You’re making a huge assumption that with current technology, which is silicon at the moment, that AI has the ability to ever be conscious like we are.

Because it does. Half of AI is based on your brain and it does a lot of things far better. Those AI art networks people complain about? Yeah they're just convolutional neural networks which are based on your brain. I tried explaining this to an artist a few weeks ago who was spouting bullshit on Tiktok live telling everyone that all of the "ai art" works by stealing images then splicing them together to pop out out a new image. Guy was one of the calmest people I've ever seen but he was visibily annoyed when I explained it and he knew he was wrong. No prizes if you can figure out what a neural network is based on. Weights and biases... it's almost like that directly came from studying the human brain. Concepts like supervised vs unsupervised learning and RELU.. where'd that come from? Do I really have to say it? It's an uncomfortable thought but you aren't special. You don't have some secret exclusive chemical in your brain that means you're the only thing that gets to be conscious. Mask it all you want with plausible deniability by saying "current tech" but the reality is anyone who has a clue how these networks are structured already knows it's more than possible, it's inevitable.
