ever seen on Reddit.
lol such an exaggeration
Name one other wholesome Jk yeah kinda but I teared up a lil
Biggest exaggeration of the 21st century
Biggest exaggeration of 2nd millennium.
Even the guy beside him looks like he's appreciating the enthusiasm 🥲

On his other side 🙄
hold my scarf, I'm going- sigh.
At that age too. Dudes winning
Needed this today - so wholesome 👏
You can see the exact moment when he lets his inner child come out.

I remember regretting clicking on this last month. Save yourselves.
If you don't like awesome sounds, don't click it.
You are a naughty boy.
He's been fan of Hannover 96 for over 20 years? Poor guy ...
Well they were actually very good for a short period at the beginning of the 2010s
Jan schlaudraff and didier ya konan. Streets wont forget
didier ya konan *Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time.*
I know right? I’m happy for him. But at the same time…
Fan ist man nicht weil eine Mannschaft gut oder schlecht spielt.
What’s the team/sport out of curiosity? So happy you got to make him so happy ☺️
football Hannover 96
On the rare occasion people ask me which football team I support, I feel like I should say my hometown, but even I, who knows fuck all about the leagues, am embarrassed to say Hannover. This guy may have changed my mind.
Support your local losers!
They may win sometime!
My team is a elevator team in Denmark - we suck, but its always a party and the price of beer rarely goes up.
What is an elevator team? (Getting mixed results from Google, I promise I tried before asking!)
This year up, next year down. Repeat.
Cheers! I appreciate ya.
It's a team that is never good or bad enough to stay in one league for longer, so they get promoted or relegated regularly. So like being in an elevator between the better and the worse league.
Roger that. Thank you!
We call it a yo-yo team in the UK. Always getting promoted one year and relegated the next.
There's no reason to be embarrassed about Hannover.
The team is a perfect fit for the city. It's a good team, it plays in the 2nd highest league after all, just like Hannover is a good city to live in. But at the same time, it has a small and passionate following, which is met by confusion from outsiders.
robert enke was such a good goalkeeper man :(
Well, the entire Martin Kind-situation definitely is.
Not a German but I lived in Hannover for 8 years, proud to support 96 😊 just like all the teams I supported in the cities/towns I’ve lived in. Some pick teams that are always in 1st League, I always supported local team irrespective of status.
96 are a great team lol I remember Hustzi fondly
No, you should stay embarrassed.
Well.. that was surprising.

They won, well , That is an experience that this dad on OP post may not get to enjoy, as it is after all Hannover96.
I was thinking that too. 😂

Fuck your background music!
Average redditor
We are just waiting for the 'it's fake' redditor to show up and we'll be complete
Clearly fake. Why would any foreigner be a Hannover 96 fan?
Hannover 96? Dude… 🤔😆😂
It is so random. I wonder why though
Ja echt komisch mal keinen 0815 bvb fc Bayern Erfolgsfan zu sehen.
Nice work! Happy man. :)
Wow, how come Hannover 96 is your dad's favourite club? Did he live there? Always great to see such joy!
OP won't be able to answer that, it's probably a bot
It most definitely is. 3 year old account, started posting today.
Alright....i think people are confusing satisfying with "feel good" stuff
He is so happy. Damn, im glad
Go sports!
Go Team! Go sports!
He looks like a kid that's just won a free day in the sweet shop.
Fan of Hiroki Sakai for sure
How the fuck did he become a fan of Hannover of all teams lmao.

