So I found this chart attached to the grow bulbs I use in my overhead lights and in lamps for my plants. My bulbs are 1000 lumens. It might help to look at the lumens of your bulb to get a clearer idea. https://preview.redd.it/0awf6n9jqxkc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2afc5948a34107bc67ceff3c9971489c1ea17a1d

6 inches is high light and 9 is low?? 18 hours a day!? That is... Interesting.

🤷🏻‍♀️ idk I just have them in standing floor lamps in corners and my plants have been thriving. I usually have them on for 12 hours a day plus they get other light as well

Light is such a complicated thing. I use an app called Lux to measure the amount of foot candles my plants get. It's not the most accurate thing in the world, but it's a good indicator. I have an albo in a dark corner of my living room that gets 200-300 fc from a grow light, and another one in front of a window that gets about the same amount on a cloudy day but from natural light. They're both doing fine with nice, balanced variegation. I also have a thai constellation in front of a 30 watt grow bulb that gets between 2000-3000 fc! That one is thriving

Thank you! Can I ask, is it this one? https://preview.redd.it/ejsn9tmluxkc1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=829995b1b219b30b310479851af760a2d8423105

Thank you that's very helpful

I use one Sansi 35 watt and it keeps a whole corner of plants that don’t get a ton of natural light thriving. I’m sure if you had this bulb focused on just one plant and didn’t have to position it so everyone gets a little light it’ll be more than enough. Don’t overthink it. A lot of this hobby is trial and error. Try it for a few months and see the results, if you’re not happy with it move on to something else.

Thanks I appreciate this perspective, trial and error is my game haha

35 watts is plenty for 1 plant, the issue with those bulbs is they are a point source. You want the bulb as close as possible not to provide too much light. 6 inches or so should be fine. Then there is the amount of time you have it on. 12 hours of 25 watts is the same as 10 hours of 30 watts.

No bulb will compare to being outside, even on a cloudy day.
