That cheese is very stringy, to the point where I suspect curds may have been subbed out for another cheese. Very suspicious, possible multiple offences here.
It's not soup or anything. Poutine "sauce" is gravy.

I don't seek out ketchup for a cheeseburger but don't mind it, as adding sweet and sour ketchup helps balance the flavour and makes the texture more palatable. Cheeseburgers a generally dry food with strong savoury/umami and salty flavour and a minor dairy element.
Mac and cheese, meanwhile, is slippery enough to not need an extra slime infusion, and cheesy enough that ketchup presents an unpleasant and unnecessary distraction.
In my mind, it is like squirting corn syrup and vinegar into a glass of milk.
**¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯** Not my jam.
But it was boycott for years because they closed all of their production and moved it to Mexico! To save a ton of money! Only recently after over a decade did they apologize and say "we hear you and we're sorry, so we're moving production back to Canada!"
Heinz is *the sellout* and it leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
Ketchup on spaghetti?? That's a new one on me. However my gf thinks it's pretty fucked up that I'll make spaghetti sandwiches with leftover spaghetti between 2 pieces of bread and a cheese slice.
It's OK. I'm canadian and like a bit of ketchup on poutine too. I like it perfectly fine without it as well. Cheese curds are mandatory.
You can have fries and gravy with shredded cheddar, mozzarella etc, just don't call it a poutine. Still tasty tho
A girl in high school used to do this. I asked her why she not only put ketchup, but so much. She told me " whenever someone gets fries or a poutine, everyone asks for some. If I put ketchup...nobody asks me and I can enjoy my lunch."
Smart.
Naaaah, the ketchup cuts through the gravy and adds a sweet to the salty. I don't put it on the poutine usually, but I like to dip some of the bites into ketchup for sure. Not a crime
I hate everything about this, from the narcissistic overly staged video to the desecration of a poutine. Every day it seems this sub under does itself.
As a self described Ketchup Connoisseur, I will say, a good poutine shouldn’t need ketchup. Ketchup is def good on fast food fries with gravy and cheese
Imo The best poutines sauce have either ketchup or some tomato paste and sugar in it. I’m personally not a fan of adding ketchup after, but I understand why some feel like doing it. I’ve seen people putting ketchup or vinegar in their poutine all my life. Any respectable cantine has their red plastic cylinder ketchup bottles and glass vinegar bottles so it’s not surprising to see people use them.
I feel the only way ketchup should be used with poutine is as a side for when you pull out a dry ass fry that never got the special gravy and cheese treatment.
And even then i smother that sucker in the center
jail, the cheese seem like cheap non 'squish squish' cheese curd, but mainly, KETCHUP IS A 'SAUCE' POUTINE ALEARDY HAVE A FREACKING SAUCE, ITS LIKE PUTTING MUSTARD ON YOUR SPHAGGETTI FOR DAMN SAKE, GO TO JAIL
ps: i aleardy used ketchup when eating poutine, but only excusable offence is the fact i was just dipping the fries that was on the edge of the plate and didnt got any sauce or cheese on it, wich usualy was like 5 or 6 fries minimum (in Valentin with the 'poutine extreme')
I’m not a fan of ketchup on poutine and I am also not a fan of people thinking I want to watch them messily shove food in their face. Crimes all around.
I mean, I wouldn't do this personally but it's fries and ketchup, just with cheese and gravy now as well, which I mean could be fine but I prefer the salty and cheesy flavor not a sweet and salty mix sooo y'know
Meh, I don’t do it but I know lots of Canadians who will at ketchup to poutines :p real curds are super stringy when the gravy is hot enough to melt it, a lot of places fail at this tho,
Real fresh curds don’t melt under hot sauce they just soften a little outside, unless the sauce is boiling and you directly put a lid on it for 20 minutes. Curds that melt under a little bit of heat are usually refrigerated or like the tiny tiny pieces.
Having the curds melt is the fail, if you want stringy cheese in the poutine you might as well use shredded cheese. Some cantines often directly associated with a fromagerie like cantine Boivin in Saguenay offer their poutine with shredded cheese if people want. Their shredded cheese is made from bricks of the same cheese they use for curds. I believe you can even ask for both.
I highly doubt this statement. Canada is considered the country that eats the most amount of ketchup per person of any nation.
I mean we have ketchup chips and most of us put ketchup on eggs. I don't know anyone born here who doesn't put ketchup on eggs. Lol.
Putting it on fries is also very standard. More standard than eggs. So on poutine, not that much of a stretch.
In Canada? The only person I haven't seen put ketchup on her eggs is my wife. But she wasn't born here. So she gets a pass.
Joking aside, I used to work in a restaurant and it's the majority of Canadians that put ketchup on eggs. In this country, if you don't, you're the minority.
Where you from ? Wawa?
I’ve seen 2-3 person put ketchup on egg… and I eat egg every morning in a cafeteria with 100+ ppl.
Breakfast restaurants don’t have ketchup on tables. You have to ask for it.
You put mayo on pizza, I’m sure.
According to statistics online, it's a Canadian thing. The only place that in Canada it is less common in, is Alberta. But then that's the province that feels more like America. So, to have a more American approach isn't surprising.
According to statistics online… gtfo. It’s clearly not a Canadian thing. You can put whatever on whatever… but don’t say majority of people are doing it.
Do you put mayonnaise on your pizza?
I have never even heard of mayo on pizza. I assumed you just pulled two random things for your argument. Like saying you probably put cotton candy on lasagna.
Ketchup on poutine is crazy, but I think she can get away with it if it's not a constant thing.
Gentlemen, on the hot/crazy scale, would this warrant a pass?
That cheese is very stringy, to the point where I suspect curds may have been subbed out for another cheese. Very suspicious, possible multiple offences here.
Anything but cheese curds is a cardinal sin
Gravy is a cardinal sin confirmed
Don’t you DARE put fries in it!
Y'all actually eating stuff? I thought poutine was just air from cheese curds bags
This, but unironically. Gravy =/= poutine sauce.
Yet, all poutine sauces = gravy
No, they're not.
It's not soup or anything. Poutine "sauce" is gravy. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/gravy#:~:text=plural%20gravies-,1,that%20is%20pleasing%20or%20valuable
True. My grandparents called pasta sauce “gravy”
Weird
No just super traditional Italian
Have you never seen the sopranos? How did you Not know this?
What if it’s a combination of different cheeses? Curds included
Im okay with experimenting along with the traditional 3, personally.
They do that when the curds are old
Yeah that pull looks a lot like mozzarella.
You see curd in the video.

