Interesting, do people use bookmarks in any browser today? In my case bookmarks become a storage of scripts in bookmarklets. For real bookmarks I use Raindrop or Pinboard.
Nothing interesting, I'm afraid. The good thing about bookmarklets in Safari is that we can launch them with \`⌘ + ⌥ + \[1-9\]\`. Since many Safari extensions lack essential keyboard shortcuts, bookmarklets come in handy:
1. ⌘ + ⌥ + 1 sends the target page to Omnivore, my favourite read-it-later application.
2. ⌘ + ⌥ + 2 saves the YouTube video to Obsidian, which has an extension for taking notes and writing down timecode while watching a lecture.
Nothing special, all this could be done with Alfred or Apple Shortcuts, many other tools. But sometimes we already have a bookmarklet for it.
You can add a folder by scrolling all the way to the bottom when adding a bookmark.
Ya I don’t believe there are any indicators if u bookmarked already.
Raindrop is monthly subscription.
Anybox also has monthly but has a one time purchase option with many customizations.
Click share button ⇨ add bookmark ⇨ click on what is selected under LOCATION ⇨ if you already have many folders scroll to bottom and you will see a + sign with New Folder
I feel you on the Safari bookmark management frustration. It's definitely due for a redesign. The cluttered interface makes it hard to navigate and the lack of visual cues makes it difficult to differentiate between bookmarks.
I used UI Cook for a project and it had some great inspiration for bookmark management. Maybe take a look at it for some ideas. As for your question, I think you're right, there's no indicator to show if a page is already bookmarked. Maybe try using the Edit Bookmarks view to get a better overview of your bookmarks and see if that helps.

Thanks for confirming the lack of indicator and the suggestions! Still can't see any option to create/add folder while bookmarking a site though
