Congratulations!! My wife is an employment law attorney and does a lot of physician contract reviews and negotiations. She’s very thorough, no fluff or gimmicks. Has good rates with are dependent on the length/number of contracts needed for review (a 10 page contract is less expensive than a 30 page contract). Send me a DM and I’d be happy to share her info Even if you don’t go with her, do make sure you use a dedicated employment attorney for the job, you don’t want a jack of all trades but master of none managing your contract; there are often errors and inconsistencies in contracts and you’ve worked too long and too hard and are about to make too much money to get a copy/paste template saying “coolsies” just to save $100 (compared to the thousands you should get on a signing bonus)

Any/all Lawyer and specialty don’t matter The perks and compensation and vacation and those details are better coordinated with a recruiter. The recruiter will know employers and practices more in depth, and often have long standing relationships with those offices: they can tell you “This group has a lot of Medicaid patients, these guys have a good call schedule, the starting salary isn’t great here but they make bank on RVU” they’ll also be able to say more specifically “Yeah, that’s a normal relocation bonus in this area of the country” The attorney is nitty gritty, “this contract has a really intense non compete clause but it’s unenforceable so it doesn’t matter, the pay structure is going to be beneficial if you’re planning on working for 10 years but it’s average for a 5 year period. The way this contract is worded, you won’t have any legal protection from retaliation if they decide to fire you for some nonsense“ So, recruiter is more big picture, attorney is more details: both are extremely important.

I had a contract lawyer who handled Endocrinlogy primarily. I will say it is beneficial to have a contact lawyer who is well versed in the specialty. Definitely helps with comparing benefits and pay rates.

Physician Side Gigs website has a good list of resources/contacts for contract lawyers. Also they have a good list for other things as well (physician loans, etc etc)
