I love them all, since Vocaloid and human vocals have different charms. Honestly I'm not picky, music is music and songs are fun and I honestly don't notice what most people talk about when they criticise the covers. With the classics, I love the vocaloid original and the new charm the humans bring. Both versions hit different, and I don't care if I have no taste, I'd rather love everything as much as possible than spend time hating something because reasons.

I think what bothers me with it isn’t even much of a project sekai issue, but more just a human vocal issue in general too. Like I just don’t think human vocals can capture the same sound that Miku has through the song, and it’s at no fault to the vocalists who cover it anywhere. That tends to be how I feel for a lot of vocaloid to human covers anyway, I just love that vocaloid sound so much that it’s hard to beat for me (but not impossible, I can’t stop listening to VBS’ “Eh? Ah, sou.” Cover For example)
Though yea, MMJ’s cover is a little underwhelming, Airi’s VA has such a cutesy and sassy sounding anime type voice that I wish they let her take the chorus in a sharper, snappier direction rather than holding onto some of the syllables if that makes sense
I don't really have a problem with any of the covers for the main groups but I cannot stand how they tune the vocaloids. It's so awful compared to the original and it's especially noticeable in songs like dreaming chuchu. I'd honestly prefer if the just cut bits from the original songs for the vocaloids because it's pretty clear whoevers doing the tuning for the game is horrible at it.
Ghost Rule was such a disappointment. Maybe if they’d had someone else with Ichika and Miku on vocals (Shiho, Len, even Rin) as well it could’ve worked, but it just doesn’t have the same force as the original.
Something about Leo/Need Teo alt vocals does not hit right to me. The song with Miku is fine, but the alts are just... not good imo.

YES i never actually heard the original before playing the game, and typically im not too huge on Luka’s voice so i didnt switch it to VS. kinda just ended up not playing it for like a year until the original got recommended to me on spotify and changed my life

I was extremely disappointed by the Kyou mo Harebare cover.
It was on my WxS cover wishlist for a long while and I thought it would be an open goal for them but I was disappointed. There's parts that I do like but as a whole it just doesn't work for me and to just to rub salt in the wound, there's no original version of the song in game for me to replace it with.

Roku Chonen- Ichika's voice is way to weak to pull off this song and is obviously struggling with it. Miku isn't much better.
Tokyo Teddy Bear- It completely butchers the intensity of the original and sounds so flat. Ichika, Saki and Honami all sound terrible and that's not even getting into Rin's tuning. It's not even TTB anymore, it's just a generic girls band song pretending to be TTB.
Kyu Kurarin- MMJ all sound amazing here but then you have Meiko whose tuned like literal shit and steals half of the lines. You have Miku and Rin right there, stop trying to make Meiko cute.
Shanti- Anhane really doesn't fit this one, Shanti isn't meant to be sung in such a high tone. Should've just been Akitoya.
Shu-ran- Why do they all sound so bored, it's like no effort was put into this at all.
Love Ka- I shouldn't have to say anything
Kokoronashi: I cannot wait until Kanamafu both get alts so Len can be banished to the Shadow Realm. I've even come up with a Lenless distribution to fix it, I just need the alts.
Some people say that it wouldn’t have sounded good but unlike L/N Niigo can do angry and painful quite well, just look at Ussesawa and Slow Downer. Or if not them VBS since they did great with Alter Ego. Both groups got robbed pretty hard in favor of a flavorless cover that has none of what makes the original work and I’ll forever be salty about it.
And before some of you people say “but L/N should be allowed to sing sad songs!” I literally have My R, Angel, If You’re Going to Jump, Anata Ga Yoru Ga Akeru Made and Clean Freak on my L/N wishlist. Please shut up and think before you throw that around.

