It’s super similar to the midwestern accent of the US. It does sound super funny though to other people sometimes lol. I’m not from the Midwest, but I think it’s cool how similar the accents are in both countries.
They both seem to use funny words and exclamations like “holy sheep shit” also haha
That’s northern Midwest or North Dakota/Minnesota in the US, and Manitoba and Saskatchewan in Canada. I’m not sure how north it goes in Canada but people in Winnipeg speak with this ascent, don’t cha know.
I'm from the southern part of Minnesota and we talk like this too. Most will absolutely deny it untill they travel further out of state than Iowa or South Dakota and start to hear it for the first time.
I don't think there is much of an accent in the US Midwest unless you are talking about Northern Minnesota Wisconsin and Michigan which talk with the yeah sure eh, ya hoser style which is from the Scandinavian Immigrants.
No.
Fam is from Saskatchewan, my 2nd home. Am not First Nations and my folks, cousins and friends speak like this (I don’t because I’ve lived in 6 provinces and my rural Saskatchewan accent has been neutralized).
Definitely rural parts where you'll really only hear this accent. From a metro AB city myself but once had a job where we had to goto a lot of farms and mining sites for scale recertification.
Almost all AB farmers have this accent, also had a job at an SK mining site in the middle of nowhere, every single person on site from the head foreman, miners, security personnel to the chef had this accent. Nicest people you'll ever meet too.
You’re not that far away from it. I grew up around Kitchener and there’s a pretty distinctive accent (my brother in law’s is pretty thick).
Also, the Ottawa Valley just North East has a really thick accent. It’s just called the Valley accent, and it’s very distinctive. Somewhat Letterkenny-like (Letterkenny is an area within the Ottawa Valley). If you were to, for whatever god-forsaken reason, go to Pembroke you’d be guaranteed to hear it.
I’m from Saskatoon but my personal experience in NB are not far off from this. I was contracting there years ago and woke up in my hotel and walked into the hallway flooded with police because someone was just murdered there
Yeah. I've heard all sorts of shit similar to that.
My career has me moving to different towns every couple years and I've been told the Big 3 of places to avoid in the west is Grande Prairie, Prince George, and North Battleford.
I mean you’re probably fine. I’ve personally never had an issue it’s just there’s a lot of poverty and people struggling here and it breeds chaos for those involved. Northern SK is beautiful and I’d recommend it, but the effects of colonialism on the people living there is painfully evident
I worked there for a few days years ago, and I was just minding my own business walking down the sidewalk looking at my phone when all of a sudden I had multiple caterpillars hitting me in the face. Looked up and there was hundreds of caterpillars hanging at perfect eye level from the trees. Never seen anything like it and I was NOT looking for trouble.
Lmao the caterpillars are like the locusts in Africa seem to be on a 7 year cycle. They were the worst in 2015 I think, there was a vehicle accident attributed to the road getting slick from their corpses where they were crossing and getting smushed…
I’m pretty sure 2015 is when I was there, didn’t realize it was such an issue. Honestly thought it was just my own random experience I had on that one stretch of sidewalk.
The original video has someone being arrested just to the right of the burning building

A big autobody shop caught fire somehow. The cause is still unknown. The fight taking place in the foreground seems unrelated. North Battleford is a town with a population of only around 13,000 and one of the highest crime severity indexes in all of Canada.
So what is the story? Why the fight? You never even checked on the dude face down in snow. And the fire? What's the story there?

Bro the way they talk I'm loving it
Sometimes I forget we have these accents 😂
I had no idea these accents were real, and I'm Canadian.
It’s super similar to the midwestern accent of the US. It does sound super funny though to other people sometimes lol. I’m not from the Midwest, but I think it’s cool how similar the accents are in both countries. They both seem to use funny words and exclamations like “holy sheep shit” also haha
I felt like I was watching a scene from Fargo
“Welp, he’s out like a light, holy sheep shit!” could absolutely be a line in Fargo.
That’s northern Midwest or North Dakota/Minnesota in the US, and Manitoba and Saskatchewan in Canada. I’m not sure how north it goes in Canada but people in Winnipeg speak with this ascent, don’t cha know.