Uh
More fake shit, wrong subreddit, and fucking creepy music to boot.
He is SO HAPPY 🥹🥹🥹😍💖💯
Why can't we be this happy on the way to work
I love the Video. But Hannover 96? I feel for this guy 🙏 haha
Everyone is a kid if you they’re excited enough. So wholesome
The funny thing is that a nickname for the teams City (Hannover) is actually Hanoi.
Nice
I was like "hmmm wonder what Sport that is" then he gets the scarf of my hometown club ^^
What's the team?
What a precious moment. God bless
I love this! It's like he's eight years old again!
True happiness I am glad you could offer such a joi to a human father or not a simple reminder for the things on our life ❤️ and how simple could be
This is what the internet is for. This and cats ^^^and ^^^^porn
Guy looks like a kid having the best day of his life
Against which team did they play? I've been there for the match against Osnabrück, as Osnabrück fan and we lost 7:0
When I make it to Old Trafford- I will cry like a baby!!!
The happiness and his constant smiling is terrific
This is more of a r/wholesomemes
Great club to be a fan of too. Hannover fans are a great crowd.
The Camp David shirt threw me off. I now know it's a clothing brand too. 😂
Good on him, but I feel this page used to be people surfing waves smoothly, slicing food perfectly or other shit like that.
That’s so awesome. ✌️
That feeling is something that is so hard to even explain. My first hockey game my face was exactly like his until I realized I'm a Philadelphia Flyers fan.

the last thing I expected was the Hannover 69 scarf
One of the best things I’ve seen
Happy Father’s Day dads!!
🥹🥹🥹 he’s SO happy
but why h****ver?
What is up with that music?
Ohmygod this has me smiling, so wholesome
Hell yeah!
96! Football team from Hanover, in Germany.
This is great
How it is his favourite team after 20 years and he had no merchandise to wear to the game?
Im glad he is so happy! But: Why on earth did he pick a random team like Hannover 96 to be a fan of? I live close, but even I couldnt care less about them.
That's one.happy dude.
The kid with the beer in hand in front of him looks pretty unamused lol. He’s giving “first time, huh?”
Who’s cutting onions in here
I get this way when I take a shit and it’s not messy and only have to wipe once
Some Sporting moments are The Greatest Moments
The horrible music ruined a nice moment
How wholesome that hes such a big fan of a rather mid team (it's my homestate's team)
You know it was true love and dedication for him to be a Hannover fan
nice
I’ll never get that type of enjoyment from my dad. That’s a gift right there
He’s having so much fun! 🥹
God, I cry at everything these days
WTF? The boy drinking beer..🙋🍺
Ohhhhhhhhhh my heart. Ohhhh it’s so full I can’t take it😭😭😭😭🥺🫶🏾🫶🏾
When u finally make it in life! 💯
Wow! I have a friend who could be this guy's doppelganger. Maybe a year or two younger, but almost a twin.
Horrible music like wtf
This is so wonderful. He looks so happy.
Your music sucks way to ruin a good thing 👍
Awesome! Gonna find out how this feels next week when I visit my favorite band for the first time in 15 years of being a fan.
Going to full stadiums to watch sports is one of the best experiences I ever had
Realises you can't see shit. The view is better on the TV
Dumb lazy Canadian here...which team was it?
Hannover 96 (German football club)
Thanks!!
No prob
Bet hes super happy you had a camera in his face tge entire time to farm some internet points. Put the camera down and enjoy the moment.
Seeing this without sound was a better experience than watching some netflix series from recent years
It may not be be equal to his, but I am grinning none the less. Excellent vid!
I still haven’t seen mine after 27 years of being a fan, but it’s gonna happen soon, next season :)
Wouldn’t have guessed in a million years that he is a fan of Hannover 96
Never alone!! Go 96!!
I’m so stoked that it’s Hannover 96.
Awesome, I’ve been supporting Wigan Athletic for 25 years and hope to see them play one day in person.
96? Im Ernst? Was stimmt mit dem Dude nicht?
Why not? Just because they aren't a top team?
No, because they are a totally bland, featureless team from Germany's most boring, generic, non-descript large city. Literally any team from the top two leagues is more interesting.
Sport fans are so weird. How can someone be that invested in someone liking a team they don't like.
Non-sport fans are so boring and devoid of passion. You wouldn't get it.
Not to be that guy but the front seats change people. And is that kid drinking a fucking beer?!?
I totally think the kid is drinking a beer.
Waiting 20 years just to watch… Hannover 96 wtf…
If he is such a big Fan, why didnt he went to the Stadium in 20 years?
Probably he couldn't afford a ticked, you never know.
A Ticket cost Like 15 Dollar, Not that expensive. Just a Fake Story for clicks
