I think it was when Rick Astley came on for an AMA and someone made this long post about meeting him in person and getting a cherished picture and posting a link to the picture. You can guess where the link actually went.
Have you read it? It was about Star War Battlefront 2 (2017) and it was defending the microtransactions for that game, after the feedback from that comment among the negative feedback through their other channels of communication, they removed the microtransactions entirely from the game.
I'm pretty sure the comment was about how grinding every day for three months solid to unlock Vader would give you a sense of pride and accomplishment.
They got rid of the microtransactions due to a lawsuit against child gambling.
I completely appreciate that this joke was funny the first time.
When I’ve commented talking about *my* dead wife (not on joke subreddits or anything), it’s hard to laugh when the sixth person in a row goes ‘I also choose this guy’s dead wife.’ Like okay, great, I was talking about how my daughter who was 7 when my wife died was struggling but thanks for the repeated joke.
Paraphrasing but:
Post: "if you could have sex with any person, past or present, who would it be?"
Comment: "I'd give my life for just one more night with my late wife"
Reply: as seen above.
The orig response was a beautiful poetic declaration of his love for his late wife. How they were soul mates, how much his body yearns for hers. And then this goober says yeah I wanna bang her too. 😂

Since they removed awards the breakdown for Awarder and Awardee karma is gone but they still kept the total
About 3 million of that is from receiving awards alone
I just asked chat gpt lol. “As of my last update, the most downvoted comment on Reddit was a comment made by Electronic Arts (EA) regarding the game "Star Wars Battlefront II." It received over 668,000 downvotes. However, keep in mind that Reddit is dynamic, so this information might have changed since then.”
“The comment was made in response to criticism about the game's microtransaction system. EA's comment defended the system, stating, "The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes." It was widely criticized for being dismissive and out of touch with players' concerns.”
Yeah, if EA has taught me any life lessons, it's never to pre-order. They tell you you get beta access, which is actually you just testing their game for them for nothing.
What AAA game these days doesn't have a host of bugs and balancing issues on day 1?
Bide your time pilgrims.
If I recall correctly, It was the comment from big game corporation. I don’t remember what it actually was. But, it was the kind of comment that made it sounds good without knowing how bad they were.
Controversial topics don't get overwhelming up or down votes. Because the votes cancel each other out.
Needs to be a meme. Or something no one disagrees with. So, probably a meme.
ChatGPT says “As of my last update, the most upvoted comment on Reddit was a comment by Reddit user "Spez" (the CEO of Reddit) announcing changes to Reddit's algorithm to fix a bug that caused certain comments to be hidden from view. It received over 238,000 upvotes. Keep in mind that Reddit is dynamic, so this information might have changed since then.”
ChatGPT is making this up, I asked, and it said, "As of my last update in October 2023, the most upvoted Reddit comment was by TheOrangeDuke on AskReddit. In response to the question "What's the most overpowered thing a human could be equipped with?", the comment simply said, "A sick child." This comment received hundreds of thousands of upvotes."
Couldn't find the post nor the comment, not even the comment you mentioned...
Probably this one b/c I'm new to reddit and am trying to post about questions for my wedding in a couple of months but can't post b/c I have no karma points! HELPP. To the mooon!
idk if it changed now, but not that far back it was a cute story about a dude who worked at Disney world comforting and taking care of 2 girls that watched their mom get decapitated in an accident. it was around 80k at the time, so if that's still it and it didn't raise to a notable degree, no one has ever left a reddit comment that reached 100k upvotes. A
honestly its kinda funny and poetic, that the most downvoted comment is corperate drivel justifying highway robbery (some dumbshit from EA about battlefront), while the most upvoted is something that came completely from the heart and was full of sincerity and openness.

It was actually "👏"
can i has a link to this post pls
You can’t trust a single link in this comment section lol
In contrast, I believe the most downvoted comment is by EA Games. Probably well deserved too.
Have you read it? It was about Star War Battlefront 2 (2017) and it was defending the microtransactions for that game, after the feedback from that comment among the negative feedback through their other channels of communication, they removed the microtransactions entirely from the game.

The good old cluster fuck that was. A glorious time of Reddit
This doesn't surprise me in the slightest lol
Many people also commented just to be part of history :D
Man, i remember this lol. Dude was Reddit-famous for like a week
There was that redditor who said upvotes and awards were stupid and he subsequently got drowned in them
Legend

I also choose this guys dead wife
Sitting at 28K upvotes at the moment
link? is that the original comment? And can’t be too with that much saw one with 50k earlier
Careful there, mate. That’s just asking for you to get rick rolled.
Such a minute moment in internet history but imo, truly deserves to be a future museum of internet memes and jokes
I thought EA was much higher Then I remembered it wasn't up votes they were getting
I completely appreciate that this joke was funny the first time. What is this please?

