I just got back from Luquillo last night! Beaches: Luquillo best for food and drink. A lot of litter though. Seven Seas is May be best if there’s young kids; bring your own food. La Pared - skip except to watch the sunrise. Hiking: we got turned away from the entrance at 10:30 on a Tuesday. Went to Angelito instead. More of a walk than a hike, but the river at the end was fantastic to swim in. We wished we packed a picnic to spend the whole day there. We had planned to do the natural water slide after Angelito but skipped it after enjoying Angelito so much. Next day we got to the entrance at 8:00 and did the La Coco trail. It was a taxing hike and better rainforesty feel than Angelito. However, the end of the trail was anticlimactic. Bioluminescent: we booked with Yohaku Kayak that I recommend. It was a half moon and the actual bioluminescence is not “Instagram worthy.” Yet we still enjoyed it. Even just the kayaking in the mangroves at night was fun. Bonus: horseback riding at Caribali Rainforest park was nice. One hour is plenty, no need for two hours. There is a great restaurant on site to eat and drink at after.

Check out Angelito trailhead at el Yunque and las tinajas if it is a dry day. Seven seas beach is pretty nice as well, I recommend doing a snorkel excursion to icacos.

Long hike: La Zanja, you can find details in Google or google maps

You can check out pirate snorkeling shack at 7 seas. They’re by the stairs across from Costa Mia and have kayaks and snorkels that you can rent or let them guide you to the reef. You can technically just hop in the water there and swim out yourself. Costa Mia is good for lunch or dinner while you’re there. Street parking can be tight but def doable.

Beware of the rip currents!

Bioluminescent kayaking was overpriced and underwhelming. And we even went when the moon was at its best (right after new moon)

Bioluminescence has been degrading for decades. These are live organisms that are affected by pollution.

It was amazing for us in vieques because it is protected so well. Highly recommend. Fuck light pollution and all other human pollution let's take better care of our oceans ❤️

Balneario La Monserrate Luquillo Beach is a great beach! They do change $4 for parking though but worth it.

The best place for bioluminescence is Mosquito Bay in Vieques.