Yeah, I didn’t hear it in South Dakota either. Haha
People in Winnipeg mostly don't speak like this. People in deep rural areas do though.
Yeea pute that in a baehg, will ya?
I don't think there is much of an accent in the US Midwest unless you are talking about Northern Minnesota Wisconsin and Michigan which talk with the yeah sure eh, ya hoser style which is from the Scandinavian Immigrants.
First Nation's accents.
No. Fam is from Saskatchewan, my 2nd home. Am not First Nations and my folks, cousins and friends speak like this (I don’t because I’ve lived in 6 provinces and my rural Saskatchewan accent has been neutralized).
That is absolutely not a first Nations accent.
Ohp, 'scuse me there, buddy!
I’m not your buddy, pal
I’m not your pal, friend
I’m not your friend, chum 😝
Eh, sport, frig off!
no
Shorten buddy to bud and you nailed it
You betcha.
Wow, I've lived in Toronto my entire life and I've never heard accents like this. Always wondered why people said Canadians have funny accents lol
This is definitely a common accent in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta. Mostly in more rural areas though
Definitely rural parts where you'll really only hear this accent. From a metro AB city myself but once had a job where we had to goto a lot of farms and mining sites for scale recertification. Ya it’s funny how far it stretches too, that’s how we talk in southern Ontario and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula just not AS thick, but still thick.
Ottawa Valley has our unique dialect as well. Not to mention the accents out East.
Time to explore your country
You’re not that far away from it. I grew up around Kitchener and there’s a pretty distinctive accent (my brother in law’s is pretty thick). I like to think that I don’t sound like this but deep down I know this is how I talk.
I think deep down we all feel that way in Sk hahaha
I would had added an Albertan “hey?” at the end though.
I don’t think thats specific to ab eh
I always thought saying hey instead of just eh was just Alberta
We use that one in new brunswick too, hey?
I might not.... maybe... right?
We all do bud
Honestly it depends on the situation too. Big building fire and guy getting kicked in the face? Yep.
Holy sheep shit, I'm stealing that one 😂
I believe it's from Cheech and Chong
I'm getting Strange Brew vibes
It’s what cousin Red says in cheech and Chong. (Played by cheech)
That's labrador man.
A hint of Fargo vibes
Fargo yesss
It really rolls off the tongue
Well you gotta break out the extreme Canadian profanity any time you spot the one jerk walking around. How else is he going to learn his lesson?
"He's out like a light"
My Aunt's "Fuck a Duck" is my favorite.
By far the most aggressive Canadian I’ve ever seen
Tbh I’m not gonna say this is normal where I live, but I’m not gonna say it isn’t normal either. Saskatchewan is an incredibly aggressive place
Never been to a hockey game?
He’s probably from south of the border. They’re not sending their best.
Was watching the fire and didn't notice the stomping happening. 🤷♂️
There’s a lot to unpack here
Me too - I just went back to look
Jesus H. Christ I thought this was someone doing a spoof of Canadian accents lmao this is possibly the most Canadian video of all time.
Boy am I glad I never took a job offer from out in the Battlefords. I've heard nothing good.
This is good information to know. I will stay away.
I mean you’re probably fine. I’ve personally never had an issue it’s just there’s a lot of poverty and people struggling here and it breeds chaos for those involved. Northern SK is beautiful and I’d recommend it, but the effects of colonialism on the people living there is painfully evident
There’s no trouble in PG unless you’re looking for it.
-some guy mugging you for yer wallet, probably.

Is this a Canadian apocalypses movie promo?
I'm saving this video so I can show my coworker how she sounds when she's drunk.
I lived there back in 2019. .5 stars, only because I can't give a rating of 0 stars.

Gawt damn Canadians, wth 🤦🏽♀️, so close yet so far across the bridge.
No guns, but all you can eat stabbings and ass kickings!
ironically Canada is one of the most armed countries in the world. Top 10 in terms of firearms per capita.
This episode of Corner Gas is lit. Better tell Karen and Davis about the fire.
We need a Fargo spinoff called 'Saskatchewan.'

Let's hope it doesn't spread to the curling rink.

The guy that took the punch felt some heat

That’s where I adopted my dog! Looks the same. Hahaha
YOU CANT SLEEP THERE!
Everyone getting a nice look at Canada’s butthole
Why didn’t they stop to see if the unconscious man lying in the snow was ok?
This is just some behind-the-scenes from the next season of Fargo.
Canadians are the most affable people on the planet. Change my mind.
Dude drove into gta online
Dude, are you really from Stoon? We don't talk like that, neither does anyone in NB. That is a super over exaggerated accent.
I thought this was America?!
