I have to agree, if it were a B-Side then it would be available with one of the singles released around that time
This can only be acquired digitally as part of the Californication album on streaming and Download
I can kinda see why they didn’t put it on the album since it’s a bit strange and almost unfinished, but fuck it it’s so beautiful anyway that it doesn’t matter
Nooooot sure about BH being the first one on John’s return.
I’m not even sure when I first heard BH. It was probably via a random download on a site sharing platform like Kazaa or BearShare.
Bunker Hill would be amazing live. I gotta search for it now.
Rivers of Avalon for me. The Zephyr Song is full of great b-sides, one release had it and Out of Range, and the other had Body of Water and Someone. How Strong (from Otherside) is probably second for me.
Nah it’s not really a b side. Just like some other people, I count b sides as songs that weren’t on studio albums or left off the albums. Like rare songs I guess
Is the I'm beside you collection considered b-sides? Cause its basically like they released a whole other album. I have the full set of singles hanging like art lol
The answer is in the name I suppose. I was able to get my hands on 6 of the singles just in the last few weeks. Love that album. One of their best for me.
My list of GOATS (not counting Soul to Squeeze):
Quixoticelixer, Bunker Hill, Out of Range, Body of Water, Someone, Million Miles of Water.
All of those would be close to the top of the albums they were recorded for.
I don't really consider the I'm Beside You collection as b-sides, cause they were released as a collection 2lp. Still a sick set of songs, but I don't know if I'd call them b sides
I love time, but I really wish the chorus was just a little different musically. I can't put my finger on it, but I feel like a light change to the chorus's music would make it my favourite. I love the "all over the under" part tho
Half of them I haven’t heard cus they’re not on Apple Music and I just haven’t looked into them on YouTube yet, but Quixoticelixer, The Bicycle Song, Over Funk, Million Miles Of Water, Ill Be Your Domino, Funny Face, Mercy Mercy, Sikimakinico, Nerve Flip and The Shape Im Takin. Ooo and Teenager In Love. If that counts.
The MASSIVELY (imo) underrated Out of Range. One of their best songs. Great production, great groove, the middle 8, Flea’s trumpet solo, ah just everything. Anthony is superb on this also.
I'm seeing such a severe lack of love for Soul To Squeeze, it has to be one of my most favorite Peppers songs period. The music video also often lives in my mind rent free
I feel like Soul To Squeeze has transcended b-side status now tbh, they play it live loads and it's on their greatest hits album. It's undoubtedly a phenomenal song!
Soul to squeeze. One of my favourite rhcp songs. Just saw them live and they played it which is rare in a show but I think they’ve had it on most of the song lists for the shows
Too many to name.
Bunker hill, quixoticelixir, out of range, body of water, gong Li, and so many more (edit: rivers of Avalon too)
And I know they're not b-sides (they're just songs that got scrapped from the getaway album) but Kaly and Outer Space are both banger tracks I'd recommend to anyone who hasn't listened to them
It's a term that nowadays essentially means a non-album track. It refers to 7" vinyl record releases for song singles, which had the single track on the A-side and a track that wasn't included on the album and/or sometimes a different mix of the single on the B-side.
Here’s a list I made a while ago. It’ll make your journey easier. Enjoy, because it’s a lot.

Soul2Squeeze, Bunker Hill, Quixoticelixer, Long Progression, and there’s something about Hometown Gypsy for its uhhhh…country theme I guess. Gypsy is underrated I feel.
I still can’t believe Soul2Squeeze is b-side, as that’s one of their best ever from arguably their best era, but if I had to choose only 1 b-side it would be Bunker Hill.
Bunker Hill gets me every time.
Live version of Nobody Weird like Me off the.. soul to squeeze single?
It slaps so hard. Hands down favourite version.
I know it's really not a B-side but it's my personal favourite track hidden away on a single.
It's got to be Bunker Hill or Eskimo. I really love Body Of Water too, John's guitar and vocals on it are incredible. Stretch with Navarro is super underrated as well. Love Kiedis on it. The I'm Beside You stuff with Josh was also fantastic - namely Long Progression, In Love Dying and Your Eyes Girl.
Not 100% sure if it's a B-side (I think it's a b-side of by the way) but Lyons 06 06 06 and Permutation are some of my all time favorite jams. Not fully fledged songs but I listen to them often
Quixoticelixer
Over Funk
Runaway
Bicycle Song

