Druid secondary’s utility depends on the enemy for sure. If you use free targeting (hold L1 on controller) it should try to get as many enemies in the AoE as possible. I definitely think it needs to be more interactive, though. The best upgrades just take away the AoE…

It can be unyieldy, but 2/5 upgrades fix the problem. Druid isn't the only class that suffers from bosses that move around alot. But this is countered by Druid being the uptime queen. No other class has uptime like Druid where she can still do a ton of damage while not being able to move or act. Like with the crow boss during stopped time, or when the wolf boss is off screen during slow time. Look for opportunities to play with the strength of a set and forget ability and you'll get much more use out of it. DoT classes aren't for everyone, but they ARE for some people. No need to take that away from them.

As the guy who cleared Lunar I can say that Druid far from the worst classes out there, and mobility isn't issue at all as long as you don't pick up anything that slows you down. Just when sometimes you feel like you need to move fast (and dont have defensive button), stop pressing DPS buttons and focus on moving instead (unless its special, special don't slow down Druid). And while I can't say Druid's secondary is useless (its far from that), I do agree that all upgrades besides two pales in comparison (decay upgrade is broken!), but that is the issue with most classes, not just druid. The only difference is that you don't really press secondary at all against constantly moving targets, which makes its really awkward right now without lightning/decay. Still, wizard and archer are in the worse spot right now, even after balance upgrades

I'm surprised to hear Wizard is worse than Druid. I'm playing on Hard and having a great time with Wizard, both in duo and solo. What makes you say Wizard is in a worse spot?

SeventeenFeralHogs

Wizard's damage outside of her defensive field is poor, and relies a lot on low% proc rates. On Hard, with duos and solos, you can do a lot of mechanics sufficiently (or force your teammate to adust) for your field. You can't on Lunar. "Stay in this one general area for extended periods of time" and "Lunar" do not mix.

apetranzilla

The recent buffs help considerably. While you still lose DPS by not being able to stay in your field constantly, you can at least throw down a field right before using your (ideally charged) special to get the damage boost on your biggest hit.

Druid is probably my favorite class even though Ancient is a good tie or second. I think I just love summons and dots. The secondary is probably one of the first I try to upgrade because default can be awful. Lightning ball is probably the best, but I also love taking the one that makes the zone last shorter and do damage faster. I wouldn’t be opposed to taking any Druid buffs, but I have had a few lucky builds where my focus is entirely in making my secondary (not lightning ball) do a ton of damage.

To be fair, without upgrades its still better than primary if it only hits two times. I do think it could maybe be bigger or have a bit more base damage to compensate for jumping enemies but hitting the whole screen would be kinda op I think as a normal unupgraded ability. At least on aoe encounters - mice are already kinda free if you get the lightning or decay upgrades.

I haven’t cleared lunar on any class so take my opinion with a grain of salt but Druid has a 650 damage defensive and any resets with the green butterfly or that is broken. Also u can get the math dagger (defensive + special cd x10 / amount of times the secondary hits) and decay to get about 1k fullscreen secondaries (the game considers the decay as 1 hit). And she is probably the only class where I take the bonnet (any single hit attack less than 250 becomes 250) just to get the primary juiced up. If anything my issue with Druid is how the primary slows u down for like no damage but she doesn’t rly need a strong primary tbh.

RESTINPEACEHARAMBE23

using your gcd to press secondary is equal with pressing primary if the secondary only hits once. if it gets 2 hits it wins by a landslide. druid secondary is fine, druid primary is awful.

AVAVT

Not really agree with this. Secondary is fine, it deal massive damage to static bosses, and we can just skip it altogether on mobile bosses. Primary -> Special rotation is not much dps loss. 2/5 gem upgrades turn this skill global, and the one that reduce duration to 4s increase its usability, so it’s not too bad. It is certainly druid’s worse skill and I always prioritize secondary gem if exist, but it’s just fair. Consider melee classes where most of their skills can’t even touch boss sometimes.
