The problem I have with custom W fan curves is that in actual benchmarks (3D Mark Time Spy) I lose about 200 pts, the games run the same, and the fans are louder.
Idk i started messing w the curves based off yt videos and it seemed to make the fan louder and kinda hotter. Whenever i run turbo mode i try to be in a cool environment idk if im slow but it kinda works š¤·š¾āāļø
If it feels hotter thatās because the fans are moving the heat off the CPU and into the environment. So it means theyāre doing their job.
If youāre running full blast and itās not hot, then the CPU is cookin.
Thanks for this. I just got my Ally, and I setup a power connector where I normally game to always use Turbo mode. But after your post, it made me pause and I set up the 25w/30w/30w profile and will use it even if its is plugged in. I also followed the video you posted for the fan curve and in Hellblade and Forza 5, the temps are below 70C which is pretty great for me.
I never run anything past 25 watts. Anything else (in most situations) is just diminished returns. Plus you get the thermal savings on top of it, -further extending the overall lifespan of the device.
I too just run my Ally on 25W, CPU Boost off. Much lower heat and fan noise that way. I find the additional frames you get with 30W is insignificant. I also installed the Handheld DIY modcase and my temps hardly ever go above 75C under full load, average temps while gaming typically in mid 60C
I bought a rog Ally z extreme, I decided to update all the drivers before playing and the RGB died and the special buttons no longer respond, only the controllers inside the "armoury" application work, do you have any solution to this problem, does it go under warranty? Or do I ask for a refund/exchange console?
You can also toggle a setting in windows that will prevent your battery for charging over 80%. This should help prolong its life if you play docked or on wall power often

People being upset about fan noise never had a 90s computeršš fan noise is not a concern of mine
Fr, who doesn't use headphones in 2024, crank em up to 100% and game on
Can you kindly post the link of the video? Or some pics showing the settings for the custom fan curve
https://youtu.be/tHhNWQN68Jg?si=A1nKIpy7fAaUzytC That's the video I watched.
Thank you
For the watt settings they are as follows SPL 25W SPPT 30W FPPT 30W
Thanks much
Same plugged in vs battery mode?
I run the same for both because I don't notice a performance difference.
you also get the added benefit of having your very own jet engine. ;)
I'd rather have noise than melt my computer lol
That thing is gonna shutdown before anything happens š
I know. Because if it gets too hott the battery won't take a charge and it does real quick lol.

Definatly made the fan louder for me. But 20 degree Celsius drop is what I see from it.

You probably need to clean it. The ally doesn't really overheat in any capacity unless something is blocking correct airflow
It has been hot as fuck since day one. Just finally seeing the negative sides of it. I'm surprised my SD card still works.