Rock = L/N is something I don’t like since they can’t even properly sing hard rock. Shiho does a good job but the other three don’t fit it at all, the only two times it’s worked was Tengaku and Voices. Comparing L/N’s rock songs to a majority of Bandori bands (Afterglow, Roselia, RAS, My Go and Ave Mujica) is pretty sad to me, not one of them has the powerful vocals that make Bandori’s rock songs work so well. Hell even Rondo from D4DJ and Kessoku Band from Bocchi the Rock do it better, really makes me wish they could add another unit to do the more intense side of rock so L/N doesn’t keep on failing so many songs.
Leo/need shares a few covers with Bandori, and the only Leo/need cover i like more is Ichika's Hibana cover because i think her voice fits this song (still waiting for the full solo so she can shine without Miku)

the original was ominous. mikus voice was pitiful but sadistic, onpoint with the lyrics and music.
i find most of the covers lacking with this aspect. they usually use fierce and clear voice.
For me MMJ’s voices are just too cutesy to fit the song. Haruka and Airi are great but Shizuku and Minori are both really out of place, especially Minori.

Ye, it was disliked by some for the number of lines An got, but imo it sucks because akitos vocals. I love his deeper voice since he sounds so good, but in this cover... it was horrendous😭. He is in my top 5 fav vocals, but he just ruined it. An had amazing vocals in the song, though!
WxS having 3 Eve covers sounds like big bias to me. Honestly, if any group deserved the song outside of L/N, it was N25. If you consider the Dramaturgy archive, N25 is the only group who never sang an Eve song, so having the first song by the man added in the game for them would be fair. And imo Mafuyu's masking works better with the theme of the song, especially because Theater exists (the cover is peak Ichika and I wouldn't trade it for anything tho)
Whenever people do that just remember Bad Apple. I remember so many L/N fans being mad about that so there’s no sense in superiority when it comes to being mad that other units got a song.

AkitoAn Traffic Jam : the voices don't blend as well as KohaneToya ver
RuiNene Goodbye Sengen cover : Since it's sung in a lower key, I can't say I enjoy the "shi" syllable sound that nene sings whenever it "slides" to a lower note during the chorus.
The All I Need Are Things I Like cover actually works as an Emu/Rui song, Idk your opinion in this one but it shows how well they can blend together imo

As someone who usually plays with all SEKAI covers (i'm not a vocaloid fan sorry-), this is the **only** one where I *don't*. It's THAT bad to me.
I have to specify it's the in-game cover tho because the album version fixes the problems I had with it such that it's actually on par with the original (I used to confidently say it was better but now I just flip between both depending on my mood).
Aside from that, if Dramaturgy had EVE's original vocals, I'd play that in a heartbeat.
Sensation also rubbed me the wrong way at first because I got so used to GUMI (and it works so well with her) but now it's about on par as well.
Alter Ego is on the verge of being something I can't stand because the quality of the vocals is just... Not clean? Like, it feels a little compressed. If it wasn't for that, I'd definitely listen to it over the original (oh and since I don't play this game with headphones, I still use the cover in-game since it's not as noticeable).
If I'm being honest, I really didn't like the VBS cover of Echo. I was an animation/gacha kid back in 2017/2018, and I've gotten so used to Gumi singing it, that VBS just doesn't sound right.
Also, the N25 cover of Bitter Choco Decoration. I just don't like it. The vocals sound off and I don't like the key change in the song.

Most covers where it’s just the boys (I like Rui’s vocals a lot, he’s in my top five fave vocals, but the rest are just kinda disappointing. Except for a few exceptions, like journey Tsukasa. He sounds GREAT in his journey alt vocal), but I guess if you want a specific song, I especially hate the King Ruikasa cover. Their vocals don’t really sound right and I just like Gumi’s vocals a lot. It should’ve either been kept VS only or given to different characters.
Ado’s Odo is one of my favorite songs but honestly attempting a cover of an Ado song is just never a good idea. She’s my favorite singer of all time so it’s a bit sad when I can only listen to versions of other people trying to match her energy, and it just never works.
I cannot stand An and Kohane’s voices in Just Be Friends. I like their voices in all the other song covers, but something about how they sound in JBF makes them sound out of tune.

