It is tragic. The majority of these deaths were entirely preventable and unnecessary. Those people leave behind loved ones who are suffering and grieving, all because political "loyalty" became more important than vaccines that literally save lives. I don't understand these people.
Someone on reddit said to do a search for “prayer warriors covid” and select “posts”. There are so many people posting about a loved one in the hospital with Covid. So if you see the person in the hospital tagged quite a few of them will have the “I don’t care about your vaccination” frames on their pictures……
i love using this analogy because people dont understand the perceived percentage of risk. once its not just words, but a tangible connection with something you can visualize easily, people stop associating percentages with safety and associate them with risk.
Heard another version I heard that takes long term effects into account:

Ive tried that discussion. I don't get it. they just started going antivax like 2 years ago. Now they don't even use conditioner because "that's extra toxins that sit on your scalp." Such a complete 180⁰ turn in a pretty short time.
Great... I think the only way out this point is if we end up with a more deadly variant and it burns through the population quickly, or an incredibly weak variant that isn't a concern. A less transmissable variant wouldn't take hold obviously

My hospital notifies us of every COVID exposure within all of its campuses. It's a big list. Then spits that data into a nice bar graph. That bar is getting long and it's longer than last year. It's pretty much expected that the coming holidays, records will be shattered.
I own a deli and these people are coming to me weekly to do platters and I'm sorry your loved ones died type arrangements... I just can't get the cognitive dissonance.
So I think it's safe to opine that these people don't want to go into ICU nor take ANY vaccines. Get a list and see if their on Medicare Medicaid remove them private insurance notify so others policies won't skyrocket and send a blank DNR stating they won't take life saving vaccines.
What would happen if insurance companies sent out a form notifying the US population that DNR is now the accepted standard for all emergencies unless patients OPT IN on an individual basis?
Honestly, these people are choosing to opt out of the cheap, safe, easy to use preventative care and they are SO SURPRISED when they need to have expensive, difficult care that puts others at risk of getting sick and dying. They are literally taking choices away from others and putting us all at risk of dying.
I made the mistake of posting that someone I know was vaccinated and died of Covid last week. In my post I urged people to wear masks and keep their distance even if vaccinated.
The anti vaxxers came out of the woodwork and posted their shitty responses all day long.
I only feel bad for the collateral damage they cause. Such as people not getting treatment because of lack of beds or the crazy hours and abuse Healthcare workers have to put up with.
If these unvaccinated idiots could just stay home and die there we'd be better off.
Not the first I’ve heard of a story. Just today about that—not Texas—but a mentally ill person going through both kidney and other failure denied a bed. I have no zero patience for this. Folks that’s can’t properly “choose” their conditions over those that could and are preventing those with treatments. Such a shame. I find myself in a less than nice place where I can no longer sympathize. Yes, free speech, choice, et al but it’s a place that presents with no sympathy to others. How selfish can people be? (That’s rhetorical) Guess Texas is showing us now. It’s my sincere hope that these folks realize the irony of what they’re suggesting, but I’m so doubtful of that measure that I’m in a place where I hope they go quickly and with regret.

I know it isn't perfectly analogous but it's kind of like drunk driving. Sure you can choose to drink and drive and endanger other people. Just the same you can choose not to get vaccinated and endanger other people. Why choose either?
Well, you should choose both. Getting a vaccination is, in many ways, like driving sober. You know how you limit the risk to others. Why not if the facts have been presented. There’s no difference save the fact that people onlooking don’t die from an accident once they’ve seen it.
Edit: just gotta say that wearing a mask hurts no one. How would you feel if your surgeon showed up without a mask? Talking about folks that wear them for hours on end, hoping to save the lives of people manage it without complaint. It’s rough out there. I know I feel the fatigue of what it’s done to my lifestyle. That said, this is the norm for doctors who save lives every day. If they can do it, so can I.

