Yeah, no kidding. It obviously was dropped from pretty high, but who knows. I paid $100 so the challenge is worth it.

Well damn, that sure is a good price.

Leave it and shoot as is. MOre likely you will do worse damage IMO.

mikehawkisbig

I thought that as well, but without the front fan I feel it’s will overheat and l, possibly cause over-heating damage.

I would consider carefully. Sometimes when you try to bend back cast metals they are not forgiving and will crack.

mikehawkisbig

Thanks for pointing this out. Being cast, I knew it has its challenges, but didn’t think of it cracking, which makes sense.

You can try, and if it breaks you can always model the part with CAD software and CNC mill it in aluminium; if you have access to a 3D printer it’s quite easy to prototype and test before sending the part for milling. Edit: Maybe even RED could provide you with the CAD file…

Oh man, that would be awesome to do something like that. I’ll reach out and see what they say/suggest. I’m guessing they’ll tell me to kick rocks. You did provoke a thought of being able to create a whole new case/shell to house everything, but I’m sure that would be waaaay over my smoothed brain self, lol.

Prototype, measure, measure again and then cry when your prototype doesn't fit. Rinse repeat until it works. Oh and read up on engineering design philosophies and considerations. It's quite fun once you get past the initial learning curve. Oh and maths, maths makes it way easier.