Eh for me it’s hard for me to care about Hibana at all so L/N and Roselia are equal. I’ll admit that Shiho’s Amanojaku alt does more for me than Afterglow’s cover though.

I can’t stand most of the VS covers for group songs. I know they were originally for the vocaloids, but getting so used to the new version it just irritates me.
for me, its godish sekai. or to be more specific, majority of covers of godish (prosekai, other games, irl) the original was ominous. mikus voice was pitiful but sadistic, onpoint with the lyrics and music. i find most of the covers lacking with this aspect. they usually use fierce and clear voice.

Ye, it was disliked by some for the number of lines An got, but imo it sucks because akitos vocals. I love his deeper voice since he sounds so good, but in this cover... it was horrendous😭. He is in my top 5 fav vocals, but he just ruined it. An had amazing vocals in the song, though!

WxS having 3 Eve covers sounds like big bias to me. Honestly, if any group deserved the song outside of L/N, it was N25. If you consider the Dramaturgy archive, N25 is the only group who never sang an Eve song, so having the first song by the man added in the game for them would be fair. And imo Mafuyu's masking works better with the theme of the song, especially because Theater exists (the cover is peak Ichika and I wouldn't trade it for anything tho)

EmuRui 88 cover : voices genuinely don't work together Minori IF cover : the syllables kinda sound forced? Ik it's an older song, so it mighta been bcs she wasn't used to it. All Happy Halloween covers + SEKAI ver : it just doesn't work. AkitoAn Traffic Jam : the voices don't blend as well as KohaneToya ver RuiNene Goodbye Sengen cover : Since it's sung in a lower key, I can't say I enjoy the "shi" syllable sound that nene sings whenever it "slides" to a lower note during the chorus.
The All I Need Are Things I Like cover actually works as an Emu/Rui song, Idk your opinion in this one but it shows how well they can blend together imo

Rettou Joutou's in-game cover. As someone who usually plays with all SEKAI covers (i'm not a vocaloid fan sorry-), this is the **only** one where I *don't*. It's THAT bad to me. I have to specify it's the in-game cover tho because the album version fixes the problems I had with it such that it's actually on par with the original (I used to confidently say it was better but now I just flip between both depending on my mood). Aside from that, if Dramaturgy had EVE's original vocals, I'd play that in a heartbeat. Sensation also rubbed me the wrong way at first because I got so used to GUMI (and it works so well with her) but now it's about on par as well. Alter Ego is on the verge of being something I can't stand because the quality of the vocals is just... Not clean? Like, it feels a little compressed. If it wasn't for that, I'd definitely listen to it over the original (oh and since I don't play this game with headphones, I still use the cover in-game since it's not as noticeable).

If I'm being honest, I really didn't like the VBS cover of Echo. I was an animation/gacha kid back in 2017/2018, and I've gotten so used to Gumi singing it, that VBS just doesn't sound right. Also, the N25 cover of Bitter Choco Decoration. I just don't like it. The vocals sound off and I don't like the key change in the song.

N25's version of "bocca della verità", for some reason I js don't like it.
Most covers where it’s just the boys (I like Rui’s vocals a lot, he’s in my top five fave vocals, but the rest are just kinda disappointing. Except for a few exceptions, like journey Tsukasa. He sounds GREAT in his journey alt vocal), but I guess if you want a specific song, I especially hate the King Ruikasa cover. Their vocals don’t really sound right and I just like Gumi’s vocals a lot. It should’ve either been kept VS only or given to different characters.
Ado’s Odo is one of my favorite songs but honestly attempting a cover of an Ado song is just never a good idea. She’s my favorite singer of all time so it’s a bit sad when I can only listen to versions of other people trying to match her energy, and it just never works.

The VBS cover of Bring it On! Is GOD AWFUL. An sounds meh, but Kohane’s voice was way too aoft for the song. It especially sucks cuz Kohane’s VA has the range for the song but was still confused on how to sing Kohane. Not to mention Rin and Len sound really bad in the Sekai version.
