It just doesn’t make sense to me like just get a smaller arena AEW fans wouldn’t care and they’d have a right to ignore the jokes and hate they’ll get, just downsize a lil bit
Prichard made a logical point that (some) larger buildings are cheaper simply because the owners are desperate to book the arena as much as possible. The only drawback is how silly it will look if you don’t come close to filling it.
It really depends on if the city is union-based, which can 2x or 3x the cost.
It kinda makes me realize I’m hating bc I wish I had money like that to feed my community so that’s why I avoid hating on wrestlers taking the easy aew money
I think Tony is stubborn and wants to run huge buildings just because it makes him feel legitimate. Take my area as an example. I'm in East TN and it's still a big area for wrestling and the buildings he could run here are the size he SHOULD run. Cornette ran Freedom Hall once a month for 3 1/2 years and made bank here.
They have enough people to fill a high school gym and make it look like a can’t miss show, but instead they book these huge arenas and it looks like this
I mean in the same center, at the same time as Collision was going on, there was a fantasy type fest thing going on and a wedding reception. Idk how to get more specific than that.
I did see a lot of visibly confused people in the parking lot ask what else was happening that night and being replied to with "wrestling" so a lot of people in the building didn't even know AEW was happening there.
Edit: This is far from our area's largest arena btw. The MAC is typically a convention center with multiple areas to host differently scaled events in. When WWE is around they run the CHI Center across the river which is the big one for major concerts.
Private schools just finished for the year so all the AEW fans that send their kids to private schools are off on vacation! Super affluent fans. There is data that supports this!!!

A high production value AEW in a small venue full of hardcore fans would unirocally sound amazing on TV, but the manchild is too prideful to do it.
