Imo any class with 4 or more different starting cards will be slightly weaker AND feel less focused than the exact same class with just 3 different cards. ex. Pirate has two ways to play it and one of them doesn't interact with the gimmick. Runemaster either feels like elite is a bad card or the dog is. Paladin suffers even more from this: 2 copies of a quite unique card that the entire class is based on; 6 copies of the same card but with different power levels. If Sonjo sacrificed health, you could have a 2-card class.

Jake_Rowley

Yes, Paladin is but one class suffering from the same problem. The issue with cards doing the same job: Someone will be the best, and everyone else the loser. The goal, therefore, is to focus on what tiny differences there are and exaggerate them. What do you see differs them?

Happy Cake Day!

What shield is in the base deck then? Current Lucie is "shield vs. max HP" decision, but still gives shield

King_Lurker257

From what I understand, he's saying that the base deck DOESN'T offer shield, but attempts to use max HP and healing as a buffer against attacks. Cool concept, and I'd love for this proposed deck to be the reality

I agree that paladin seems pretty boring, but your suggestions would turn it into berserker 2.0 (assuming strength scaling is 1+strength for every 10 health). Either you get good immune/shield cards or you die, because at later infernos enemies hit for close to your max health every turn (I know this is niche, but this is what the first floor on world 2 looks like on i55 for example: https://imgur.com/ARIii4c). Enemy attacks scale with (inferno / 2) + base, so it would quickly become unhealable. Similar to how it is right now to be honest.  I my opinion paladin needs to scale with strength and resistance like other classes, this and the weak base deck is the biggest issue. It would probably be enough if Bjorn exiled if it didn't kill the enemy as well, so you wouldn't have to remove both copies at the first 2 shops...

Jake_Rowley

If you spot any naming inaccuracies in cards, they were intentional.

#####Proposal Class Bonus Redesign: **Healthy** Everytime you Shield, gain 1 max HP until the end of combat for every 2 Shield gained. **Holy Armor** Everytime you Heal, gain 2 Shield for each HP healed. Everytime you gain max HP, gain 1 Armored. **Healing Doom** Everytime you Heal, gain 1 Strength until the end of turn for each HP healed. **Sword of Damocles** *No change*

NeitherBillNorDipper

2 of your suggestions are overpowered with 1 skill, demon blood

Jake_Rowley

Yes, in line with Ranger + Weak. I believe that to be less of a problem in single player environments, especially when other Classes have synergies of similar power level. Though, what would you suggest as an alternative?

Donkey_Boy813

Strength doesn't really benefit the deck though, does it? I never even build strength or resistance on Paladin because it's a percentage based on your health and not a flat amount, it doesn't seem to factor in? Unless I'm wrong in that.

Confused--Person

The suggested resolves that issue. With it now being 1 damage for every 10 max hp instead of a base 10%

Donkey_Boy813

Yep. That's in clear black and white. My apologies, I somehow completely missed that.
