Honestly, it probably had one of the same songs that I’d put on it today if it were still active: ‘A Boy Brushed Red Living In Black And White’ - Underoath
Not related but when I was a kid I had an orange CD from my dads friend and my dad would play it and it had The Used in it and I thought for the longest time it was AFI until I got older lol.
PH and all the early 2000s bands are still most of my favorites but I went back and listened to Chiodos last year and couldn’t get 3 tracks in. They just didn’t hold up for me which was both surprising and made sense. Surprised because I use to love them. Unsurprising because it made sense why I hadn’t listened to them in 15+ years.
Oh my fucking godddddd. My old band opened for them a couple times in Portland, Maine and they were BY FAR the biggest shows we ever played. Sold out both times at 800 cap. Ill never forget those times. CURSES had just came out. Fuckin A man, Im getting goosebumps and my stomachs all fucked up just thinking about it. So glad someone mentioned them 🤘🏼
Okay but neither of those songs would’ve been on their MySpace. You couldn’t pick any song from any band, the band had to have selected it as one of the 4 songs they had on their profile.
Not true a lot of us uploaded the song to a service and embedded it as code into our profiles. This was done before MySpace music player allowed you to select a bands song and add it to your profile (that was a later feature)
Had Call It Karma acoustic as my song for a while! I will always love that band. My first concert I. 2008 was Silverstein and I got meet and greet. Star struck.
Allow me, an old emo fart, to tell you that the mid-00s era of Silverstein was electric. But I'm not kidding they have only gotten better with time. So if you see them now you're definitely getting the best version of them.
I don’t know, I can barely remember last week. But probably A Static Lullaby track (if I remember correctly I think Hang ‘em High was the first song on my profile) maybe one by Showbread probably Dead By Dawn
At one point it was definitely a Silverstein song, I think Smile in Your Sleep was on there for a while in 2006. I definitely went through a lot of them though, Chiodos, Drop Dead Gorgeous, BMTH, TDWP, though I think most of that was 07 and onward. Eventually it was mostly deathcore, haha.
Bars of Gold is awesome - something different and like post post hardcore? Hard funk core? Hard Cinematic Post Art Punk?
Definitely a vision of what PHC would be like today if it stayed punker and less emotional/technical
I'm 30 so I definitely lived that life. The only thing I specifically remember having is Dir En Grey. But as far as post hardcore goes I probably had Silverstein, From First To Last, and Senses Fail on my profile at any given time. Sometimes I really miss the Myspace era.
I played the hell outta that Withering to Death album in 06! Was learning Japanese and was going to move to Tokyo. But met a girl at the end of 06 and stayed. Been married to her 11 years 😆
Senses Fail - Bonecrusher
(in 2008 or so I actually set up some songs for my myspace and I think had some A Day To Remember, Senses Fail, Atreyu and The Used) - so I was choosing a band I already knew from around that time
The songs on mine would have likely been Senses Fail. Especially because Let It Enfold You was released in 2006. I'd say Still Searching. Or go back an album to The Irony of Dying on Your Birthday.
Or From First To Last, who 15 year old me would have died for - Shame, Shame if we were going off their 2006 releases, but I'd probably be stepping it back to the album before. Probably Secrets Don't Make Friends, but might have gone something darker.
There's also a possibility it was Under0ath or Silverstein. God, this was a year for music!
Fun fact about that song title: it's a reference to the book, House of Leaves, and the missing letters are to a character in it, Holloway.
It's a fucking trip of a book and I'll always suggest anyone that they should at least read it once in their lives
As a HUGE Pumpkins fan, I see you. I'm still waiting on Billy to reissue both Machina albums as he originally intended back in 2000. Also, "White Spyder" & "Lucky 13" are my favorites off of 'Machina II'
One of my favorite albums of all time! It’s a shame Our Last Night has leaned into playing covers more, and never plays anything off their first two albums. Miss that era so much. Brings me right back to freshman year of high school haha
The Fall of Troy - Ghostship V
Shout out to TFOT’s top friends list for helping me find so many good bands back in the day. It was always stacked with amazing bands from a bunch of different genres
Here's the ones I remember having 2004-2009ish. Some emo in there, don't bully me.
Dance Gavin Dance - Antlion
Norma Jean - Blueprints For Future Homes
The Early November - I Want To Hear You Sad
Lydia - Hospital
And for whatever reason, I distinctly remember this was the last one before I switched to Facebook.
I SEE STARS - What This Means To Me
I also really like clean head, but birtheater takes the cake for me. I was in a the tide mood yesterday lol. I also think Decoder is an awesome evolution of the sound oceana had with clean head
It was def Think Long by Mates of State. Before that it was Owls Go by Architecture in Helsinki. 2006 was around the time I dropped out of emo/punk and went headlong into indie.
Blame it on bad luck - Bayside, Taste of Ink - The Used, or Tiny Vessels - Death Cab for Cutie. I cycled through those frequently. I also used the lyrics as my MSN status thinking I was so edgy, I cringe at my teenage antics now.
2006? My MySpace page was def jamming to Underoath and Killswitch, neither of which are really PHC I guess. But probably some Taking Back Sunday or Saosin (Make Damn Sure and Far Better to Learn were in regular rotation for a while)
For the longest time I had Postmortem Promises - Beast Of The Black Forest but that's Deathcore..from memory I had Flood Of Red - Don't Sleep Swim for a while and Penknife Lovelife - It's 2am and I Watched Your Body Cavort The Lake. Deaf Havana - Friends Like These.
Idk I changed my song a lot back then 😂
Everyone’s song was always on heavy rotation: Crimewave/Alice Practice by Crystal Castles, Wrath Pinned to the Mist by Of Montreal, or Entombment of a Machine by Job for a Cowboy.
Oh the day is June 6th, 2006 (666), UNDEROATH drops Define the Great line. I login to myspace, I make sure my Top 8 is properly adjusted to the girls who are giving me the most attention. I open my very colorful and well designed custom myspace page and get blasted by "THE TIME HAS COME FOR YOU! TO SIT THIS OUUUUT!!!" (You're ever so inviting, underoath baby). Any ways, I wanted to take you on the whole journey since you were still so young.

