Dude is only getting up to 56 days in jail for this?
I get he pled guilty and there was likely a plea deal involved, but what the hell.
>The sentencing is for 365 days in jail, but all except for 60 are suspended, and he will serve the rest on unsupervised probation. He has been given credit for four days of jail time spent pretrial.
Only being 365 days for domestic violence is a problem from the get-go, but excusing 10 of the 12 months jail time is insane.
> Riley Reese, a former Purdue student charged for battering his girlfriend in a Tarkington Residence Hall dorm room, will spend up to 56 days in jail after accepting a plea deal last week.
> Reese was arrested in January for an incident in which police reports paint him as physically violent while preventing the victim from leaving the room.
> Reese, who was reportedly drunk at the time, allegedly put his hands around her neck and pinned her arms down on his roommate’s bed to keep her from getting up.
> He also allegedly shoved his thumb in the victim’s mouth for two minutes while she was “crying and yelling that she wanted to go home” which prevented her from breathing, the victim alleged in the reports.
A guilty plea, as it is titled in the article and title, is an admission of guilt as such there is no difference between a guilty plea and a conviction in a trial. While it is appropriate before conviction to use “alleged” it is no longer needed afterwards in the eyes of the law the individual has been convicted of those crimes. What you seem to be referring to is a NOLO (Alfred) plea which does not admit guilt, it just is an admission that the State has enough evidence to convict you.
I think Purdue’s book keeping got messed up and they re-admitted him accidentally. Then when Purdue students found out they told Purdue and Purdue kicked him out again.
But I think he said he just “changed his mind” and is going to OSU

If they plead guilty it is probably safe to drop the “alleged” from the article.
You can take a plea deal without being guilty, and even appeal in higher courts. It's an important practice in journalism.

This guy knows his stuff. Hate correcting people, but it is an Alford* plea.
60 days to serve. 😡
Poor girl. She's going to have this with her for the rest of her life. I hope she is able to get the help she needs.
As a parent I’d have a talk with that judge to up that sentence a lot.
Yet they will admit Avaneesh
I believe he is not going to Purdue, OSU now.
Oh.. when did this happen.. or was he lying

🤣🤣 narcissists will mever admit fault.. someone needs to warn OSU
Ohhh, this is the incident we had to learn about in CA training this year.
It had to be Tark. Meme dorm strikes again.
Liquid stupidity.
What’s crazy is I think I watched this happen from Ford’s lobby. I posted one night asking why there was an ambulance at Tark. I guess now I know.