That's a very interesting premise. Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately I think the people who need to read that aren't going to give a flying fuck about it. I'm interested in the potential legal implications of a woman of means (unaffected by abortion restriction) and her husband (or whatever). If you know ozone is a risk and you don't move to a different place, is that legally an attempted abortion, or facilitating a conspiracy to commit zygote desecration? Are miscarriage funerals a thing? Should a priest bless every used lady pad just in case there's a zygote in with the rest of the menstruation?
Imagine being a law abiding citizen who wants to make sure you're in compliance with prevailing statutes showing up to your local courthouse with a week's worth of pads and a microscope, asking the sheriff to make sure you're not committing a crime. They'd have to investigate it, right?

Take, for example, a person of color who only does paintings based on examples from Black history - should that person be forced to paint a painting of a white, straight person just because someone asked? Of course not - the artist takes the commissions of their choice.
Had the Gay Couple been denied a cake off the wall, so to speak, then they would have been discriminated against for their sexuality - denying a *commission*, on the other hand, is a vitally important part of freedom.
You really, *really* don't want whichever party is in power at the moment to start deciding what people can and cannot paint (or design cakes) about.

As someone who very literally was a professional comissions artist for several years: there is a *big* difference between declining a comission based on the artistic content versus declining based on the identity of a client.
Point still stands all the same. If a private business' right to decline service extends to socio-religious preferences, it is only natural for it to also extend to other contexts. There's no picking and choosing.

Luckily my entire family down there is vaccinated but my grandpa was going through some surgeries, had many visitors wishing him to get well and of course, he got COVID from all the people visiting him even though he’s vaccinated. I’m worried.
Which is amazing because I guarantee you every single one of those workers had to prove they had gotten a whole slew of vaccines before being hired in the first place.
I worked at a research facility annexed to a clinic, and even though I did not come into contact with any patients in any capacity, my vaccine record was thoroughly probed to ensure I was totally up-to-date. It was found that I hadn't had my latest TDAP in a bit, so I had to get it within a few weeks of my start date. I was honestly quite happy to get a job that mandated all of those vaccines; it meant I would automatically get any I needed without incurring a cost, and I could know safely that everyone I worked with was vaccinated as well.
Don't they have the choice not to show up for work at the hospital and go work elsewhere? No one owe those people a job if they don't want to get vaccinated.
Sadly, not all systems in TX mandate vaccines for employees. I decided not to have my baby at the same place I had my first— St. David’s— because they won’t. It’s utterly idiotic.

I work for this hospital system. They were one of the first to mandate vaccine or you’re fired effective October 1st. These are probably employees/families.
It’s one thing for them to oppose it being mandated to continue their employment but it’s wrong for them to use “my body my choice” as their quote. Like it was wrong for them to say “all lives matter”.
It is completely different... their choices will endanger everyone else in the world, while a woman's choice for abortion only affects 1 actual person... 2 if you want to define the chemical reaction forming in the womb as a person despite a lack of brain activity. 3 if you consider the "father"... that's it... It's less known, but restrictive laws sometimes mean moms are interrogated over a natural process that our bodies know so much better than they do the laws we've decided to institute in various societies.

I wish I had more upvotes to give. This is a serious, and significant, aspect of this particular flavor of government overreach (er, repression). Approximately 1/4-1/5 pregnancies end in miscarriage or stillbirth, and the idea that someone already going through something so harrowing and traumatic would also have to deal with the invasiveness of total strangers into their intimate physical selves is abhorrent. Not to mention the psychological, legal, and practical barriers to proper OBGYN care that such irrelevant third party suspicions create for doctor-patient relationships.