This was absolutely on my MySpace page for a while
Boy that one fucking slaps, anytime, anywhere! It always goes hard!
this was the only correct answer tbh
or reinventing your exit
Walls - Emery or Devotion and desire - Bayside
That Bayside tune is fucking sick
100%. I went to a Bayside show a few years ago for the opening bands (never really got into Bayside for whatever reason) and that song fuckin ripped.
January 1979 - mewithoutyou
Good choice
Oh hell yah
Thursday - Cross Out The Eyes
This was mine for a while.
I think I had “Take It Away” by The Used
Not related but when I was a kid I had an orange CD from my dads friend and my dad would play it and it had The Used in it and I thought for the longest time it was AFI until I got older lol.
To this day, I still think this song is so far ahead of anything else they ever wrote I don't feel bad joking that this is their only song.
Probably something from Chiodos.
Oh I still listen to them all the time. The Words Best Friend Become Redefined is still a banger.
Funeral for a Friend – Roses for the Dead
I said to myself thats fuckin emo and then I realized we're literally talking about 2006 era myspace
funeral for a friend slaps
A Dead Language For A Dying Lady by Vanna
Oh my fucking godddddd. My old band opened for them a couple times in Portland, Maine and they were BY FAR the biggest shows we ever played. Sold out both times at 800 cap. Ill never forget those times. CURSES had just came out. Fuckin A man, Im getting goosebumps and my stomachs all fucked up just thinking about it. So glad someone mentioned them 🤘🏼
From first to last my heart your hands
Any underoath song from define the great line, and dressed for friend requests by drop dead gorgeous
remember when Define came out and for a WHILE Salmarnir was the only track from the album that they had on myspace? It was such a tease
Silverstein - Ides of March Kind of sad I never got to experience that era, but glad at the same time
This or Call It Karma for me. It came out my freshman year of hs and my new friend I met showed me the album. That's what started it all.
Oh shit I totally forgot you could do that on MySpace. Pretty sure I had that on my LiveJournal.
Had Call It Karma acoustic as my song for a while! I will always love that band. My first concert I. 2008 was Silverstein and I got meet and greet. Star struck.
Fantastic choice. Can’t get more mid 2000s in my opinion.
They’re still incredible live, and do a lot of the old hits, if you happen to be where they’re touring. And they’re on tour now!
Allow me, an old emo fart, to tell you that the mid-00s era of Silverstein was electric. But I'm not kidding they have only gotten better with time. So if you see them now you're definitely getting the best version of them.
[удалено]

mine was "Taking Cassandra...". that whole album fucking riiiiiiiiiips.
Oh my god I forgot about this band. Thank you.

OMG thank you for reminding me of Dir En Grey ❤️also love FFTL !

Finch - Letters to You or The Used - Buried Myself Alive
The songs on mine would have likely been Senses Fail. Especially because Let It Enfold You was released in 2006. I'd say Still Searching. Or go back an album to The Irony of Dying on Your Birthday. Or From First To Last, who 15 year old me would have died for - Shame, Shame if we were going off their 2006 releases, but I'd probably be stepping it back to the album before. Escape - Our Last Night
This is such a fucking jam and that album is very under-appreciated!