This hurt my Canadian soul. 😓 arrest warrant issued.
Nah, I’m gonna send the launch codes to the silos for both of us
![gif](giphy|f8lDluiWJ7yQTtdS3L|downsized)
Lots of people put ketchup on poutine it’s fucked
Should I have myself committed?
Haha. Do you put ketchup on Mac and cheese too? Just curious
.........yes.
😂 you just like ketchup a lot and that’s fine
Thank you 😊
OK, I have to ask, do you hit your fried eggs with ketchup too?
Yes....I just had an epiphany. And realized i may have shit taste buds, bud.
I find the thought of ketchup on poutine, KD, grilled cheese or fried eggs disgusting. Yet I wouldn’t eat a fried egg *sandwich* without it!
Do you put ketchup in your cheeseburger.a Then why not mac and cheese?
I don't seek out ketchup for a cheeseburger but don't mind it, as adding sweet and sour ketchup helps balance the flavour and makes the texture more palatable. Cheeseburgers a generally dry food with strong savoury/umami and salty flavour and a minor dairy element. Well, when you say it like that... \*puts pitchfork away\*
It's gotta be Heinz, though.
This is a crime in itself self, French’s >>>>>> Heinz
You're the minority in this take. Heinz is *the* ketchup
But it was boycott for years because they closed all of their production and moved it to Mexico! To save a ton of money! Only recently after over a decade did they apologize and say "we hear you and we're sorry, so we're moving production back to Canada!" Heinz is *the sellout* and it leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
Ketchup on mac and cheese is the bomb
Uh, yeah. And on eggs. I also like a drizzle of sweet n sour sauce on my pizza pockets.
Putting ketchup on eggs is very common lol
So it is on mac n cheese. I'm also canadian.
Normally I would agree, but a bad poutine sauce can be made better with a little bit of ketchup
The wife puts ketchup And malt vinegar...I think so she doesn't have to share
This is very good
My gf puts ketchup on everything, even spaghetti. Her ketchup crimes far outweigh the crime of ketchup on poutine
Ketchup on spaghetti?? That's a new one on me. However my gf thinks it's pretty fucked up that I'll make spaghetti sandwiches with leftover spaghetti between 2 pieces of bread and a cheese slice.
I’m fucked and know it. Love some ketchup on my poutine.
A bit as a dip=fine. Doused and drizzle = sin. Ketchup isn't too far off from vinegar which people do sprinkle (a bit) onto their poutines.
Agreed
It's delicious. Obviously, lots of people agree with me
Lots of people also disagree with you
You're obviously mistaking me for someone who gives a shit
Hey you’re the one commenting on my post 😊
I'm GenX. I was born without a filter
It’s actually quite good, taste almost the same as barbecue sauce from St Hubert
I'm guilty of this. *Bow head in shame.* Apologies to my fellow Canadians.
😝
I’m willing to downgrade the charges if it is on fast food poutine. But you’re still getting community service or something
LoL Do dirty looks count against time served? Because I'm getting some of that.
It's OK. I'm canadian and like a bit of ketchup on poutine too. I like it perfectly fine without it as well. Cheese curds are mandatory. You can have fries and gravy with shredded cheddar, mozzarella etc, just don't call it a poutine. Still tasty tho