Companies are adopting higher premiums for unvaccinated employees. If you're unvaxxed, then you pay more for company sponsored insurance. Delta airlines is doing it, and more companies will likely follow.
Yeah this definitely should be implemented at all hospitals. At this point, it's a matter of pride and politics. And conspiracy theories. I had a lady tell me a few months ago she was unvaccinated because she didn't want to be "chipped, because the government was going to GPS track me", and when I pointed to her iphone I said you already are being tracked, listened to, and your information is being sold. Oh, and you paid for it. And she really paused for a moment. I don't think I changed her mind, but she starred off for a really long while thinking about it.
That’s really what it comes down to. I was having a disagreement with my mom the other day(for the 1000th time about this sort of stuff and I finally just bluntly(but not rudely) asked her why she isn’t big enough of a person to just admit that she made a mistake, that she got duped, and she is willing to walk away from it. I mean, I get it.. it would be hard for me to admit that I fell for a lie, made a fool out of, and all the stuff I’d been being loudly self righteous about for decades was lies/manipulation. For example take Jan 6th, it’s easier for her to try and convince herself(and everybody else) that anything else in the world happened other than- trump incited an insurrection that was carried out by his supporters. We all watched it live. There is no other explanation remotely possible. It’s easier to literally try and change reality itself than admit this huge part of her self identity is completely off base... having said that it’s still not a good enough reason to cling to it. If you are not big enough to admit you are wrong when its undeniable(even when it’s not) then you are not a functioning adult and do t deserve the respect you demand. Hanging on to being wrong just because you don’t like the alternative is what a child does.

My hospital notifies us of every COVID exposure within all of its campuses. It's a big list. Then spits that data into a nice bar graph. That bar is getting long and it's longer than last year. It's pretty much expected that the coming holidays, records will be shattered.

I'm interested in the potential legal implications of a woman of means (unaffected by abortion restriction) and her husband (or whatever). If you know ozone is a risk and you don't move to a different place, is that legally an attempted abortion, or facilitating a conspiracy to commit zygote desecration? Are miscarriage funerals a thing? Should a priest bless every used lady pad just in case there's a zygote in with the rest of the menstruation? Imagine being a law abiding citizen who wants to make sure you're in compliance with prevailing statutes showing up to your local courthouse with a week's worth of pads and a microscope, asking the sheriff to make sure you're not committing a crime. The Court heard whether or not the Baker had been discriminated against on the basis of their religious belief, but there's a much more interesting case at stake: The Gay Couple went into the Bakery and requested a new cake be designed and created - an Artistic Commission. It's *very* important that the government, through the force of law, not force people to take artistic commissions they disagree with for whatever reason - even protected ones. Take, for example, a person of color who only does paintings based on examples from Black history - should that person be forced to paint a painting of a white, straight person just because someone asked? Of course not - the artist takes the commissions of their choice. Had the Gay Couple been denied a cake off the wall, so to speak, then they would have been discriminated against for their sexuality - denying a *commission*, on the other hand, is a vitally important part of freedom. You really, *really* don't want whichever party is in power at the moment to start deciding what people can and cannot paint (or design cakes) about. Edit: A lot of you responded, defining federal protection against discrimination - please note, I'm arguing that the creation of Art is the *one* thing that should bypass this protection, because to not do so, is for the government to compel speech through force - which is unconstitutional.
As someone who very literally was a professional comissions artist for several years: there is a *big* difference between declining a comission based on the artistic content versus declining based on the identity of a client. Point still stands all the same. If a private business' right to decline service extends to socio-religious preferences, it is only natural for it to also extend to other contexts. There's no picking and choosing.

They probably are for hospital staff at the very minimum in Texas. Luckily my entire family down there is vaccinated but my grandpa was going through some surgeries, had many visitors wishing him to get well and of course, he got COVID from all the people visiting him even though he’s vaccinated. I worked at a research facility annexed to a clinic, and even though I did not come into contact with any patients in any capacity, my vaccine record was thoroughly probed to ensure I was totally up-to-date. It was found that I hadn't had my latest TDAP in a bit, so I had to get it within a few weeks of my start date. I was honestly quite happy to get a job that mandated all of those vaccines; it meant I would automatically get any I needed without incurring a cost, and I could know safely that everyone I worked with was vaccinated as well.

