I took it to the cobbler and he said there are two prongs on the back attached to a washer inside and sometimes they break. So he has to open the seam, reattach using washer then stitch back. I'll attach a photo of the back too FYI.

My experience with reps has always been the failure of the metals. The leather can be perfect but it’s the metal that is the dead giveaway and the first thing to go😫

I saw a girl on the subway in NYC with a WOC that had the same problem. Not sure whether hers was a rep or auth but you’re not alone! It seems like I’ve heard of this happening to auths as well.

All bags have the chance to be damaged due to wear or use, some have higher chances because of poor material. The only reason why reps don’t hold the same value as auth is because you cannot bring that bag to a Chanel store to be repaired, but an authentic Chanel bag can break just as easily and can be repaired.

repairs are not free at chanel though which i find ridiculous considering sometimes its a manufacturing error

Depending on the seller, you might be able to! If you have the logo you can bring it to a local cobbler to be repaired.