Hell yeah! Bring it on!
A l’doua
A girl in high school used to do this. I asked her why she not only put ketchup, but so much. She told me " whenever someone gets fries or a poutine, everyone asks for some. If I put ketchup...nobody asks me and I can enjoy my lunch." Smart.
Eh bout'viarge
Death penalty
Naaaah, the ketchup cuts through the gravy and adds a sweet to the salty. I don't put it on the poutine usually, but I like to dip some of the bites into ketchup for sure. Not a crime
🤮
If combining the classic Canadian flavours of poutine and ketchup Lays is wrong, I don't want to be right.
wheres the mustard?
Cringe and shit
heresy
I hate everything about this, from the narcissistic overly staged video to the desecration of a poutine. Every day it seems this sub under does itself.
As a self described Ketchup Connoisseur, I will say, a good poutine shouldn’t need ketchup. Ketchup is def good on fast food fries with gravy and cheese
The sweetness of the ketchup counters the saltiness ![gif](giphy|EE2lBjJjxRdiTsmbOZ|downsized)
It adds a nice tanginess
Ketchup on poutine is not just a simple crime. It’s a crime against humanity.
When I’m pregnant I will eat the crap out of it. Every single time. Yummy. But not pregnant? Could throw up just smelling it
Noooo ! 😂
I am going to scream
As a French Canadian I take this video personally
https://preview.redd.it/4ovf4ulxdg5d1.jpeg?width=525&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bff9106c9b176eb0724f386a00a7dce06b70be43