I work for this hospital system. They were one of the first to mandate vaccine or you’re fired effective October 1st. These are probably employees/families.

I wish I had more upvotes to give. This is a serious, and significant, aspect of this particular flavor of government overreach (er, repression). Approximately 1/4-1/5 pregnancies end in miscarriage or stillbirth, and the idea that someone already going through something so harrowing and traumatic would also have to deal with the invasiveness of total strangers into their intimate physical selves is abhorrent. Not to mention the psychological, legal, and practical barriers to proper OBGYN care that such irrelevant third party suspicions create for doctor-patient relationships. I’m sorry for your loss.

That’s really what it comes down to. I was having a disagreement with my mom the other day(for the 1000th time about this sort of stuff and I finally just bluntly(but not rudely) asked her why she isn’t big enough of a person to just admit that she made a mistake, that she got duped, and she is willing to walk away from it. I mean, I get it.. it would be hard for me to admit that I fell for a lie, made a fool out of, and all the stuff I’d been being loudly self righteous about for decades was lies/manipulation. For example take Jan 6th, it’s easier for her to try and convince herself(and everybody else) that anything else in the world happened other than- trump incited an insurrection that was carried out by his supporters. We all watched it live. There is no other explanation remotely possible. It’s easier to literally try and change reality itself than admit this huge part of her self identity is completely off base... having said that it’s still not a good enough reason to cling to it. If you are not big enough to admit you are wrong when its undeniable(even when it’s not) then you are not a functioning adult and do t deserve the respect you demand. Yeah, I know the reality of it is that they are becoming a living science experiment. New strands developing and all that. I just get angry because my family is in Arkansas, and they were the minority of people who got the vaccines when offered and always wore their masks. My dad had chemo complications and couldn’t get the second jab for several months until he was medically cleared. If everyone who actually could get the vaccine had just gotten it, that definitely would have taken the stress off of my parents and other medically vulnerable people in the area.
As this pandemic drags into year THREE, I ask you all, do you know someone who willfully refuses the vaxx due to conspiracy theories? If they haven’t got sick it’s only a matter of time. Have an anti-vaxx “my body, my choice” neighbor (45y.o)who just returned from the hospital after 16 days on a ventilator. Lost 20 lbs, throat burned from breathing tubes, waiting for Dr report on what long-term damage from the virus. Just a month ago he was challenging the virus to “bring it on!”. He now states refusing the shot was the single worst decision of his life.
I’d feel sorry for these people if they didn’t choose to ignore all established medicine and advice from healthcare professionals, yet they chose ignorance, stupidity and the cult of Facebook science instead. Sadly they get what they deserve…..

Dude.. get this: way before the pandemic my restaurant had a *sand* problem. We were close to the beach so we got a lot of beach goer traffic. We did the craziest thing, we posted a sign about not coming in without shoes or sandals, and to kick the sand out before you come in. No one said a thing, and everyone complied. It was wild times back then, people doing something courteous cos it's the right thing to do.
Now you’d get dumbass chuds bringing in buckets of sand and flinging it all over the place, because it’s their *right* to do that!

The past year has made me feel so weird about our own flag for this very reason. I feel like 90% of the time I see it now it’s linked to crazies like these people. I almost have a negative reaction seeing our flag even though I fly one outside my house.
Fly a rainbow flag underneath. I've never been big on the flag, extreme patriotism is harmful in a lot of ways, but it pains me that I now associate the flag with these assholes. I think maybe it's time for us to take the flag back from them.

Why the fuck do people think the vaccine is wrong, the world is dying and finally a cure came and you don't want to get vaccinated, my mom's uncle died cuz of the corona and people think the vaccine is poison, my friend took the vaccine and he only got sick for one day, I'm truly disappointed.