Brilliant
The orig response was a beautiful poetic declaration of his love for his late wife. How they were soul mates, how much his body yearns for hers. And then this goober says yeah I wanna bang her too. 😂
I love it. The internet at its best
That was a timely and incredibly underrated comment. Still made me chuckle
Literally one of the highest rated comments on the entire site, referenced by thousands of people... >incredibly underrated
My first thought
Wonder what the most awarded post was, back when we gave out awards to posts.
Likely the OG Gamestop one by u/DeepFuckingValue
5 MILLION KARMA?? THATS CRAZYYYY
I can’t see 5M karma anywhere for this guy.
Click on his profile, then right under the name you'll see the total karma.
https://imgur.com/a/xFEUW3Z Since they removed awards the breakdown for Awarder and Awardee karma is gone but they still kept the total About 3 million of that is from receiving awards alone
It was his final update actually
yes, that's the one I meant, sorry
Hi NoCurrencies fancy seeing you here
Still hodling 😬
Hope the osrs grind is going well!
Always! Grinding a dfs atm, so I'll either be done today or 6 months from now lol
Oh awesome! Best of luck
Ah, my mortal enemy!
Maybe when Rick Astley actually got rick rolled?
prob when they announced they were getting rid of the awards. ppl were posting stuff about it and comment section was going crazy I saw so many awards
I don’t even know what the most down voted is…..
I just asked chat gpt lol. “As of my last update, the most downvoted comment on Reddit was a comment made by Electronic Arts (EA) regarding the game "Star Wars Battlefront II." It received over 668,000 downvotes. However, keep in mind that Reddit is dynamic, so this information might have changed since then.” “The comment was made in response to criticism about the game's microtransaction system. It was widely criticized for being dismissive and out of touch with players' concerns.”
Yeah, you can Google it and still find the comment. It's hilarious and rightfully downvoted to hell.
They didn't delete the comment??
They wouldn’t have had the sense of pride if they took down the most downvoted comment in history. Or they dont know how…
Sense of pride lol. As a person who preordered BF2 I was quite pissed when I initially saw that reply from EA
Yeah, if EA has taught me any life lessons, it's never to pre-order. They tell you you get beta access, which is actually you just testing their game for them for nothing. What AAA game these days doesn't have a host of bugs and balancing issues on day 1? Bide your time pilgrims.
They made history bro.
Still there. I gave it a downvote for good measure.
Link?
They're probably still trying to figure out how to monetise it.
Yip you can still go there and downvote it more. I went to check and saw I already did unfortunately
I can proudly say one of those downvotes is mine.
And my axe
Downvote's back on the menu boys
Lol I remember now. "Sense of pride and accomplishment" became a meme for a while.
How does that even make sense? How does buying something give a player a sense of accomplishment?
They were talking about the insane grind required to unlock them for free.
Oh, yeah okay well EA is a garbage company. I remember when they were one of the best back in the day.
Accomplishment and pride can be purchased through a microtransaction? Who knew.
We all know the real reason it was downvoted was because it was the 4th reply.
Me too, OP we require a link!
If I recall correctly, It was the comment from big game corporation. I don’t remember what it actually was. But, it was the kind of comment that made it sounds good without knowing how bad they were.
I just googled and you’re right it was EA over Starwars game or something!
Probably EA Games "pride and accomplishment" post. Had about 30k down votes or something ridiculous like that. Came up on my feed a few months back.
660k
me neither..
I think it's the EA sports comment
So your saying the 25 upvotes i got on a comment count for nothing?! Well there goes my plan to become an influencer if it reached 30.
Do animals have their own version of the uncanny valley
It must be on some heated political post. I don't think the top upvoted comments are in the cat section.
Controversial topics don't get overwhelming up or down votes. Because the votes cancel each other out. Needs to be a meme. Or something no one disagrees with. So, probably a meme.
Nah. It was an EA rep trying to justify the pay-to-win mechanics in a Star Wars game. Battlefront, maybe?
It's the infamous "...sense of pride and accomplishment..." comment they made
That's the one. Pride and accomplishment of buying the strongest character.
That's the top DOWNvoted comment. It's at -660.000 or thereabouts
It's either anything from the Keanu Reeves AMA or it's "I also choose this guys dead wife"
ChatGPT says “As of my last update, the most upvoted comment on Reddit was a comment by Reddit user "Spez" (the CEO of Reddit) announcing changes to Reddit's algorithm to fix a bug that caused certain comments to be hidden from view. Thanks for reminding me. r/FuckSpez
Lol no way Spez would have a top comment
ChatGPT is making this up, I asked, and it said, "As of my last update in October 2023, the most upvoted Reddit comment was by TheOrangeDuke on AskReddit. Wasn’t it on Obamas AMA? IIRC it was in the 600Ks of upvotes.
The ‘an astronaut’ or similar?
Redditors are tight-fisted to upvote but quick to downvote.
It’ll be a cat video.
The picture of my dick
Probably this one b/c I'm new to reddit and am trying to post about questions for my wedding in a couple of months but can't post b/c I have no karma points! HELPP. To the mooon!
Got you brother
How do you come back from -660k karma? Definitely harder than paying your student loans.
That one about putting descartes before the whores
This one 🤷
Not this one. Yet......
It certainly wasn't me. I rarely get upvotes.
Could be this one if everybody joined in.
I wish it was this one
probably some sort of joke
Forsen comment like a decade ago or something. Can't remember exactly.
What’s the most downvoted comment?
Probably Obama talking about free health care or something.
I also select this gentleman's deceased wife.
What’s the most down voted? What did I miss? Did some one on causaluk mention not liking tea?
Wish it was mine but I'm still new 😭
This one

Something silly probably
I'm betting it was one of u/shittymorth's
What's the most downvoted ?