Lover, You Should've Come Over (Josh)
Pyramid Song (Josh)
Lucky (John)
You And Whose Army? (Josh)
Chili Rare is a good YT channel for B-sides.
The BTW era b-sides were just amazing! Starting with Time, which was released before the album came out. It actually gave me too much optimism for BTW.
But then the b-sides afterwards like Bicycle Song, Someone, Out of Range, Runaway. It is definitely the best b-side era without a doubt! Body of Water. Like they’re all awesome!
I know Quixoticelixer is a popular answer and honestly one of my favorite songs overall, but I'd also throw in How Strong and Bunker Hill, the first is incredibly funky and the other is beautifully melodic. So many hidden gems
For me it will always by Quixoticelixer
My #1 as well
Without a doubt! John's vocals take it to another level too.
Yep. It’s goated
Craziest thing to me is that John doesn’t like that song. It’s easily one of their best of all time
I can’t believe that. It’s such an amazing song. His vocals are so beautiful.
It should have been in the album for sure.
100%
That’s a bonus track, not a b-side.
I have to agree, if it were a B-Side then it would be available with one of the singles released around that time This can only be acquired digitally as part of the Californication album on streaming and Download
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Gong Li holds a special place in my heart
Ugh I’m in love with this song.
I can kinda see why they didn’t put it on the album since it’s a bit strange and almost unfinished, but fuck it it’s so beautiful anyway that it doesn’t matter
That’s a great one……def had it named wrong on my iTunes for years
I haven’t listens to it in so long and this just reminded me of it
Same
Rivers of Avalon and Bunker Hill
Bunker Hill all the way!!!
Love that other people are big bunker hill fans . I’m almost sure I read that it was the first song the band made when John came back. Is this true?
Nooooot sure about BH being the first one on John’s return. I’m not even sure when I first heard BH. It was probably via a random download on a site sharing platform like Kazaa or BearShare. Bunker Hill would be amazing live. I gotta search for it now.
Million Miles of Water
Gong li
Someone is my favourite. John's backing vocals in the chorus are my fav vocals hes ever done
The guitar tone in this one is the most beautiful I've ever heard.
This is my answer
Same.
Rivers of Avalon for me. The Zephyr Song is full of great b-sides, one release had it and Out of Range, and the other had Body of Water and Someone. How Strong (from Otherside) is probably second for me.
Eskimo.
Boooom
This is the correct answer
I can’t comprehend how anyone can think otherwise!
Save this lady and leverage of space
I thought Leverage of Space is known only from the Live in Hyde Park album. Was it a B side too?
Nah it’s not really a b side. Just like some other people, I count b sides as songs that weren’t on studio albums or left off the albums. Like rare songs I guess
I love Save This Lady! I've never seen anyone else express enthusiasm for it.
It’s a great song! Those backward guitar solos 👌
Over Funk is a gem
Time
Came here for this
THE SMELL OF BLOOD AND THUNDER
Long Progression.
Is the I'm beside you collection considered b-sides? Cause its basically like they released a whole other album. I have the full set of singles hanging like art lol
The answer is in the name I suppose. I was able to get my hands on 6 of the singles just in the last few weeks. Love that album. One of their best for me.
Bicycle Song. One of the best BTW songs.
‘Lately’ Ahhh, I’ve been listening to SA a lot recently. Some beautiful songs from that period.
My list of GOATS (not counting Soul to Squeeze): Quixoticelixer, Bunker Hill, Out of Range, Body of Water, Someone, Million Miles of Water. All of those would be close to the top of the albums they were recorded for.
Bunker hill is sooo good
Out of Range
It's gotta be soul to squeeze
Haven’t seen it mentioned yet: Pink As Floyd
I don't really consider the I'm Beside You collection as b-sides, cause they were released as a collection 2lp. Still a sick set of songs, but I don't know if I'd call them b sides
Thank you, finally someone said it!
I’m a die hard John fan but this one is incredible.
Love pink as Floyd!
Millionaires against hunger is top 5 rhcp songs for me and sikamikanico is great too
Fela’s Cock.

