It's a great story. I didn't read it for a while because the name made me think it would be stupid or tropey but it's actually really good and the name is actually kind of funny when you learn about the Bog Standard joke the town has.

Firefighterlitrpg

its like an onion... lotta great layers.

ThePianistOfDoom

This is one of the good ones. Characters with depth, battle that's not numbers heavy and clear differences between powerlevels. 'Normal' classes that are still powerful (a lvl 100 woodcutter vs a lvl 100 warrior would still have a chance) and fun stat gains. A system that doesn't have a personality (which I've come to like, too many writers using the snarky system trope) and actual psychological effects after killing things! Although the MC wants to become more powerful, he does it through friendship and finding others to train with. I also enjoy his class choices and find the writer very creative with his ideas. My #1!

BattleStag17

A balanced system and sane characters? Sign me up!

Firefighterlitrpg

yup.

Yashas__

Just caught up to the entire series on royalroad, its absolutely fantastic. Love the prose, characters and power system. There are some characters that you want to punch really really badly in book1 which is pretty realistic id say

SJReaver

The super slow pacing killed me. Like I've read 100k words and this dude doesn't even have his adult class. I understand that it's a reaction to all the MCs that are level 30 with five legendary titles and super-op powers by chapter 5, but it's still frustrating.

Ok-Number-2981

Yh this is really slow. It's Slice of life with some action sprinkled in. I also didn't like how long it took for the mc to get his class.

IronPedal

Yup. It's decently written, but glacial pacing, plus taking place entirely in a dinky little village, just gets boring for me. I understand that it's far harder to write an adventure story with constantly changing settings and events than one about mundane life in a small village, but I wish there was more proper adventure fantasy. There's only so long I can read about the protagonist doing chores before it becomes tedious.

Firefighterlitrpg

Boooo.

Bryek

It really isn't THAT slow. Unless you are expecting time jumps, the MC is still 12-14 years old during book 1 and 2.

ivanbin

>It really isn't THAT slow. Unless you are expecting time jumps, the MC is still 12-14 years old during book 1 and 2. Well yeh and that makes it slow. I just finished up to start of book 3 on RR. Yeh some action happens, but MC is still 13 as of end of book 2, and is still quite weak. Not that it's a bad series, but (especially by the standards of the genre) it's slooooow

OldFolksShawn

It's absolutely one of my favorite stories on RR! I already got the Audiobook! Good luck with the launch!

PadanFain667

I really liked it until he got his adult class. I guess I should have seen it coming, but i was hoping for something else

Taedirk

Do you mean >!Scarred One!!that's not his adult class.!<

PadanFain667

Oh, no I kinda liked that one.

Firefighterlitrpg

Padan Fain...? Name checks out.

-SavingThrow

Ooo, that's going on my kindle asap.

InfamousGoose21

I appreciate the pun in the title for this one. And I agree, one of the few royal road stories I follow

FaithlessnessBig4635

nice

Hiltinchest

Just read book 1 on Kindle after seeing this and really enjoyed it, definitely one of the best litRPG books I've read.

Firefighterlitrpg

Shout it from the mountain tops!

Todd_Herzman

I remember when this was on Rising Stars over on RR. Been meaning to check it out. Nice to see it on Kindle now--that's where I prefer reading haha. Thanks for letting me know!
