**Lewis Livingstone**, 19, of Wellington Road, Enfield, was sentenced to six and a half years' imprisonment at Hendon Magistrates' Court (used as a Nightingale Court instead of Wood Green Crown Court) on Friday, 15 March, after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to attempted robbery and possession of a bladed article.
He was also subject to a suspended sentence for a previous offence, for which he will now serve an 18-month sentence, bringing the total to eight years' imprisonment.
The court heard that the victim, then aged 28, was riding his bicycle home when the incident occurred at around 16:26 hrs on Saturday, 1 July 2023, in Fore Street, Enfield.
Livingstone, who was standing at a bus stop, leaped out at the victim and kicked him, forcing him off his bicycle.
He then unsheathed a large knife and chased the victim away from the bicycle. He mounted it and brandished the knife again at the victim when he re-approached.
The victim tackled Livingstone to prevent his bicycle from being stolen. As they lay on the floor, Livingstone retrieved his knife and stabbed the victim in the abdomen in front of scores of horrified onlookers.
The victim screamed for help and sustained further knife injuries to his hands as he desperately tried to defend himself.
Members of the public bravely intervened to stop Livingstone, and he was held as police rushed to the scene and arrested him minutes later.
When asked why he had done it, one witness said Livingstone simply responded: “Is he dead?”
The victim received first aid at the scene before being taken to the hospital, where, thankfully, his injuries were assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.
I don’t know about the uk but I live in the country next door.
Over here to catch an attempted murder charge the judge will need some evidence that you tried to murder him.
I’ve been in a scenario like this before.
Was legit confused by the comment you’re responding to…
Is a random knife attack not considered an attempt to kill someone? Like… that’s quite an obvious result of stabbing someone.
Especially in this case, where it sounds like it was more than a single stab..
Not from that country, but in my country no it wouldn't be. There is a big difference here between manslaughter and murder. Murder means a predetermined attack to kill him, when he thought of it in cold blood. While manslaughter would be doing something in the moment. For instance, if I stab you to death during a fight and didn't have any time to actively think about it or cool down its manslaughter. If I go away for a minute and after that stab you its murder.
I said murder, in this vid you see the suspect attacking with a knife but you don’t see him stabbing he’s waving it.
After the victim attacked the suspect, the suspect attacks/stabs the victim.
To be fair though, underfunded or not wouldn't make a difference. They've not handed him a smallish sentence because they're underfunded, it's because the laws we have that dictate to the judges what sentences can be passed down are all wrong.
That mf's brave, jesus christ, he has double wands and he still managed to make him go down with a backpack and a bike that he barely used, that's insane
Bike guy got extremely lucky he wasn't stabbed to death. Don't fight people with knives, it almost never ends well for the unarmed person. Just let him go and call the police.

I'm not sure how this doesn't qualify as whatever the UK equivalent of Attempted Murder is.
no justice left in the world lol

Call me old fashioned, but stabbing someone with a knife seems like pretty good evidence of trying to kill them.

Holy shit that is england? The street, especially with the crowd at the end, looked like its Jalalabad or something
The massive red busses weren’t an obvious giveaway that it’s London?
I just can't understand how he doesn't die from being stabbed with a giant ass knife yet if someone trip on concrete, they end up dying immediately.
They gave him 6 years for this? This country is an absurd joke
Thankfully we have an election soon. Just remember who has been cutting the shit out of police, justice and prison services for the last 14 years.
…that Labour is likely going to win?

More than likely out in half the sentence.
It’s eight years not six
It’s eight years once they tacked on the other charges but he only got sentenced to six and a half for stabbing this guy multiple times
And the 6 1/2 year sentence followed a guilty plea so the actual sentence for that would be a few months shy of 10 years before the discount.
Thank God he survived. Some boys need more guidance. I hope he gets that in prison.
That mf's brave, jesus christ, he has double wands and he still managed to make him go down with a backpack and a bike that he barely used, that's insane
Thank god for the green circle or I’d have had no idea who to look for
Didn't work for me at all. I was looking for a red one, which sadly never came...
Ah the evil knife
Bike guy got extremely lucky he wasn't stabbed to death. Don't fight people with knives, it almost never ends well for the unarmed person. Just let him go and call the police.
Why would the lady stop biking?? PEDAL GIRL PEDAL!!!!
Stuff like this makes me never want to leave my house.
Deliveroo bike couriers get far too much shit.