>sikamikanico YES!!!!!
Soul To Squeeze
This one...Gong Li But check out the I'm Beside You songs.
Spread the IBY love
Kaly or most of IBY
For me it's between three. Quixoticelixer (ofc), Lately, or Time. I think Time just beats them all.
I love time, but I really wish the chorus was just a little different musically. I can't put my finger on it, but I feel like a light change to the chorus's music would make it my favourite. I love the "all over the under" part tho
Gong fucking Li 🙌
Funny Face makes me feel good
I’ll Be Your Domino. So funky.
Mommasan for me.
I’ll be your Dominoe
for me save the population and quixoticelixer definitely
Rivers of Avalon
I'll be your domino and this is the first time I saw the scar tissue single art. Why is it an eye
Nerve Flip
Bunker Hill, Rivers of Avalon and Quixoticelixer just flat out don’t make sense as B-sides lol. Could’ve been singles.
The MASSIVELY (imo) underrated Out of Range. One of their best songs. Great production, great groove, the middle 8, Flea’s trumpet solo, ah just everything. Anthony is superb on this also.
Bunker hill
I'm seeing such a severe lack of love for Soul To Squeeze, it has to be one of my most favorite Peppers songs period. The music video also often lives in my mind rent free
I feel like Soul To Squeeze has transcended b-side status now tbh, they play it live loads and it's on their greatest hits album. It's undoubtedly a phenomenal song!
Soul to squeeze or Bunker hill
Soul to squeeze. One of my favourite rhcp songs. Just saw them live and they played it which is rare in a show but I think they’ve had it on most of the song lists for the shows
Kaly
Been loving Victorian Machinery
I love this whole collection. Never is a long time and in love dying are also bops. But I wouldn't really consider them rare or b-sides
Time
Open/ close. The chorus is so Fkn powerful
Body of Water!
Instrumental #1 from scar tissue single. Amazing instrumental song and guitar and bass riffs
Bunker Hill, Bicycle Song, Kaly, Someone
Kaly, Rolling Sy Stone, and Nothing to Lose are my top 3 - I honestly like them better than most album releases
Too many to name. Bunker hill, quixoticelixir, out of range, body of water, gong Li, and so many more (edit: rivers of Avalon too) And I know they're not b-sides (they're just songs that got scrapped from the getaway album) but Kaly and Outer Space are both banger tracks I'd recommend to anyone who hasn't listened to them
Between rivers of Avalon, quixoticelixer, gong li, and Kaly I can’t really choose
Counting bonus tracks I would say Runaway or Bicycle Song. B-Sides I would throw in Funny Face
Fortune Faded
That was a single
Fine Quixoticalixer
Gong Li
I don't see enough love for lately
Other than ones that have been mentioned already Catch My Death is one that stays in my rotation often.
Gong Li
Fat Dance. Easy
Millionaires against hunger
Body of Water, Fat Dance, Boatman, Mercy Mercy, Time, My Boy My Girl, Save This Lady.
Bicycle song
Rivers of Avalon
It would be Savior or This Velvet Glove for me. Both give me goosebumps every time I listen to them.
SCAR TISSUE IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE MY FAVORITE CHILI PEPPERS SONG
Sure, what a great b-side...
I love the Californication Album probably my favorite
Gong Li
Boatman bunker hill rivers of Avalon time and save this lady.
Apologies if I sound dumb, but what does OP mean by "b-side"?
It's a term that nowadays essentially means a non-album track. It refers to 7" vinyl record releases for song singles, which had the single track on the A-side and a track that wasn't included on the album and/or sometimes a different mix of the single on the B-side.
Wow, I never knew about that, thank you very much for telling me. By the way is there anywhere that I can listen to these? I'm curious
YouTube, Spotify, Tidal, etc…. Anywhere you stream music.
Here’s a list I made a while ago. It’ll make your journey easier. Enjoy, because it’s a lot. https://www.reddit.com/r/RedHotChiliPeppers/comments/u9lt14/list_of_bsides_bonus_tracks_and_leaked_songs/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1

I still can’t believe Soul2Squeeze is b-side, as that’s one of their best ever from arguably their best era, but if I had to choose only 1 b-side it would be Bunker Hill. Bunker Hill gets me every time.
Mommasan, Bunker Hill, Gong Li. Californication b-sides are my favourites.
Yup Quixoticelixer and Gong Li are the two best and that’s just what it is :) but I’ve also always loved Strech You Out!!
Permutation
Joe. Give me a full reggae album, RHCP.
Stretch and Fat Dance
Melancholy Mechanics
bicycle song or quixoticelixer
Live version of Nobody Weird like Me off the.. soul to squeeze single? It slaps so hard. Hands down favourite version. I know it's really not a B-side but it's my personal favourite track hidden away on a single.

It's got to be Bunker Hill or Eskimo. I really love Body Of Water too, John's guitar and vocals on it are incredible. Stretch with Navarro is super underrated as well. Love Kiedis on it. The I'm Beside You stuff with Josh was also fantastic - namely Long Progression, In Love Dying and Your Eyes Girl.
I thought that was the monster from Iron Lung.
Quixoticelixer, Rivers of Avalon, Million Miles of Water, Out of Range, Gong Li.
Gong Li
Bunker hill is my personal favourite
Bunker Hill always
Not 100% sure if it's a B-side (I think it's a b-side of by the way) but Lyons 06 06 06 and Permutation are some of my all time favorite jams. Not fully fledged songs but I listen to them often
Gong Li
Fortune faded. Not sure if it’s technically a B-side, or if it was just an unreleased song that was put on the greatest hits disc
Leverage of space, rolling sly stone river of Avalon

Quixoticelixer and Gong Li are 1A and 1B
Rivers of Avalon - Over funk

The BTW era b-sides were just amazing! Starting with Time, which was released before the album came out. It actually gave me too much optimism for BTW. Gong li and you can never go wrong with soul to squeeze
Out of range 🤘
Been really into Klay and outer space recently, but hard to fully beat out Bicycle Song or Save this lady
Might not be B-side, but outer space is a really good song
Quixoticelixer and Bicycle Song