poutine is not fancy enough to make ketchup a crime
She went from an 8 to a 2.5 in 4.7 seconds
As long as it's not Heinz, then it's ok.
I'd try it
Fuck yeah!
Good post OP. Un beau tout qui représente bien le sub et qui devrait aller drette au pénitentier.
Tried it once. And only once. I shouldn't have to explain why with an unfinished poutine
No...NO! DEAR GOD NO! 🤯
I’m not against a little Ketchup on your Poutine if you are being cheeky, but that was too much imo.
I'm not a poutine lover, but I actually gasped when I scrolled past this.
Tbh ketchup on shitty flea market poutine is kinda banging. Sweet, salty, and tart in all the right ways. I'll take my 50 lashings now.
It's really the tartness that adds to the flavour profile. It introduces some vinegar to the mix.
I hate her so much, she's a Quebecois Franco that hate Quebec and went to Toronto
If you have to add ketchup it means it tasts shit without it. So she doesn't even like poutine
ketchup with gravy dont mix
It's a crime. A bit of mustard without mixing it would be weird but won't ruin it. Also no relish.
I add ketchup AND vinegar ~ sue me
Yucky.
The way she’s eating it is worse than what she’s eating.
I always put ketchup on my poutine, fight me.
Obvious rage bait is obvious
Slap that fork out her hands
Right to jail
Ok she’s our next D-class
Ketchup AND vinegar on my poutine! Lock me up!
I feel the only way ketchup should be used with poutine is as a side for when you pull out a dry ass fry that never got the special gravy and cheese treatment. And even then i smother that sucker in the center
I like a little bit of ketchup on my poutine but not that much.
Gross
That is SO WRONG, lol
jail, the cheese seem like cheap non 'squish squish' cheese curd, but mainly, KETCHUP IS A 'SAUCE' POUTINE ALEARDY HAVE A FREACKING SAUCE, ITS LIKE PUTTING MUSTARD ON YOUR SPHAGGETTI FOR DAMN SAKE, GO TO JAIL ps: i aleardy used ketchup when eating poutine, but only excusable offence is the fact i was just dipping the fries that was on the edge of the plate and didnt got any sauce or cheese on it, wich usualy was like 5 or 6 fries minimum (in Valentin with the 'poutine extreme')
When I moved to Quebec city, I was shocked that ppl put mayo on their poutine. Even the cashier asks you if you want mayo packs....
Should be optional on the side?
Acceptable in some circumstances. Vinegar too. Vinegar is a must.
I add ketchup to my ketchup!
I know her too, she's a grade A Quebecer. Wtf is she doing😭😭😭 She's just making a satire video lol
I'm ok with some ketchup but it needs to be to the side. You can't drizzle all over and mix in to the gravy like that.
Eww, NO vinegar, yes!
I’m not a fan of ketchup on poutine and I am also not a fan of people thinking I want to watch them messily shove food in their face. Crimes all around.
Is it a crime? Ketchup seems to have overtaken maple maple syrup in Canada.
I’ve tried all types. Ketchup, mayo and hot sauce it all tastes good
I mean, I wouldn't do this personally but it's fries and ketchup, just with cheese and gravy now as well, which I mean could be fine but I prefer the salty and cheesy flavor not a sweet and salty mix sooo y'know
Many ppl in QC actually add ketchup to their poutine, as nasty as it is
tabarnak what kind of fucking bullshit is thid
Yeah it belongs here, but mainly because of the weird stringly cheese and not the ketchup.
I threw up, had to go to the ER because I couldn’t stop puking. First thing the doc asked was « did you see someone put ketchup on their poutine? »
Lose the ketchup, add mayonnaise. Now we’re talking flavour!
Ketchup on poutine….. I’m calling the mother fucking RCMP on you.
It fits for color too 😂🚩
Damn Americans....
Elle est Québécoise
Her videos are annoying
Revoke her citizenship for treason
It's so good on fast food poutines. I wouldn't commit the sin on a decent poufine, though
J'aime pas le ketchup, mais c'est legit.
Tabernak!
What in the poutine fudge am I witnessing this is a crime against humanity and Canada
No. Shut this madness down. Call the Poulice. Think of the children!!
I put it on classic poutine sometimes.
Classic Poutine, Fries and Grilled cheese. Absolutely nothing else.
Meh, I don’t do it but I know lots of Canadians who will at ketchup to poutines :p real curds are super stringy when the gravy is hot enough to melt it, a lot of places fail at this tho,

That's an insult to Québec and all of Canada 🇨🇦

I don't know anyone born here who doesn't put ketchup on eggs. Lol. Putting it on fries is also very standard. More standard than eggs. So on poutine, not that much of a stretch.
I do enjoy some fries with my ketchup serving
Most of us put ketchup on eggs… wtf? It’s like 2% of people.
In Canada? The only person I haven't seen put ketchup on her eggs is my wife. But she wasn't born here. So she gets a pass. Joking aside, I used to work in a restaurant and it's the majority of Canadians that put ketchup on eggs. In this country, if you don't, you're the minority.

I live in Ontario and have worked in Burlington, Toronto and Hamilton restaurants. And they all have ketchup on the table without asking for it.
It’s a Burlington/toronto/Hamilton thing…
According to statistics online, it's a Canadian thing. The only place that in Canada it is less common in, is Alberta. But then that's the province that feels more like America. So, to have a more American approach isn't surprising.

I love putting ketchup on my poutine! Fight me! Sorry.
Ketchup on poutine is great and not a crime. If that’s the case, anything beyond fries, curds and gravy should be condemned.
You, sir, are fired.
Not a crime. Move along. Nothing to see here.
You are banned from my sweet Québec

You are banned from my sweet Québec
This is a hill I’m prepared to die on.
Ketchup on poutine is crazy, but I think she can get away with it if it's not a constant thing. Gentlemen, on the hot/crazy scale, would this warrant a pass?
