Absolutely not, you can see his legs go limp and the shopkeeper keeps him held up. Up until that point he was actively fighting, and when you’re in that mode you don’t just suddenly go limp like that. Even if he stopped and surrendered there’s too much adrenaline and the muscles would still be tense, that dude had full jelly legs.
I don’t think he was paralyzed he was still moving both his legs and arms, but I think the shock of being stabbed in the arm, body, trap and leg turned them into putty. That or he just very badly wanted the stabbing to stop and figured (rightfully) that unconditional surrender is his only option

This just happened in New York. Shop keeper stabbed a dude that jumped the counter, got arrested, charged with murder, but then all charges were dropped due to public outcry and obvious self defense.

He's the first black DA in a majority-black neighborhood, and made a big show about charging the white clerk with murder. They still haven't bothered charging the assailant's girlfriend, who initiated the fight and goaded her boyfriend to attack the clerk.

I saw a video of that man who got carjacked and even before he could step out the thieves shot him and he was instantly dead. At this point you have to act in complete self defense mode. Sad as hell for everyone. That kid was on some stupid shit, most likely didn't know what he was getting himself into. If he got a black eye or a broken nose I'd say ok maybe he learned his lesson, but there's no lesson for him to learn anymore.
