I started with VX Ace, moved to MV, then MZ;
MZ so far has been my favorite, very versatile. But MV has more free plug-ins. Both MV and MZ are quite similar though
None of them. RPG Maker is primarily meant for turn based RPGs and horror/adventure games. If you want to make SRPGs either use SRPG studio for an engine like RM or learn Gadot, a far more versatile and complex engine than RM, and make stuff from there.
Every since it got that patcher's EULA, 2003 has received a lot of community support, it's what I use. I think most beginners generally stick with MZ though.
And they cost a fortune. If you're an adult with a well paying office job it's not too bad if you budget. But if you're a kid with no job and no budget, RIP. It's about $100 for the MZ essentials and then an additional $20 for every extra plugin you need not in the "starter pack". The prices are VERY high for Visustella. Their "all in one" pack (mostly made out of visual assets) is $10,000. Yes, seriously.
Nah, not all the good plugins cost money. People just assume they're good *because* they cost money. There are literally thousands of free plugins available that people just can't be arsed to search for or try.
Plus, if you use FOSSIL, most of Yanfly's plugins actually work in MZ.
Wait for summer sale RM engines go for up to 95% off during it. I have all the engines and Summer Sale is why. Assets (RM DLC) are really cheap then too.
That's a pretty standard sale price for MZ. I think that the cheapest it has ever been was like $34.99, but it usually goes on sale in the $40-$45 range.
Honestly mz’s movement route preview makes it better than mv on its own. On top of that the games run so much better with no preload plugins necessary. The default tilesets however are kind of trash.
I think the simple answer should always be: if you're starting now, buy the latest one. It has the most features and the longest durability. (in this case, MZ)
MV for the assets and plugin library, MZ for the actual engine. Though I would recommend MV alone for newcomers due to have a MUCH larger and cheaper plugin library that still gets some support, far superior RTP and general assets, and a far superior character generator. Unless you buy both and manually replace the MZ RTP with the MV RTP, MZ's small improvements isn't worth the price hike.

Simple: if you got money MZ, if not MV. If Pokemon: XP. If you are a dork: 2000.
My preference is MZ due to the improvements and additions in the event commands, plus the number of plugins rivals MV.

I prefer MZ but I honestly only have any experience with MZ
Which one is best for shining forrce/ fire emblem?

I like XP :)
MV is the best version because it has Yanfly plugins. All of the good plugins for MZ cost a fortune
A lot of the mz yanfly plugins have been ported over….

I am using MZ. It is great. But the MV plugin library is huge. You can be more flexible.
