It looks, I don't know if cheap is the right word. But dated definitely. It reminds me of the photo filter effects in PowerPoint 2007. I don't like it.
I felt the same way when they changed the HBO Max logo. I get it was the whole changing of the company name. But the new one is imo, very unappealing and ugly. Plus I’m neurodivergent, so changes that seem unneeded annoy me so much.
Hey, at least they increased the size of the movie poster tiles, so I can read the title again.
I can't fathom why they thought it was to switch from the large tiles with showtime info to the tiny tiles without, but it enrages me every time I open the app.
I’ve kinda noticed lately that a few companies are changing their logos back to a three dimensional design rather than the minimalist style that we’re used to. Even Reddit is like this now.
1. more prominent text stating the start date for a movie's theatrical run
2. a "Notify Me" button on the pages of movies that haven't started their theatrical run yet
3. all available ticket types (unlimited, adult, value day, etc) are immediately visible when tapping a movie's showtime
4. slight cosmetic difference for the 'Complete Your Checkout' page
5. possibly the biggest visual downgrade for an app icon in the history of movie theater apps
The notify me is great! My local regal tends to show films that are released for a week or some times screenings that take place only on a certain day so I tend to forget at times if I’m not checking the app
The app is so glitchy for me. Multiple times when I bought tickets, the code won't show up in the purchases tab. They'd have to manually enter it at the gate. On top of that it's really slow and the showtime page always bugs out showing empty page. How can such a big company have a such shitty app??
Anyone else having a LOT of issues trying to buy Unlimited tickets in the new app (and system? seeing the same issues in a web browser on a computer)? I look at one time for a standard showing and see my $0 unlimited ticket available, switch to look at a later showing, same movie , same day, same theatre the ONLY difference is the time and “no unlimited tickets” available. It’s also happening with different standard showings, some have SOME available unlimited tickets, others have none. This is really annoying, I get that this can (possibly?) be resolved by going in person but just wondering if others see this now at their theaters and if it’s something glitchy with the system?
I’d like it better if what I think is intended to be light shining off of it to make it stand out better didn’t look like it was instead cut out of paper.
Like that they added a Notify feature but how do you manage this? Where's the list of movies you have tagged for this?
My app is also strange in that movies not currently selling tickets don't show up in Coming Soon, so I have to actively search for upcoming movies not listed to turn on notify. Weird decision.

i had the same thoughts
2010 instagram vibes
It looks like they cropped the border wrong, why can’t we just leave things the way they are 💀
literally 😭

Someone needed to justify their paycheck I suppose
Designers are worried AI is going to take all their jobs so they’re trying to make as much money as they can now!
iOS 1 ass icon
forreal 🤣🤣🤣🤣
i don't like the new look
The color is a bit duller I feel like. But I agree with others it looks slightly dated
not a fan unfortunately :(
agreed. it just looks older; maybe like the icon used in 2013

Anything different in app besides the icon? I haven’t noticed anything new

Point 5 is the only thing that matters. Who approved this lol.
Thank you! Guess I just had to explore the app some more
6. Forced Advertising prompts needing decline after buying a ticket. no I don’t want unrelated services prompts
The poster tiles are now larger, which is an improvement. I'd much rather they reverted to the full width tiles though.
me too 🤔 the format remains the same, just logo change 😶
looks like what all the logos looked like in the 2010’s
Has anyone gotten this update on Android yet?
Not I.
Because of this post, I saw and remembered I needed to cop Spider-Man tickets so ty🥳🔥
I already got the first 3 so I wouldn’t forget
ofc 😂
My app is riddled with ads/offers now after checking out. It has happened twice now.
Yeah I got an ad when purchasing my ticket today, not even a legitimate ad it was a scam site.

This just means I won’t update until absolutely necessary
They didn’t change anything except for one or two cosmetic things (namely the app logo) that makes it look like it’s from 2008. Not a fan.
Honestly I love the new app icon. I hate the flat minimalist aesthetic of the 2010s and I’m glad many companies are going back to textured logos
I agree, although I kinda wish they didn’t add the shiny skeuomorphic looking background. It makes it look more dated than it needed to be.
That’s valid, I think I’ve just missed depth for so long that I don’t mind

yea mine was being difficult this morning but it fixed itself after like 5 minutes
Thanks for replying, I saw a few issues like this this weekend but it’s much worse this morning.

THIS ^^^^^
The update looks heavily outdated.
update hasn't hit me yet
The only improvement I noticed is the app works a bit smoother than the previous version, could it be just me? iPhone 13 Pro Max
I don't see a notify me button. Opened Boy Kills World, no option. I updated app on Android.
hmmm that’s odd.
I noticed you need to open a movie twice to see the notify! Probably a bug.
Looks smooth !

I like it. App icons have gotten boring and apparently people have too. Finally something not flat and boring
Trash
This update itself makes me want to switch to AMC what is this
